I’ll say again what everyone else has said. Service workers like your waitress are literally paid to be nice to you. So many guys misinterpret this and hit on those women to the point it becomes downright annoying to them. Go hit on women in bars or clubs, y’know, places where they actually go to be hit on. Don’t corner some poor woman at her job where she cant get away from you or turn you down without feeling awkward/uncomfortable.

That said, if you really have to do it, try doing it in a subtle non-threatening way. Like leaving a simple message with your number on the receipt/cheque. If you dont hear anything back, then there’s your answer. Always remember she doesn’t owe you anything, and if she does reject you, leave it at that. Persistence isnt charming, its creepy and it’s stalker behaviour.

Okay former waiter here. Listen she is living off tips. You want her to practically blow you. Leave a high as shit tip say it's not a mistake then ask her if you can have her number. That is the way to get to 50%. Yes 50% chance of her considering you for a momment of getting her real number.. Waitresses literally will flirt, show off titty meat, smile, compliment you, we are hoes looking for a trick. My girlfriend insists that it’s ok for men to hit on service workers. She said she was frustrated with me that I never did because that’s how we met. I used to be interested in waitresses and want to flirt with them, but I gave up on that a while ago.

I stopped for several reasons. The biggest reason is the social awkwardness/negativity of it. On one side, so many people think it’s not a good idea. Look at how many people just here in the comments oppose it. On the other hand, the setting implies that at least a handful of people will be near, so talking to her in such a way could be awkward. She’s also just doing her job. By default, she’s not looking to be interested in someone there. Even in the 1 in 10 or 100 that is actually interested in the customer flirting with them, still a bit awkward because of the work setting.

This goes not just for waitresses but really just anyone working in general. Don’t flirt with working people/people you met at their place of work while you’re a customer.

Go in for dinner again. Be sure to share name and be comfortable. Bust her balls and get her to laugh and be comfortable. Get her to wanna hang at the table a little longer.

She's a waitress, not a slave man. I was a bartender for years, trust me; plenty of waitresses met their boyfriends who came into the restaurant.

HOWEVER;

Just don't be a weirdo. Leave your number on the customer copy of the check with a "You're cute, call me sometime - (your name and number)"

If she's in, she'll text you, if she's not, she won't. Waitresses are pretty upfront and slightly more aggressive than non-service industry girls.

If you don't hear from her, don't return for at least a month and don't mention it again. She may have been involved in something that is on the tail end when you first gave her your number but it could be over a month later and if she sees you, she may reconsider if you're a chill normal guy.

I personally don't hit on service people or workers because it feels incongruent with abundance mentality. Why bother someone who's being paid to be nice to you and could be put into major awkward professional situations by your advances when you can go hit on millions of women not in that situation?

I also think media way over glorifies the idea of "picking up the cute barista." Why does a barista, who's not very developed in her career get to be the most desirable woman out there to men? What's she done to deserve that? Why don't they glorify attempting to date successful and more self actualized women? Service people are just the low hanging fruit desperate men go after because they're easy to access and they're being nice to get money.
