Woman here. The number of posts this week with guys saying they can't approach the 9s and 10s makes me really sad, so I wanted to provide a realty check. In particular, many of these women would love to talk with you if you would just approach, even if it might not lead to more than a thank you for noticing them. This is especially true for women over 25. In the last two years I have only ever been hit on in person (even kind of) twice: (1) one guy at a professional gala who said he thought I looked nice, then basically stopped talking when I said thanks and asked him about his thoughts on one of the speeches and (2) one guy who followed me out of a Forever 21 to the parking area--I wasn't physically attracted to him and being approached in a parking area made me a little afraid for my safety, otherwise I would have stuck around, but I said a big genuine thank you and wished him luck. (Update: (3) Gym guy who had been making smalltalk the last few times we saw each other there asked me out today. He worked out next to me, then waited for a break in my set to tell me about something he likes. Then he asked me to join him to do that thing one day. Easy peasy.)

I really want more people to approach me. It makes me feel good about myself. I like meeting new people. I'm open to it. I think men are intimidated, but the worst I'll do is walk away if someone is rude (like using crude language or being mean) or I feel unsafe. If someone is being classy and having a conversation, I'll stick around and get to know them. Don't think you won't be interesting to her. Do be nice and friendly about it to see if she's receptive first before going further.
