Just seem interested in him. Lots of eye contact. Had a girl grab my arm on a first date recently that was a huge turn on.
[–]charlottehans 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
hmmm... so should I try and be more talkative or less talkative? I don't wanna just sit and stare
[–]Therocksays2020 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
More talkative but if you say you struggle with conversation being physical is the way to go.
[–]charlottehans 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I try and avoid being too physical on the first date usually, don't wanna seem too eager.
[–]Therocksays2020 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
Curious what you had in mind to impress him then?
No one is asking you to touch his penis. Holding his arm. Etc are all ways to drum up interest
[–]charlottehans 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You make it sound like it's easy to impress lol
[–]Therocksays2020 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If a man is on a date with you he probably sees something in you.
Men crave physical connection and good conversation
[–]Oralue2 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If YOU want to touch him, a light touch on the forearm or bicep when you’re making a point or telling a story can be really natural and warm:
Light touch with your fingertips “You know what I think is super interesting?” Could even tease a little with the same gesture but not actually touch.
Also use his name occasionally, all humans love that. “That’s such a good question, Ryan”.
[–]xxchhfdd35325 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Seriously it just seems hard sometimes we guys get so dense we accidentally ignore signs esp very subtle stuff so if he’s on a date w you it’s because he wants to be there if he’s smiling like an idiot chances are good he’s into ya. Just smile back make eye contact laugh at his stupid jokes and give him a great big hug. Unless hes an asshat which will be clear as day by the way hes acting he’ll be stoked af. At that point feel free to put the moves on him i had a woman kiss me first i freakin loved it
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Any man that stops fucking with you bc you put out on the first date wasn’t feeling you that tough anyways.
[–]MrNobody___ 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Be authentic.
Sometimes trying to impress the other person will backfire.
It's bad if you're answering everything with only one word.
[–]charlottehans 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
ok
[–]inconspicuous464532 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I really second this. It's very cliche but act yourself. I also agree with one comment made earlier about paying your half of the bill , I think it's a very nice gesture and tells the guy that you actually valued your time and didn't just want a free meal/drink.
Furthermore I think your age gives more insight because i'm around 18 and for me it's finding a really funny girl that's just a good laugh. But it might be different at your age?
More cliche to add to the first is make an effort but don't try be someone you are not. Give it a good go to make those interesting conversations but if he is not reciprocating then screw him it's not for you.
Another option could be to be quite honest with him, sorry *nervous giggle* I can get very nervous sorry if I was not being too talkative but i had a reallt great night" - this shows him although you perhaps came across as not interested (because you forget what you are thinking he may also be thinking about himself I.e. that hes being boring) you did enjoy your evening. Also this means his reaction to you saying this shows a lot, if he's dry and just like "aha ok" - move on. He might begin to explain he was nervous too and you lot can have a good laugh.
Sorry this is kind of long but I think some of this is quite important.

Be a woman and turn your fucking phone off. Ask some questions about himself. It doesn't take much.
[–]charlottehans 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I always switch my phone off, sounds like you had some bad experiences
[–]Carn8_103 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wish more people would turn their phones off. I CAN'T stand it when someone replies to every text right away and then the conversation is about her text for the next 20 minutes. I just want to mutter "I hope the person on the other end covers my drink."
Be you. Be polite. Be genuine. Be attentive. And don't be nervous. Chances are the person across the table are just as nervous
[–]Alpha-Charlie-Romeo 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Be a little bit straight forward and tell him that you're a bit awkward and apologise if you're not good at holding the conversation. It might help break the ice with him, but at the very least he won't think you're not interested just because the convo went dry.
Nervous giggle is cute. So that's fine.
Just be engaged. Think of questions to ask him about himself. Tell him about something you did recently that you found fun. Eye contact is important, I've been on countless dates where the woman spent all her time staring at her food, at other people, at her phone and so on. Basically they were looking everywhere but at me which really really sucked.
As for conversations, go into detail a lot when he asks you questions. Otherwise it'll make him feel like he's just quizzing you. So for example if he asks where you live, don't just tell him the name of the place; describe it. Mention something that it's famous for. Tell him your favourite spot there. Something you like about it, where you went to school and so on.
At the end of the date, if you enjoyed yourself. Tell him that. That'd be great.
Oh and avoid the phone.
[–]lefthandedaf 22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
I’ll be honest. Look as hot as possible is priority number one. It’s literally 80% of the equation. All remaining tips: eye contact, give a compliment to stroke his ego, laugh at his dumb jokes, and be sweet/nice. That would do it for me. Giggling is very cute btw!
[–]buthamorgsg 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Seriously though, I look at some of the girls that get me interested and it makes me realise how much of an easily manipulated peanut I am. If I find you cute or attractive and you give me a compliment and giggle at the shit I say. You've got me sold.
[–]donelgringo 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Giggling isn't bad at all. If the guys into you he'll take it from there.

Pay for the date
[+]charlottehans -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
no way lol, if he's interested he should pay
[–]Bestchamp27 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What if it’s just your half? What could be so bad about paying for just your half of the date? It shows you’re interested and that’s something that would impress them.
[–]EU-Howdie 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Indeed, pay for the date, buy the drinks. And ask when you two can see eachother again. That is what a woman did to me and we are a couple since then, now 20 years.
[–]Medical_Reflection 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Show him one of your skills. Eg. My ex was a really good hula hooper and I met her at a hoop jam in a park. Was impressed by her hooping skills and we hit it off.
[–]charlottehans 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Medieval_ladder 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey sounds cool. If a girl knitted me a hat I’d probably keep that forever.
[–]xxslaying 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ig be really engaged in the conversation with body language and eye contact and wear something hot
[–]gamedwarf24 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I like to remember an episode of Big Mouth, which I'm paraphrasing, "Just do what you like to do normally and bring them along." In the same sense of conversation, just talk about the things you like, for example Mortal Kombat action figures, and then ask him if he likes anything like that. People like to talk about themselves, so asking them questions, like how many siblings do they have, what do they aspire to be, do they have any cool vacation stories. You can google a million topics to bring up, but the best results will come from topics that appeal to you and your own heart. Basically, project yourself, and the right people will be attracted to it.
[–]Bigdaddy_V1 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ok I’m not here to judge u or give u instructions as what to do or not do, because u already know the answer. But I’ll suggest u work on urself and ur mindset if u feel as u stated above then there’s insecurities, these insecurities will stay with u even if u impress him later down the road he’ll feel them too and that’ll take a toll on ur relationship. So take care of urself deal with them insecurities
[–]jtikihead 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes! Take care of yourself, and the universe will guide you. Don't worry about anything except your mental health. Always stay happy and do things that make you happy. Godspeed.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
All you have to do is care. Sounds like you’re already ready!
[–]tastyscottchegg 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hey. I am by no means a dating expert but comments on here seem a little aggressive so hopefully I can help a little lol...
Try not to stress too much (I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times) but he probably feels exactly the same as you! Try and have fun, ask about his interests/what he does or try and get some fun stories out of him. If he’s polite/interested then I’m sure he’ll ask the same :) This should be more about whether he is right for you, rather than whether you are right for him
I often try and imagine how they’re feeling instead of focusing on how awkward/nervous I’m feeling, which does give me a bit of confidence and helps me forget how nervous I am.
Goes without saying but please don’t use your phone unless you absolutely have to, nothing worse than someone treating a phone like it’s more interesting than a face-to-face conversation
Hope this helps!
[–]charlottehans 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Haha why does everyone think I'm glued to my phone
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Sleep with him and be good at it.
Smile, be social, stand out, be attractive
[–]charlottehans 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ya and then never get called back...
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not when it's that good
[–]X-Centric -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How much do you want to impress him on this first date? You think you might be very compatible for a relationship? You could write a letter explaining how it feels to be around him or share time, but who knows, might scare him off if it's just the first date.
[–]aerial_coitus 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Be nice.
[–]AmmoTuff182 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I always like when a girl asks questions about me. Makes me feel like they’re equally as interested. Also be pleasant, polite, and nice to be around and he’ll notice!!
[–]Juliomorales6969 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Straight answer with no bullshit: just be yourself, talk, don't wait for him to talk, find common things to talk about, don't be coy and be straight up. I'd be happy in a date with a woman with all this.
Keep giggling! Guys like girls that laugh at everything. It’s cute and makes us feel funny
[–]Placated_Venom 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is a big one, don't force him to start and lead all the conversations nothing kills a good mood more for a guy than feeling like he's talking to a person with the vocabulary and social skills of a brick wall.
[–]Dragonian_Royalty963 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Initiate physical contact so he is comfortable doing it, reciprocate his energy and advances (if he isn’t being a total retard and is somewhat smooth about it) so he feels comfortable escalating, make him feel like he can trust you and that it is safe to be vulnerable, make him feel like you’re genuinely interested in him and are not judgemental, be sweet and affectionate, let him lead but help him if it seems like he’s struggling (reminders that you are comfortable with him and like his vibe), preen while making strong eye contact, reassure him when he seems hesitant, and be open and spontaneous. Most guys have a huge subconscious fear of being creepy or coming on too strong so we hold back. It’s usually not a lack of confidence but a worry of being labeled as something negative. If you do all of this you will have made a lasting impression because most girls are honestly kind of boring and immature expecting them guy to do all the work. Be a woman not a girl. Be the feminine compliment to his masculine energy. Make him feel like a man*** This is super key. He will remember how masculine he felt around you
[–]Watercrown123 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Personally, my interest starts with whether or not a girl is attractive so that’s basically the lowest level bar to clear, but if he’s on a date with you chances are you cleared it.
Secondly I really need someone who’s intelligent and shows it... but that’s very much a me thing so your mileage may vary.
Try to be truly interested in anything he properly enjoys, like if he loves working on cars (and for the example let’s assume you don’t even if you do) then try to get him into a zone where he feels free to just rant on about cars for half an hour. That’ll really make him feel like you care because you didn’t just brush his interests off because they aren’t stereotypically girly or something and on top of that he was able to talk about something he loves with you.
Otherwise, like others have said, be as feminine as you can be. Truthfully us guys are going to have trouble identifying what that actually means but it really is true that a properly feminine girl who makes us feel like a man will win our hearts pretty quickly.
As a final other thing, touch is pretty important, especially these days when lots of men are paranoid about sexual assault allegations. If you initiate the touch then it’ll be way easier and potentially less stressful for him to touch you and for the chemistry to start.
Just be able to hold a convo and show genuine interest in him with your questions and overall presence. Don't hold back. The rest is on him
[–]Medicine_Adventurous 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Be hot and as long as you’re not absurdly annoying then you can literally do or say whatever you want and men will worry about how to impress you
Have a piece of paper in your pocket or on your phone with a few questions or just topics of conversations and if you feel awkward or you're running out of things to talk about just go to the toilet take some deep breathes and check what you have written. Chances are it will go smoothly and you won't even need it. Good luck 🥰 x

Laughing at jokes and just asking questions and answering his questions gets you a long way. Maybe 'accidently' grab his arm or hand as someone pointed out already too.
Well, you a woman want to put some effort in? You're an absolute legend
[–]Great at coke approachSnooHesitations4922 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You are a woman, therefore u are allowed to be awkward and giggle for no reason, it dont turn us off or anything, in fact it's the opposite, these to us are a big signal u are interested. Compliments work really well on men too, in fact we always have to fish for more😅 Use the word "sexy" and we will start striking different poses to see if we are even sexier🤣
