So recently, I was just browsing /r/relationships I do this on occasion for fun, sometimes I like to give my honest advice and opinions.

I recently came across a post in there where a guy has a crush on a barista at his local starbucks. He asked for advice on how to approach.

Naturally, a woman jumped in and gave him some pretty shitty advice, here is the advice she gave

"Write your name and phone number on a piece of paper with a note like this, "Hey - I didn't want to make you feel pressured or uncomfortable in front of your coworkers, but I think you're really cute and I'd love to take you out sometime. If you're interested, here's my number XXX-XXX-XXXX" Go order a refill. Slip her a folded up bill to pay for the refill and have the note tucked inside. Tell her to keep the change and then leave the Starbucks with your drink, so she can consider it without your nervous eyes darting back to the front counter."

I couldn't resist, I jumped right in and left my two cents on the matter

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I hope this worked for you, but you would have come across really weak. For future reference, the next time you want to ask a girl out, walk up to her, look her in the eyes, and ask her out. That way she either says yes, or no, and you dont look like a total dipshit if she says no, because you can just keep carrying on with your life. It wont be awkward unless you make it awkward."

This then spawned an evening long back and forth between myself and a few women in the sub discussing how my way would be creepy, i was accused of being inconsiderate, etc etc.

I started out this conversation yesterday with well over 750 karma points. I woke up today with 600. Apparently, /r/relationships atleast, is not down with being confident and asking someone out.

I find this extremely funny, especially since we know that if we met any of these people out in the street, or at a starbucks, at the bar, or wherever, our approaches would be 100 times more effective than leaving a note like a mother fucking middle schooler.

What do you guys think? Has anyone noticed this type of resistance, at least on the surface? Id love to hear your experiences with this type of perception.
