Hygiene, obviously. Do you look clean? Do you smell good? Are your hands and nails clean enough to touch my hoo-ha?
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Yeah good, good. Hygiene is important. What about attitude like vibe, personality, is there like a certain attitude that is just an instant “fuck nooo”?

I'm not a woman but it's arrogance
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link
I’ve also heard that however arrogance can sometimes be misconstrued to be confidence. It’s a fine line, so some relationships I’ve seen actually go against that, some so much so that it’s literally confusing. Like a black hole, impossible to fully comprehend.
[–]Dafiro93 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Arrogance is when you do it in a sort of way that diminishes others. I used to get called arrogant a lot in my early 20s
[–]1Dragon_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
That's the unfortunate part, if you can back up your confidence/arrogance then it probably doesn't matter
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I think narcissism is the big no no place. Like so in love with themselves they don’t have time for you. Can happen both ways tho. I’ve met some pretty narcissistic pieces of shit that are both genders.
[–]JanetInSC1234 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Confidence is when you like yourself. Arrogance is when you think you're better than everyone else.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
True, that’s a thin line in between though, an arrogant or narcissistic person doesn’t really show their true colors until after you meet them.
[–]ZoeticLark 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes and narcissism comes in many forms, often its a subconscious pattern and people who gaslight dont even realize they are doing it. Choosing to try to see that for what it is, hear the feedback or not, is another story.
[–]KingRemu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Arrogance is usually over-compensating because they lack true confidence.

Absolute yes: Being polite, showing good manners. Personally, I take great interest in men who can keep a conversation going, someone you can tell is paying attention to what you’re saying is really nice since there’s a lot of people who doesn’t really listen. Don’t hold yourself back, it’s noticeable. Be yourself and be respectful of everyone, focus on you and your date. If it’s a first contact just stay polite, friendly while keeping your distance, if you’re TOO friendly it can get scary.
Absolute no: Being super touchy right away, cursing a lot, someone who is on their phone the whole time or use it when the other person is talking. Don’t get political or start discussions on things you disagree with, it’s not a good first look. If there’s things you absolutely do not agree with then you can just walk away and save the bad impression you’d make. Making rude comments about people is not good either.
Physically, just be thoroughly clean and take care of your outfit, wear whatever you’d like and just make sure everything’s clean and preferably ironed or pressed, it makes every piece of clothing appear way better.
These are all my opinions though, and what I’ve discussed with my friends.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Hm interesting. So disagreeing on anything on the first date is bad? Or do you think that perhaps the first date is more to get to know the person.
The reason I ask is some people make take advantage of that and agree even when they don’t. Would you prefer the person was honest? Or just agreeable?
[–]higodefruta 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Oh not at all. You should always be respectfully honest. I think worded it wrong but I meant it more as making a big deal out of a disagreement and let it get to a full on discussion. I mentioned it because I’ve had it happened before with men I just met and it’s super awkward after. For context, I had opposing political preferences with a date, I noticed and dismissed it but he kept pushing the conversation in that direction, which completely killed the mood. This also has happened to me regarding movies and music genres, sometimes people will take it personal and it’s happened to me and friends a few times, so I think it’s worth mentioning even though most guys won’t get that worked up over things like that lol.
Oh yes I understand what you mean now. Making a big deal out of a preference and then pushing it. Yeah I’ve had that even with friends, if anything like politics or religion come up, I usually like to ask a question they might be interested about it.
Like for example if you were in control of everything what would you change? I feel it gets someone to open up, instead of just shut down.
I find that even with a friend just spitballing and having fun is better most of the time but when someone wants to have a serious discussion then you can but forcing a serious discussion onto someone is a recipe for disaster especially when you just meet someone for the first time.
[–]tot1721 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
Honestly it really depends on the person individually. I might like someone for being super funny and dislike someone else because I don’t think any of their jokes are good. I guess my immediate turn on is a funny man with a great smile. If he can make me laugh, hold a stimulating conversation and is passionate about what he’s talking about then I’ll be interested. Most men only tell you what they think you want to hear and it gets repetitive and boring.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I know, I’ve been that guy before. The problem is you get all in your head and overthink everything you say. Where as just being yourself, even if you’re passionate about legos or Mario, or something you might think others think is lame is going to be better anyway.
Totally get you.
[–]tot1721 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Yeah there’s definitely the line between overthinking everything you’re saying/having it pre-prepared before v. just being so interested that you just get lost in it. As a girl I’ve always been able to tell which the guy is doing and the first just comes off as too much. I had a guy message me a link on tinder to a YouTube video he made for me of him singing and playing guitar to my name. I appreciated the effort but when I thought about it more it was creepy that he put so much effort into it without knowing me at all. That gives me stalker vibes.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
It’s kind of like acting. You know it’s fake, there’s just something there you can’t exactly say what it is but it’s a vibe, like they’re reading something, they’re vacant from the conversation. And I do get the creepy vibe, I had a friend once that did something similar and it was just cringey for me but really annoying for the girl. It was like he was obsessed with her from day one, without ever knowing anything about her, but they did talk in person so I guess it’s a little different than tinder where you literally know nothing about the person.
[–]tot1721 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Exactly! I’ve had male friends who wanted to hook up and will say what they think I want to hear. They assume that I want to hear constant compliments when in reality I want someone who is going to make me think about things in a new way. Someone who will engage me and make me become a better person, and in return I’ll help them. It’s a partnership
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Totally you’re completely right.
Men and women have evolved such that we are compatible. We can work together. It’s like that saying “behind every great man is a great woman.” You can’t have one without the other.
Ok so this is probably an obvious question, but body type. Is there a specific preference? Like obviously you don’t want someone who’s like 300 pounds, but at the same time you don’t want someone who’s just roided out of their minds. Is there like a general look you usually go for?
That's going to be specific for every girl...just like guys like different body shapes. Each person probably has their ideal "type", but the right person can override that preference.
Yeah but there are more general features and personalities that most people will generally agree on. Most of what people have said does agree with what I personally think works so yeah.
[–]ZoeticLark 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I was just marveling about how women talking about substance here and a lot less about body type... like seriously its just not as important when we care way more about a baseline of being safe and treated like intelligent human beings and its a struggle to ensure that at times.
Oh man, it’s a struggle on the average Tuesday but yeah. Thank you for your response, have a nice weekend

How do you tell if a men is telling you what you want to hear?
[–]tot1721 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’s not really about what I want/they need me to hear. It’s more about if the conversation is flowing nicely and I can see that they really care about what they’re talking about. If someone is telling me about how they love their job but have no emotion in their words they don’t seem as trustworthy to me. Idk if that makes sense exactly, it really varies from person to person. But I personally love learning new things and when someone who’s passionate describes what they do, I often find it is easier to connect emotionally with them.
[–]Acceptable_Stop_7063 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Okay I kind of understand
[–]m0ssh3adsw0rds 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
A straightforward personality. Turn offs are lack of interest.. and self absorbed or rude comments about other people.
Totally, I find that too even if it’s a totally platonic friendship. Im not gay but one my friends was and he had only bad things to say about other people, long story short we’re not friends anymore. I get it.
[–]nofapHER0 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Law of state transference. If someone gives off bad vibes you will eventually start giving off bad vibes too. Definitely best to cut those people off.

Like a deeper calling yeah I’ve found that too.
[–]CowgirlBebop575 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I'm a sucker for a nice smile.
I really dislike when people change their opinions or statements to agree with me. It's dishonest and causes me to not trust what they're saying
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
What if the person acknowledges what you have said, then thinks about it, then goes back on what they said. What I mean is, if you’ve actually changed the person’s mind. Most of the time you’re right tho, people will just agree with you to agree with you.
[–]CowgirlBebop575 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I don't see it as dishonest if they actually seemed to think about it. It would still be odd if their new stance is the complete opposite of what they started out with at the beginning of the conversation.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Oh of course yeah if they just flip it’s just dishonesty.

[–]CowgirlBebop575 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
More like, they take on the thoughts or opinions of whoever they're around. Their opinion is super malleable.
Edit: An example would be someone that changes their mind depending on which news station they watch.
Oh I get you, yeah agreeable. By the same notion you don’t want some one who’s super closed off tho. Interesting, thank you for your response.
[–]Jademan_69 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
If you fake it right from the beginning any relationship will end sooner than later. Be authentic.
Totally, I agree jademan 69. I think a lot of people however think that seducing someone requires impressing someone. So they try and stand out, but they end up getting in their own head, ultimately fucking the whole thing up.
[–]Jademan_69 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes Oscar. In a world, where having the most followers equals "best" it's hard for many people to distinguish between reality and what's a social media profile....
Totally 😂 well, thank you, I appreciate your response.
[–]ViolenceisViolet 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Looks can only get a guy so far, if I can’t be intellectually stimulated that’s it for me. It’s all about the vibe, so let your guard down and just see what happens. All girls love to talk about themselves too, so if she’s interested or just feeling the vibe all you have to do is just ask her about herself.
Edit: there have been so many times I’ve been physically attracted to a guy, only for them to open their mouths and that attraction is instantly gone.
Ditto.

Do you have a preference when it does come to smoking?
Ooo and even better do you think vaping counts as smoking? The smell isn’t there, so I was wondering if it made a difference?
[–]Vinegar_Tits_9 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Definitely non smoking. That’s how I vet my online matches. If he’s a smoker, he’ll get deleted before he even says hi
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hm a little harsh no? What about vaping?
Cigarettes are very different to other hard drugs, I’m surprised that’s a definite no go.
[–]Vinegar_Tits_9 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I definitely won’t pick a guy who smokes, ever. Smoking killed my dad and I saw, and still see what my mum has gone through as a widow. I decided when he died, that I’d NEVER be with a smoker. Besides I don’t wanna make out with a guy that reeks of smoke. Vaping, I’m not sure about as it’s still quite new, the studies on vaping aren’t absolute. But as someone who is dating to find my life partner, I wouldn’t risk it…
[–]idunno324 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There has to be a vibe between us, if conversation is forced it's not going to work
[–]crjahnactual 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I am not female, but I think I can answer this question for you.
I am 54 years old, have dated hundreds of women, read thousands of essays about men written by women, and recently published The Outlaw's Guide to Dating.
Three points:
HYGEINE: It doesn't matter how physically attractive, muscular, or successful you are. If you are engulfed in a miasma of dental rot, swamp ass, and cheap cologne, you may as well be spraying Mace all over the nightclub. Women will be repelled by your aroma.
CONFIDENCE: This is often confused with arrogance or attempting to present as "Alpha" (whatever the fuck that means) which is a huge turnoff. Don't be a dick. The secret is being totally authentic and giving zero fucks what anyone thinks without being an asshole about it.
COMMUNICATION: Let her talk without dominating the conversation, talking over her, or being absorbed in yer phone. LISTEN to what she says and REMEMBER it.
Master these three things and your odds increase exponentially.
[–]chocolex23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
So from these three....
I might be good at communication. I can listen what the other has to say and give my opinions or thoughts on various things being kept on the plate. I like deep conversations.
On account of confidence... i don't see myself as a confident guy. I give a lot of fucks about what everyone is thinking about me or will think if i do this or that. I'm kinda a people pleaser and constantly want others to think good about me and when i disappoint someone or someone thinks I'm a bad person... i feel sad.
Now I'm not that attractive looks wise or muscular or successful... though i do shower everyday. I have never used a cologne or deo or spray or perfume or whatever. And personally they all seem/smell same to me idk why. I can't tell this one is good perfume or that one is good.. for me every perfume or cologne is good smelling so i have no knowledge about it. Tbh I'd even go for a cheap one cuz I'm kind of stingy when it comes to money :/ AH forgot to tell about my Hyperhidrosis... so basically i sweat a lot through palms and soles. Although I'm taking treatment to weaken my sweat glands it's not working that much and makes me worry that no girl would like me touching them cuz of my sweaty hands.
If we're talking about well dressed then I'll say i don't have any fashion sense... every cloth looks good to me. I've been told multiple times about why i had such outfit and i reply "cuz i liked it.. i thought it's good and cool" while according to them there's color combinations and variations which i don't understand. Uh.. here my stingyness comes into play too.
[–]crjahnactual 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Here is a secret weapon: Tonka Bean oil. Use that in lieu of cologne. Put a few dabs on your finger and apply to your neck, chest, scalp. Just trust me on this.
As for your thoughts on others' opinions of you, you need to get past that. Expect to be rejected... many times. Do not take it personally. That says far more about them than you.
Are you a pedophile? A junkie? A thief, snitch, or liar? No? Then you are probably a good person. Look in the mirror and be proud of what you see. Most people are superficial and shallow. Confidence will develop over time.
I believe in you.
[–]chocolex23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh i have never heard of Tonka bean oil. So you mean i use it as a cologne... ? I'll try searching where to find it.
Yes i do expect to get rejected (do i have to think/hope that I'll get accepted too ? Or just keep thinking that I'm bound to get rejected ? Hah that'd be too much negative i guess.)
Yea i do wonder that every person is kind of superficial and shallow and wants to show good things about them. No one wants to show their flaws. So does confidence comes just like that from within ? Uhm isn't the solution much easier than i expected 😅.
Regardless thank you so much for believing in me. Love you sir :)
[–]chopstickfighter 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
A) don’t be a people pleaser, but don’t go too far in the other direction and be a sick either
B) work out & get muscular
C) wear clothes that fit you
[–]chocolex23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thanks.
I'll do something about people pleasing thing. Also I'm trying to workout at my room but i lack continuity and discipline. I'm lazy and want quick results with less efforts which is impossible... ahh i complain a lot.
Yeah I mean he is right on the people pleaser. Needing social validation is unfortunately something we can’t do. There’s a good quote by Einstein which goes “I do not aim to be a man of success, rather one of value.”
Ok so the first thing, complaining ain’t going to help you. Anything you can’t control don’t worry about it, it doesn’t matter, you can’t change it so whatever happens doesn’t matter to you.
Second, working out/getting fit/losing weight requires a mentality. Pick 5 things that’d improve you life and do them, for 5 minutes a day. Just 5. Increase that by five as you see fit and you’ll build habits.
[–]rcollinsmac 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Are talking about physical
Edit: Answer I know this will start a sh*t storm: If they voted for Trump!
Or mental? I guess is the word. Some times someone can be really physically attractive but be immature or just annoying.

Lots of different things…are they who they said they were when we meet in person, am I attracted to them, do they seem interested in getting to know me or are they distracted by their phone the whole time, how they treat other people around us, do I feel any sort of connection with them, what kind of vibe am I getting from them. Sometimes the energy coming off them just doesn’t feel right to me and I want to get the hell out of there. Being too negative can be a real turn off. Smell as well. One guy who was super nice didn’t get a second date because of the way he smelled. Wasn’t a bad smell per say…not like BO or anything….just wasn’t a smell I could stand the thought of being all over me
[–]Timely_Still1942 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
if a man wears dior sauvage or just smells good and “manly”, i am alr on my knees my guy.
if he shows interest and asks interesting questions. imean, he gotta look the part, so if he looks handsome and/or is very attractive, again, i’m alr on my knees 💀
James Bond type? Or…
[–]daniellev1012 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The biggest turn on is their ability to make me laugh/smile. I think the biggest turn off is talking about all the things the have, how well off they are, bragging, and arrogance. I am all for a confident man, but there’s a fine line between confidence because you have a good sense of self-worth and just self-inflated, cockiness.
[–]brigitteLac 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Turn off: when they brag in an obnoxious way about money, travels, accomplishments etc.
Turn on: maturity, emotional intelligence, kind soul, vulnerability without feeling not like a man, being non judgemental, patience, taking care of yourself ( not being hot, but looking after yourself because it makes me think you’d take care of me or my loved ones and you have self respect )
If you’re good looking it helps ofc, but if you’re just not without the above you’re a red flag walking ( IMO)
[–]chocolex23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
What do ppl think about someone who would sacrifice himself or his feelings or happiness for others just so that everything becomes right or everyone is happy ... like a peaceful environment ?
[–]chopstickfighter 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You need to look after your own needs & happiness.
Yes I agree. Sometimes I feel like It'll make me happy if others are happy regardless of what happens with me. But I guess I shouldn't be harsh on myself.
[–]brigitteLac 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
In the long run that breeds resentment. You can mediate and compromise sometimes but you can’t be happy and make others happy if you’re miserable.
[–]chocolex23 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah compromising and adjusting can help some situations. But i guess we should look after ourselves too and should think about ourself before others...
[–]tartful_d0dger 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Someone who manages to balance charisma and humility is sexy as fuck. However, I understand that not everyone has great social skills, so it's a "good to have", rather than a necessity.
My hard turn offs are negativity and pushiness. Negativity as in complaining, about anything & everything, especially during the first date. Pushiness is self explanatory.
[–]Janey-Smith 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Manners and being a gentleman to everyone not just trying to impress me is a huge turn on and unsolicited dick pics and being rude or have emotional outbursts are huge turn offs

Turn off if someone who doesn’t take care of themselves physically and mentally. Also people that don’t go to the gym. People that watch news and want to talk politics
[–]HaikusfromBuddha 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]random-naija-guy 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Right? God forbid wanting to talk about serious, mature issues instead of the weather…
I thought women prefer to skip small talk half the time
[–]CowgirlBebop575 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Personally, talking about serious issues is fine. It's annoying when someone is an extremist and can't look at different issues with nuance. There are also people who will only date someone who agrees with all of their political ideas.
[–]HaikusfromBuddha 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Tbh it’s probably best to know their politicals ideals.
Don’t want to be in a relationship with someone three years into a marriage and then they go full in on that they don’t think women should get abortions.
[–]CowgirlBebop575 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed. Knowing their political leaning is important.
I'm just a bit hesitant to date someone else that is super political. I used to date a woman that was super political, nearly every conversation would drift back to something political. We agreed on most things but I found her activism to be a bit exhausting sometimes. It would have been a perfect relationship if she could have learned to chill sometimes.
I mean politics can be important but there’s a time and place. I do agree with you tho, keeping yourself clean and being hygienic is super important. The no news thing is interesting though? Why do you have that rule specifically?
[–]heywhatsup823471 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
Because it’s so negative and I like people that can think for themselves instead of following someone else’s agenda. People who watch the news also seem to be paranoid about what they hear and I’m into free thinkers
Hm pretty good logic. Thank you for your response.
[–]random-naija-guy 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I’m not a woman, but I find it interesting that a good number of the responses from women here are saying they want a “straightforward, honest guy who isn’t putting on a persona”, but isn’t that the entire point of this subreddit. To master the persona you put on to be attractive to the opposite sex? An aspect of pick up art (if you can call it an art) is that it’s inherently manipulative.
So then, would it be wise to just… improve your persona more so that women believe you’re being more genuine about yourself than you may be? Or am I missing something?

Gaining confidence in who you actually are is also a technique.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think that’s the main misconception about seduction especially if you want a long term thing. Being yourself but employing some of the tips can help with confidence, getting people to open up, etc. if you want a one night stand, I guess just pretending to be someone else might work but tbh, it’ll never result in being in anything longer term.

Stop calling women "females." Incel red flag #1
Really? I use them interchangeably. I don’t think using that term necessarily means you’re an incel. Should I have said “women of r/seduction” instead of females, and why?
[–]foreign_sorbet03 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yes, you should have.
[–]OreOscar1232[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Why? What’s the difference? I changed it but still don’t understand why you have this affinity for one term and not the other.

Learn to stand on your square as a man. If a random girl online can make you change without understanding why your changing… imagine a girl in real life.

A big dick, good looks, and a fat wallet. That's all that matters to women.
[–]JanetInSC1234 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Could care less about size of his wallet or his member. I want a person I gel with. Looks are nice, but everyone has a different definition of good looking.
[–]mtgxbuster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Highly doubt that
Trust me. Married 20 years to a fellow teacher. We make the same amount of money. He's average in size, which is perfect for me. We love each other because we think alike.

Girls when you say clean you mean showered, wax everywhere ?
U think it just means showered, shaven, dressed well, smell good, that sort of thing.

Be confident and self assured. Any ounce of self doubt or awkwardness and we’re out of there.
[–]JanetInSC1234 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Not necessarily. I like it when a guy is a little vulnerable.

This is advice for when they cold approach.
Nice face, nice smile are very attractive, but he has to be a good person as well. Acting like an AH is an immediate turn-off.
No assholishness got it thank you.

I need conversational breaks, moments of silence and for gods sake dont give me your life story on the first date, or ask me about mine. A first date where they ask you a bunch of personal stuff and then never ask you out again is not a good look or feeling, whatever the reasons for not going on a second date, it seems like really rude set up either way
Prior to a recent date he mentioned his ex, and that he is "totally over that" which indicated to me that he isnt over it at all. Indeed he dove deep into that past. Mean what you say and dont over explain things unless you really need to. Assume I'm intelligent and you wont wear me out with unenccessary extra, repeated information. ALOT of men still dumb things down and inside im cringing for them, smiling and nodding on the outside, saying i understand, got it, uh huh, to try to get them to get it, without being rude.. yawn. Learn to read your female audience.
To make things worse, profuse apologizing so then i try to make him feel better about what he was choosing to focus on. So exhausting!! I have to explain, its ok, we all have stuff but its the end of my work week and ive been listening to people problems all week, i want some light conversation, not to be treated as if i need a lesson on what abuse looks like. Ha!
If you let personal stuff out and it feels like too much, just aknowledge that and move on, dont keep making them make you feel better. Abuse sucks i get that, but being a victim can be used as an abusive control tactic too and to avoid the most painful truth of all, that if we are adults, we were there too and made at least some of the choices that led to certain results. Just leave the therapy dump coversations between you and your therapist. But dont avoid anything personal at all. Its a balance.
Mostly i dont want to be overwhelmed with either a barrage of questions or too much detailed info that i wont be able to retain or keep straight after just one date. Learn to appreciate little things, take conversational pauses and focus on mostly positive conversational subjects on a first date. If it gets deep and personal, thats fine, just bring it back to something neutral and light hearted, before too long!
Abusing conversational attention and hijacking mine is a turn off.
Yeah a lot of men, me included in the past, think that a date, flirting, or just fucking conversing with someone is an exchange of information. Not just light conversation, I totally understand where you’re coming from. Never personally seen the profusely apologizing part but I can definitely imagine it. Thank you for your detailed response.
Women live in a twilight zone of a systematic denial of their intelligence and the best film example ive seen recently is called Hysteria. I highly recommend it considering the funny fact that for some period of time there was a doctor that was wacking women off And it was considered a legitimate treatment for "hysteria" because they actually believed that women can't sense pleasure. Its a convenient lie to tell if you want to do displeasurabke things to another human. Men of that era didn't realize that the reason women didn't sense pleasure was because men never bother to give it to them or allow them the same privileges. A person who is treated like a dumb slave isnt allowed space for such things as personal.pleasure. That disconnect and that history is woven into our cell memory. I am reminded of it daily in all the little ways i am talked over belittled and dismissed. It still prevails. A man that sees that And can transcend psycholgical patterns woven into our society, without needing a gold star for evolving, will seriously have my attention. I will notice because they stand out like a becon of light, in a black and white world. That, and therapy. I can tell if a man has had therapy in his life or not, usually in the first few minutes of meeting. All this might sound strange, but it all comes down to safety. Am i psychologically safe with this person or are they subconsciously living out the projections of bygone eras? Majority of men are not safe emotionally for women (and vice versa- women are also caught in the projections and all the coping mechanisms they require) for this reason alone so its hard to address unaknowledged factors. I dont need to talk about it, i need to see change in action and thats the biggest turn on of them all.

The biggest turn off would be when a guy would try too hard to be something he's not. you know, trying to be something he thinks would be ideal for me instead of just being himself and making a genuine connection, if that makes sense.
Yes it does and thank you for your response.
