I don’t think it’s shallow at all to have a procedure for what would basically be “scar revision”. You’re not trying to do it for sexual gratification or to have someone notice you for the wrong reasons.

This is reconstructive surgery and I think you should absolutely do it if it will make you feel better about yourself. I don’t see this as shallow AT ALL

I don’t have issues with legit plastic surgery so you can look “normal.” Scar revision sounds just fine to me. If you’re talking about breast implants then that’s another story and my answer would be no.

I wouldn’t even consider this elective plastic surgery. It’s like when some people break their nose and after it heals end up having to have it corrected and straightened out.

I wouldn’t be evasive when people ask if you had a procedure done. Just say you suffered an injury as a child and were finally able to have it fixed.

If you want a specifically red pill perspective: reconstructive surgery isn't changing your appearance from what it would otherwise be. You're not providing misleading information about your breast/hip size (childbearing ability/appearance of fertility), or about what sort of nose your children will inherit.

Reconstructive surgery doesn't carry any social stigma, so I don't see why not... If it's safe and your body can handle surgery, you'll likely feel like you have your "own" face back without the injury/scar and that's a beautiful thing.

I had a 100% elective surgery done. I got a breast augmentation to take me from not-even-an-A to just under a C. I felt pretty before but just not quite "whole", my chest was more ribs than breast. I am very, very happy with the results.

The honest truth is that there will always be someone to turn their nose up at you for what you do with your appearance - too much this, too little that. You have to pursue your own health and happiness in this regard. Contrary to pop cultural opinion, going under the knife isn't like making a horcrux: your soul is still yours, as it was before the procedure. It doesn't take a good woman and turn her into a shallow bimbo, and abstaining won't magically make you virtuous.

I think in this context, what other people think isn't important at all. I had cosmetic surgery done before, namely having a mole removed from my face, and even that simple procedure made me feel so much better in terms of self confidence! I think there is nothing wrong with enhancing your look, and this includes plastic surgery. Even complex procedures, like breast implants or nose jobs, can be done in a way that looks natural and beautiful. If you feel like doing something to your body would really improve your self esteem, then I say do it. People who say that looks don't matter at all are lying. Looks aren't the most important thing in the world, but it still impacts your life.

If people notice the change in your appearance, explaining that you had a scar removed should be enough. If they still decide to judge you for it, that's their problem. Frankly, there's always going to be someone somewhere who is judging you and there's nothing you can do about it. Trust me when I say that cosmetic surgery has changed my life, and I'm certain it can do the same for you. I used to cry looking at my profile because the mole was just so visible, and I knew that it drew people's attention. Now, I feel super confident with my face, and don't have anxiety about people focusing on it. My only piece of advice is to go to a surgeon with great references, and from a reputable clinic. Cosmetic surgery can be pricy, but when it's a good surgeon, the results are so worth it.

I guess I’m on the other side of the fence from most of the ladies here.

I had wanted a tummy tuck for a decade, since my youngest child was born. The stretch marks went up to my ribs and I had a ton of loose skin. Weight loss and muscle building was never going to correct it.

My husband finally said yes. He suggested that I also get breast implants, since my boobs were deflated from years of breastfeeding. I was iffy about that but, after thinking it over for a year or so, I went ahead and booked my “mommy makeover”.

It was a painful and long healing process but well worth it. My husband can’t get enough of me. To be clear, he was never disinterested but now he’s hyper interested.

However, he has made it very clear that he does not want me to pursue any changes to my face. He’s fine with Botox or a mole removal but absolutely not ok with a facelift, even years in the future.

I think your scar revision is peanuts compared to what I would find acceptable. As long as your man is on board.

I think this is really different from what most people think of as shallow plastic surgery, like breast implants and lip fillers. It won’t make you look like you are vying for sexual attention, it will be restoring your lip to its natural appearance. I see nothing wrong with it.

This is reconstructive, not cosmetic. Which means you aren’t giving false genetic info. My guess would be you’d get more negative thoughts from people wondering what’s wrong with your lip than from the surgery. (Though I obviously haven’t seen you.) Mo reasonable person would have a problem with this.

Go for it. No one thinks about it nearly as much as you do, and everyone will forget you had the scar within a month or two. It’s obviously an issue you have (even if no one else cares) and investing in yourself is worth it.

I don't think this seems shallow at all; as many others have said, this is reconstructive. If it makes you happy, I would definitely say go for it.

If we're talking about pure elective surgery, my fiance and I actually discuss this quite often. We both believe as long as you're enhancing what you have naturally, it's not excessive, it's safe, and it'll make you genuinely happy or more confident, it's okay.

I had several moles removed from my face as a teen. It doesn't really come up in conversation and when it does, no one thinks much of it. I'm glad I did it. They made me really self-conscious. If anything, that's more shallow than removing scar tissue. I also had a breast reduction at 15. Again, no one's ever called me shallow for it. If it makes you feel prettier and more confident, it seems like a pretty reasonable procedure.

Scar revision like this I think is perfectly fine. However most men I've known are highly against plastic surgery for superficial reasons. As long as you're just correcting a,scsr though, I doubt anyone will have a problem with it.

I don't think your shallow for wanting surgery. I have had several scar revision procedures done but mine were for self-inflicted scarring. Reconstructive surgery is different in my opinion from just wanting plumper Stacy lips.

In general, I oppose invasive plastic surgery procedures (such as breast implants and tummy tucks) because there's too much risk involved for infection or other complications (even if you're under the care of an experienced and skillful surgeon) for an elective, purely cosmetic reasons. The only way anyone is getting me to go under for general anesthesia and cutting open my body is if they're taking out a tumor!

In your case, this seems like it would be a minor outpatient procedure so you wouldn't have the same concerns, but I would still seriously consider the risks of having it done, such as potential nerve damage to your lips or face.

No worries what will the others think. If you feel unhappy with your lips just go for it. I had lip surgery and do not regret. Honestly it looks good and mostly what I hear are nice comments. Well of course you have to count also with bad ones especially from jealous people. Just ignore it. I am sure that the surgery will give you more satisfaction and happiness in you life. I have already set the date at Forme clinic for another surgery. Want to have my breast done, so can not wait😊 I hope you will decide what is the best for you.
