My girlfriend of three years and I have been rocky the last 10 months. We are both in our late 20s. I own my own business, I am a self made millionaire. She knew me before that. We both have autoimmune health issues. This played a part in the business I started. It's difficult for people to understand or relate with that. She does. She doesn't mind that I eat an unusual carnivore diet like Jordan Peterson. She was the first woman I connected with at an emotional level and was vulnerable with. I am grateful for that. Before that I was a misogynist MGTOW and considered women a threat and diversion. I can appreciate femininity now, especially the traditional warm loving kind she embodies.

She is a kindhearted trustworthy person which is rare. Sexually we have chemistry. I can do whatever I want to her and have. She has never been fucked like she's been fucked by me. We're into kink, BDSM, etc. She is extremely submissive and devoted to me, she dotes on me. She has a low partner count. I consider her a model woman in most respects. Her father was a former MLB player and her mother was a fitness model. They divorced when she was a child.

Here's my problem. I am not an emotional person and she is a very feely person. Over time she's become more emotionally needy and this takes up an increasing amount of my time which I need to dedicate to my work. She needs reassurance that I am there for her, that I am committed to our relationship, that I love her, etc. I have trouble telling her what she needs to hear. This manifests in all kinds of ways. It annoys me she doesn't trust my commitment to her by just realizing I pay for everything and give her more of my attention than anyone else.

One time I hired a new lawyer and praised him out loud, "Trevor my new lawyer is a genius, he's exactly what we need." She takes this personally like I'm saying she's not a genius and that I don't appreciate her. She'll ask me questions like if I would take a bullet for her. (Answer: I am a man, I would protect her from burglars but I wouldn't immolate myself for her.) My answers are invariably insufficient and I end up having long conversations about her feelings with her. I try to end these conversations as quickly as possible so I can get back to work but she won't relent. The conversations have gotten more frequent and long such that every other day we have a conversation longer than an hour where I am emotionally reassuring her. I have reassured her for 8 hours straight before. I am an extremely driven person and while I care about her I don't have time for this bullshit. It's gotten to the point a few times where I told her I wanted to break up before she relented and we stopped talking in circles.

I've leased an apartment for her about 20 minutes away so we no longer live in the same house. I thought this would mitigate the issue. It really hasn't. She works for me and I have to communicate with her every day on work matters. Because she works for me I sometimes reprimand her the way I would an employee who failed to do what they were supposed to. She is hurt by this and it leads to more feely conversations. She is depressed that she is disappointing me and perceives her new apartment like an exile.

All the shit talking and time wasting makes me want to break up with her. I don't need people in my life that waste my time and get in my way. But our lives are intertwined and when our conversations have escalated to me saying it's over or we shouldn't date she has contested this, not accepted it and attempted to reconcile. I fear that ending this relationship will require me to be very mean with her.

She brings me some value, she has a high level of emotional intelligence which I can lack and she has good aesthetic taste which helps with marketing. But by and large it's not worth the time wasting. I have spoken with relationship counselors, including one who gave a TED talk. This is sometimes helpful but I increasingly feel there is no future in this relationship. She has a lot of good but I can't deal with her emotional neediness.

I don't think I will find someone with the same kindness and good nature so easily again. I still have feelings for her but I resent the distraction that she has become.
