Flirting is not really a big thing even though it's a powerful thing but it's more nonverbal than verbal so its matters more how you say what you wanna say than the actual words that you're using. If you’re a guy trying to pick up a girl: From my perspective, the best way a guy could strike a conversation with me is to make it feel casual and unforced. My best tip is to talk about something you have in common at that moment (something visible to both of you, drinks, something inside the venue, the music, the bartender) and make a lighthearted joke.

For example, if it’s insanely crowded and you can’t really move, I would laugh if a guy said “I don’t think there’s enough people here” (sarcasm) and “seriously, this is not up to code” (joke). Leave the flirtation and subtle innuendos for later once you have spoken for a bit. This makes girls feel more comfortable. Avoid one-line openers that let the conversation die upon arrival. The goal is to say something that the girl can be receptive to.
