I'm not sure if this has already been introduced to the sub', but I've thought a lot about husband privileges vs boyfriend privileges. I have a hard time drawing the line between the two. It would be nice to read a post about what should be reserved for after marriage and what is going overboard for simply a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship. Boyfriends are great, but we still want to give them an incentive to get married/commit further.

Game of Thrones Spoilers Ahead!

For some reason the other day it popped into my head that Breanne is (one of) the most tragically feminine women in the series. I mean, at first glance she is a typical Amazon cliché, but with the way GRRM writes, of course it's something deeper.

First of all, her size and strength are intended to be freakish, Breanne was socially outcast from a young age. If she had the option to be small and delicate and beautiful like Sansa or Cercei, she would have taken it. She learned to fight as a reaction to her situation (the boys picking fights with her), not the other way around.

I would also like to point out the hypergamy of her situation. Being that she is highborn, she socially outranks most men that she might like and she also physically outranks most of the men period (except for like the Hound). Even if she did get married, she could never respect the man that did.

But dispite all of this, and she still wants to be treated softly and gently by men. Which is exemplified by the fact that she fell deeply in love with the first man that treated her like a delicate woman with feelings. I don't doubt for a second that she would have given her life for Renly if it would have saved him. And the same with Jamie, he literally saved her while she was a damsel in distress, she doesn't stand a chance. And even to a degree Catylnn, who showed a motherly care for her.

More than anything she seeks to serve the people that she loves, and she loves the people who save her. And the best way she knows how to serve is with her sword.

I've been wanting to do a post on this, but this is very raw and I'm super open to suggestions.

But I want to discuss the "strikes" one can have against their RMV, and fully detail what they mean. And how a person is not ruined forever by derogatory marks, but simultaneously also has to accept the reality of them and navigate accordingly.

The way I would like to convey this would be with a visual metaphor. My two inclinations currently are either a bucket filling up (and the breaking point being where it overflows) or an hourglass draining (and the breaking point being where it runs dry). I'm not sure which would be most accurate, and also open to maybe a more fitting medium if anyone has an idea.

Anyway the crux of the post is to demonstrate the room you have to navigate in a relationship, and margin for error afforded to you.

If you enter into a relationship as a feminine domesticated Stepford virgin - your slate is blank. But things like a high n-count, questionable past, etc bring you into a relationship with a "fuller bucket" (or more empty hourglass/etc). First, it demonstrates how you have less room to navigate with as far as mistakes go. But second, I'd like to show how you can still attain a high SMV man if you bring a lot of quality to the table in other ways (obviously contingent on how far from grace you've fallen).

But two things I hate and want to dispel with this post.

One, the attitude that n-count/prior fuck ups/etc don't matter or can be erased. No. They can't. Get realistic.
Two, the attitude of martyrdom "woah is me I slept with 5 people - must I resign myself to an omega neckbeard or just be single for life as to not inflict my atrocities on the world?" le sigh.

I really dislike both those equally I would like outline a realstic way to understand how you can damage your SMV, but how you can also build it back up without deluding yourself into thinking it undoes the harm already caused.

Half formed rambling thoughts here, there be dragons...

I think the division between RP and feminism has more to do with individual people and whether they have authoritarian views or not. If you feel you fit into "the natural way of things" and traditional values boxes, you'll never be happy in the strong, independent, carve your own way of feminism. If you are a strong independent women who has never been drawn to "the way things are", you'll be very turned off by RP theory and never be happy in it.

I think it's telling that traditional values have stood the test of time: they work, and they work for a lot of people. But for those people who didn't fit into the boxes society prepared for them, it was crushing and oppressive. Now I feel that the rejection of traditional values has more to do with it being labeled as oppressive and rejected out of hand. I think any belief system becomes oppressive when it is expected and pushed onto someone. Women come here after rejecting feminism and like this better, of their own free will, and I like that woman have the freedom to find where they best fit into the world. Also property rights are pretty awesome.

Another reason for the divisiveness is people choose the worst example of the other side, and apply it to everyone. RP isn't a battered women being a doormat to their husband, and feminism isn't an out of control man hating social justice warrior. Those people exist but they are not the actual living PEOPLE following these ideologies, just crazies who are loud enough to drown out normal people living their lives. The internet makes it so, so easy to pull out piles of bad examples and shit all over people with them.

Ok well that was supposed to be a blurb, but it's half formed and a bit (ok a lot) of a ramble... but this seems to be the place to drop it.

/u/BellaScarletta brought up metaphors so I figure this is a good place to share an extended metaphor that /u/PhantomDream09 and I have been talking about. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the phrase "Don't ask the fish, ask the fisherman", well we think that fishing is actually the perfect metaphor for female sexual strategy, not male. Here are some of the ideas we were playing around with:

Both fishing and female sexual strategy are all about preparation. You need to know what you're after, choose the right time and place, dress appropriately for the event, know how to attract what you want to catch, have patience, be strong enough to reel them in once they're hooked, etc. After all of the preparation is done, it's really about waiting. You get everything ready, put yourself out there, and wait for them to approach. You can take a slightly more active role depending on the fish/man you want but the main idea is the same.
Using a wide net yields all types of fish as well as plants, rocks, trash, insects, and other unwanted items. This is the same as indiscriminately sleeping around hoping that will land you the perfect man. It's much faster, you do get a lot of action, but you end up with a lot of men and experiences that you don't want.

Keep in mind that neither of us are fishing experts. Feel free to add on or offer ideas!

I was thinking about SMV and its subjectiveness. I came to the conclusion that men generally select women as long-term partners whose SMV at minimum complements their status within their specific community, but even better if it raises their status.

Examples: I'm objectively pretty, but I possess physical qualities that are generally not deemed attractive to men within my community, such as extremely fair skin, curly hair, and being slightly taller than average. However, in my husband's community, these are highly prized qualities and he gets approval from both men and women in his social circle for choosing me.

An acquaintance of mine "secretly" dated a man for about a year. She is petite, extremely curvy, long dark hair, very sweet. However, in this man's social circle the other men were partnered with blonde, tan, athletic women. Clearly he was genuinely attracted to her to keep seeing her for a year, but it speaks volumes that she never met his friends. He left her for a woman much like the ones his friends were dating, and married her relatively quickly.

Just my half-formed musing on an RP topic :)

So I literally just turned on netflix and decided to try this show "Easy." I normally don't watch stuff like that but it's trending so I figured I'd at least see what it is.

Literally the first scene is a guy talking about a study showing how couples with more "gendernormative roles" (meaning couples that are more traditional) have more sex. Then this stay-at-home dad realizes he and his wife stopped having sex when they decided to make him a stay-at-home dad with the kids. Obviously the women in the circle hearing about this study put it down, saying it was feminist, and that the guy shouldn't feel emasculated if they make more or if they have to do the dishes.

Idk definitely interesting. I'll have to see how it concludes.

EDIT: don't know if I actually want to keep watching this. I get really cringey watching stuff like this...

This is mentioned a lot in IRC, but I have been spending a lot of time thinking about personality disorders, MBTI, love, and the Red Pill. I feel like certain traits and behaviors associated with MBTI and personality disorders are seen as wrong or negative, when they're just basic aspects of how a person works --- and by extension, fall in love.

I think it weighs heavily on how a person enters and sustains a relationship. For instance, when I'm in love, I fall deeply into a borderline personality disorder pattern of behaviors. Which scared me for a time. I thought I was weird and insecure for primarily being attracted to only narcissists or those who are similar.

Now I think it's just how I'm wired. I wonder how many RPWs, if they look into it, run into similar relationships: Looks unhealthy on the outside but serves as the only (or preferred) pathway to relational happiness, peace and growth.
