All too often, there are these hot-button posts pop up on Seddit about some guy who wants advice with a girl that's a friend of a friend, or a classmate, or this one girl but she's kind of crazy. Sometimes it's a virgin (religious or SAP), sometimes it's a WOW player who stepped into natural sunlight and managed to chat a girl, sometimes it's a normal shy guy who just doesn't chat up women and sometimes it's a normal normal guy who occasionally meets girls through friends and gets laid on occasion. Everybody gives their 2 cents, there's never a followup, and odds are that OP doesn't post in Seddit again until a few months down the road, when the situation repeats itself.

I'm strongly reminded of this classic old post by Owen Cook during his early days @ ASF where he describes a disconnect between someone who's trying to meet women piecemeal versus guys who are relating to women through consistency, skillset improvement and observing trends across many instances of meeting women.

If you're not GOING OUT regularly, why are you here? It sounds inflammatory, and I know there are outliers (lurkers who are trying to get motivated, guys who used to go out and have something to offer, women curious about the scene), but seriously: why are you here?

This isn't a subreddit for guys who never cold approach but want a tip to help escalate with Suzie in Geometry who might like them. Pickup is a lifestyle choice where you regularly go out and do this. We're supposed to be a collection of guys who are practicing a skillset and improving and making practical distinctions along the way. Our mindsets are different from the average guy (to clarify, neither better nor worse, but simply having different beliefs about abundance, options, women's behavior, etc.) and with that different mindset comes a different set of habits and assumptions that will distort any advice that we could possibly give Average Joe in Geometry.

I'm not complaining about the signal:noise ratio here; it's great and I love the subreddit. My hope is simply to inspire guys on the fence to go one way or the other, as they're doing nobody a favor by occasionally popping in to ask about some variation of oneitis. I also apologize in advance for both offending anyone and not offering a constructive alternative to solve the problem (beyond GTFO).

TL;DR: Self-improvement is about consistent hard work. As a community dedicated to self-improvement, as quoted by the sidebar, if you're not doing your homework consistently, your needs probably aren't going to be met here.
