Be a cool dude that talks to everyone, not just girls.
[–]SigmundFreud 77 points78 points79 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I would go further than that. Develop a reputation as the cool dude who talks to entities that no one else can perceive, not just everyone.
[–]prollykindofhigh 57 points58 points59 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Cool dude who talks to demons
[–]SigmundFreud 32 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Back in my day the class demon whisperer would always get mad pussy.
[–]AntTheMighty 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I find this helps with vocal projection too as it forces you to talk louder than the static of the spirit box.
[–]jobadahut76 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would say you're missing out on a significant population. Develop a reputation as a cool dude who talks to interdimensional beings through worm holes, not just entities.

LOL 🤣
[–]MK2718 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This, as well as don't simply 'hit on them' but how about have an honest conversation and get to know them.
[–]RedEyeBlackEye1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
also, he should:
1) develope his "look".
2) fix his posture, walk with CONFIDENCE.
3) have strong eye contact, good smirk, and be charismatic with a side of abundance mindset(and on point kino game).
[–]HanEyeAm 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You've developed the confidence to talk with anyone. Awesome. Now limit your approaches to a select few who catch your eye. Maybe don't do cold approaches at all in the dining hall.
On campus, social networks make it a lot easier to meet women. Maybe join a few clubs, get to know some key women in sororities/clubs, and then leverage those for introductions. Save the cold approaches for random women off campus and in bars.
[–][deleted] 85 points86 points87 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Viewing talking to women as a science seems a bit strange.
Who cares man, just talk to women. If you're kind, you'll have a good rep. Just don't be creepy.

Username checks out tho

I'm worried I'll develop a reputation of the guy who talks to random girls in the dining hall.

[–]clown-analysis 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
it was an accident yeah haha -- but this was another throwaway, so it's all good
[–]Potential-Avocado598 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't JUST talk to women then. Mix in a couple men and make some homies out of it too. They have a term for it. It's called being social.
[–]jobadahut76 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm in college do you sit with single girls or groups of them? I'm tryna do the same thing
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
[–]ModeratorElbynerual 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You probably shouldn't just be sitting at tables with single girls out of nowhere, and if you do, you need to be able to read the situation very clearly and gtfo right away if your presence is unwanted.
[–]clown-analysis 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So I'm not sure about this. Especially in a college campus, my general vibe is super low-key. It's pretty much friendly chatting / honest conversation, and if it goes well, I'll get their number. But there's no overt flirting since I don't want to be "that guy".
I feel like being super low-key might make it ok to talk w/ lots of people in the dining hall -- but at the end of the day -- chatting a convo w/ someone sitting alone at a lunch table is fundamentally not low-key, no matter how chill I am about it.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why the dining hall? In the dorms right? With 30k students, can you eat at other dining halls in different dorms? Rotate dining halls, limit it in your own home dining hall, or don’t do the home dining hall at all.
[–]ShawnSimoes 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
What are you worried about? Getting a reputation as the fun guy who talks to everyone? You don't need to ask them all for their number.
[–]clown-analysis 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm worried the reputation would be "the guy who talks to random girls in the dining hall" which might be bad???
[–]maplemario 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Forgot the throwaway
[–]EmrysAllen 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Why is talking to girls bad? Like what the hell are you saying to these girls? Chill it with the math, just talk to people and don't be an asshole.
[–]bigblackshaq 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Chill it with the math
For real dude started coding "for i in range" and even as a CS major I kinda got weirded out💀
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
[–]EmrysAllen 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hitting on girls isn't bad. Girls expect to be hit on. It's what guys do. You aren't special.
[–]clown-analysis 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Actually wait, this is retarded. I feel like from these comments I should just vibe w/ everyone
[–]EmrysAllen 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's right.
Have you considered just doing approaches as you go about your day? I used to daygame in college by "sarging" as they say (going out just to daygame), and it always made me feel like a creep. It's less creepy when you just go out about your daily business and approach as you go. You also get access to a wider variety of people to approach. Examples of places you could approach: walking between classes, when getting groceries, in the library when you see someone cute (position yourself in a spot with a good view, and when you see someone interesting, go approach them or position yourself near them to approach), in like for food, etc... You don't just have to walk around an look for someone to approach.

Funny considering the recent post of the Asian guy who thinks he needs to move to the other side of the planet to have a chance with women.
Lowkey is always better IMO. Women do talk and you can get a negative rep in some circles. However, understand that some will badmouth you to their friends and then sneak home with you to fk.
So don't care too much about the rep. But always play it cool and let the girl know you'll never shame her, you'll always have her back.
[–]AmpleSling 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Damn, this is the first time I see coding is used in approaching girls. Very interesting!
If it makes you feel better, I’m also an Asian and I constantly approach girls at the mall. I’ve approached the same girls for like three times. It happens man. But i get used to it.
Maybe when you approach girls at dining hall, just approach them with the intention of being friends. If something develops during your interactions, its a win!
you gotten laid that way?
[–]Ambitionlessness 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I actually had that reputation in college. I’d approach girls on campus and say you’re cute or whatever crazy nonsense I could think of.
Every so often a girl in my class would tell me her friend had someone hit on her, and she’d say yeah that must be Peter.
That said I’m sure some of the conversations about me were negative, because I didn’t really know what I was doing, and I was being obnoxiously forward with my approaches.
If I could go back and do it all over I would have been a lot more chill about my approaches. Compliment something other than their looks. Ask about their major, how they’re feeling about it, try to vibe first, then go for a number.
Each person you’ll approach on campus you’ll probably see again, and that can give you anxiety about rejection but that can also be really good if you are just nice and conversational, rejections you get the first time you meet might turn into something later.
Low key is the way to go 👍

Thanks for the honest report w/ your experiences! I'm glad to hear another Asian's stories on this subreddit.
I think I've settled on being very low key, maybe just chatting people up in line and if we're vibing then offering that they sit with me.
P.S I really liked the video you have of the popsicle + the donut.
[–]Ambitionlessness 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks a lot bro!
[–]AelfredRex 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What's the rush? Get your food, chill, and enjoy the scenery while you eat. Catch a few eyes, exchange a few smiles, and some girls might even approach you.
girls don't approach dudes in the dining hall
[–]muff_marauder 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
If you're bad at cold approaching, don't practice at college obviously. Then you won't get a bad reputation for being terrible at flirting.
If you aren't already physically attractive and well dressed, make yourself so. Then practice cold approach off-campus until you've got it down or at least the confidence to do so. Then hit the campus.
Once you're successful at campus, you might get a rep for being a fun flirt and even a rep for being great in bed -- both assets for a man.
[–]gangweedsavedme 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe save the active socialization for venues, and try passive socialization in other places. Like a simple comment passing by, if they’re interested they’ll react a certain way, or it may lead to a fun conversation
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
College game IS social circle game. Period. If you're cold approaching an environment you go to regurlarly, you're burning your chips. Look to make as many female friends as possible instead of sniping. Does it make sense?
[–]Lifedeather -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you hit on 100 woman at the cafeteria and all girls know about you and inform their friends you are coming look forward to a campus representative contacting you with a sexual harassment charge
[–]calycostyle 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Do things and don’t expect anything in return.Be a source of giving and just have fun.Dont worry too much about your reputation just don’t be creepy
[–]Red-Panda 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ask yourself, what are you aiming at with a cold approach to begin with?
I've never been good at one night stands and such, but I've done alot better talking to anyone but normalizing in my head that they are a person like me. If you add mystique around the gender of interest, you're probably view it as a game more than anything else.
[–]teamblinder 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Get into FAANG. Girls will be drooling over your TC. Want deeper connection? Read philosophy until you find topic you feel passionate about. The difference will be of night and day. Make a couple of friends or just go out in social places and work on your own (if working remote) to avoid the loneliness (it fucks you mind and accelerates aging).
[–]LakersAreTerrible25 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
People are grown in uni. Reputations no longer mean shit because of the sheer volume of chicks there. Most big institutions have thousands of dimes walking around at a given moment. Shit I'm in eng, so I have to approach girls I randomly see
I wouldnt do that. We’ve a guy in our high school who’s so desperate he started hanging out with the juniors (he’s a senior). And every guy i know think he’s so weird. And to be honest we dont really like him.
On the other hand, if you build up a reputation with the boys and become a popular guy, maybe it would work.
However i would just download Tinder or smt and then get to talk with girls around you, and hit on girls solely at parties.
Good luck!

College is not about going in with an agenda, it’s about discovering who you really are and could be in the next chapter of your life. Let things unfold a little bit.
[–]carissaxu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cold approach dudes for starters.
[–]eyesopen1111 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
OP, are you here to waste our time? You’ve got at least two different throwaway accounts on this thread alone, so why not stop with the bullshit.
Join a fraternity, if you really are in college. Hang out with guys who get laid a lot and have at least 20 sexual partners in their history. Stop cold approaching until you have had an experienced guy watch you, just to make sure you’re not the beginner who has read nothing and learned nothing about seduction.
[–]salviauser12 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Bro, this seems a bit too technical. I know your Asian and try to model/calculate every step in your life (joking), but don't worry so much about it. Just be chill and have fun with them.
You got this! :D
Why are you doing stats?
The only statistic that matters here is that you’re at a college of 30k people. That means no one knows you, and the college is so big that even if you fuck up the school won’t care. If your college was 1k, then I would say worry.
If you do the cold approach, expect the cold shoulder. I’m also in college and I’ve approached a few girls and gotten nothing, but I already have a few girls in my dms.

lifestyle design AKA social circle game - join a club, collect instagrams, post stories, arrange low pressure social gatherings , tell them to invite a friend, rinse repeat. after you get some traction, your reason for talking to girls at the dining hall will be to invite them to your party/meetup/happy hour. “hey you look cool, what’s your name? you should come to my party saturday, invite a friend”
