Legal prostitution would radically change the game, as long as it's done the opposite of 'Nevada style', i.e. in Nevada legally every prostitute has to work out of a brothel and have a pimp, and this allows for brothels to either collude with each other or (more often in Nevada) just be located too far from each other to compete. The sexual market is actually not quite as painful to men in Nevada, but this has more to do with the presence of sex clubs in big cities like Las Vegas as well as illicit prostitution (prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas city limits but is never the less extremely common). The best way to do it would be to allow it to occur outside of brothels, allow brothels only if they are cooperative, disallow pimps, allow them to hire security if they need to or just use the police force for protection, cheaply license them on an individual basis ($500 and you're golden for like two years), mandatory STD testing, and of course not fine or prosecute johns. This would allow the price of sex to go down to something reasonable.

It's amazing to me that prostitution is stigmatized, yet women almost universally play the sex game as though money were their only concern. If prostitution were legalized the right way, only the hottest girls could make more than $50 per sex act, and regular women would have to be very non-overt about any and all of their monetary motivations, to the point that a lot of them would forget about greed entirely. Women who in today's market can play men, and basically prove to a man right off the bat that she only cares about money and still have him eating out of her hands, would mostly be SOL, because they'd be forced to either become prostitutes, or play the 'genuine connection / genuine love' game. These women are really bad at the latter, as long as they are dealing with men who are intelligent and also know that they can get sex and affection elsewhere. It irks me to know that I can't even tell these women off because it would lower my SMV and they'd just find some willing chump right away.

I never really saw the appeal of prostitution. For me the best sex is had with a partner who knows what you like, and you know what she likes. Love and passion also makes the sex better.

However, I agree that a legalization of prostitution would alter the mindset of both men an women, even if most guys don't use the services of prostitutes. Just the fact that you can go and get laid if you want without fear of being stigmatized would reduce sex in itself from the pedestal that it's currently placed on in society. It probably would be the best for women as well, as they would be accepted much more for who they are and not just because some guy wants to "get in her pants".

I think it's still a cultural thing and won't really change things in practice. Look at Australia, Germany and Canada for real examples about how things really don't change at all. Guys complain about women from all 3 places. Chico, California is a much better place to be a (young) man than Toronto by a long mile, but by your theory, it should be the opposite.

The escorting scene in Amsterdam and Germany both suck on account of legalised prostitution there. There will always be lots of guys in demand and very few decent girls worth going to. Prices go up, quality of service goes down.

I posted on this in another TRP thread recently so I thought I'd quote some of that here and add a bit too. Hopefully that's not against any rules.

Firstly, most females are whores when you really get down to it. They trade sex for provisioning, which in the modern world means money. I have more respect for a whore who admits she's a whore than I do for the soccer mom in the suburbs who married a boring beta bucks meal ticket. Secondly, legalized prostitution would be a great thing. A legal, safe brothel in town lets thirsty dudes get something to drink. Fewer thirsty betas leads to fewer orbiters, which leads to decreased opportunities for branch swinging and decreased female validation and entitlement.

This leads to chicks coming down off the pedestal and getting back to the kitchen, the laundry room and the gym. Or at least it's a push in that direction, a positive influence. But that's irrelevant to the question at large, because the vast majority of guys do have to pay. Lastly, to the guys who live in a place where prostitution is legal saying it makes no difference... Realize there are cross currents at work. And the feminist propaganda is national, international in fact, whereas my understanding of the legal prostitution countries is that it's mainly available in one or two cities, and certain parts of those cities at that. If so, the brothels have a limited sphere of influence, whereas the media carries feminism everywhere.

Also, it seems to me there is still a certain beta stigma attached to it in these places. Anecdotally, reading through the discussions on TRP, it seems the most vocal "I'd never pay for pussy" guys or "sex when you pay is boring" guys are often also the ones who mention that they live where it is legal. Well it's not legal where I live, but I've done it before and will do it again, and I see nothing wrong with that as long as you don't rely on it as a crutch.
