Tinder should be used as a side quest..don’t rely solely on dating apps as the results can be hit and miss..it’s a nice addition to your dating life but it’s best to manage expectations

You need exposure. Increase your potential pool size. Put yourself in situations where you will meet more women.

Join clubs or social groups. Get a job with a lot of social interaction. - lift your head up and pay attention. Start random conversations.

I would say, unless you're pretty lucky, you're going to be disappointed. Dating apps are just a way to meet people. No matter what you're looking for, the skills, personality, and experience you need have to be developed IRL first. Dating apps won't change who you are, so it'll still be you trying to strike up a conversation with basically a stranger who you know at least superficially finds you somewhat attractive.

My first GF ended up just being a classmate I studied with anyway, so the dating apps didn't matter. Since using dating apps after the break-up things are progressing better but only because of what I learnt from my first relationship.

You're 18. You should be surrounded by tons of women all the time, every weekday at least, in high school or college. You're literally in a bubble where everyone has the same job: student. Life gets much harder after school. You have it so easy right now and so use it to your advantage. In fact, it's the easiest time in your entire life -by far- to network and meet new people.

Yeah, but don’t rely solely on it. Ngl, I should follow my own advice but I met my ex on tinder. Just gotta have decent pics and consistently swiping until your swipes run out each day so that you are in the algorithm. Message first, establish a date within a few months, preferably get their number but some will only give snap or insta. If you can get their number, your success rate goes up tremendously. And be very patient because it’s a slow process if you rely solely on dating apps.

Just try it, each person has a different experience. But dozens of thousands of people use it for success daily. I can tell you it can work wonders for sure.

How do you even use tinder? Do you just swipe right until you get a match or do you use those impressions to send a msg? I dont even know if the impressions reset after awhile.

You might catch a couple on the apps. Far more when you go out in public and show your face and the huzz get to feel your energy. Nobody is born knowing girls lil bro, we meet every one. Parties, kickbacks, events, you see one you want or you see one that wants you, go for it. (All of this is assuming that you are gearing up to do SOMETHING with your life, girls love a guy that is focused on his grind, they come with it bro trust me)

What hobbies do you do that are high value? What photos do you have yourself doing them? Do you have friends that can take your photos doing fun things around town, or travel? Do you go to social outings were you convey social status? are you willing to put in effort selecting and editing good photos of you that make you look better then real life, are you willing to pay for a subscription? If the answer is no to all these questions tinder will not be worth it and you won’t get many, if any dates from it. Dating apps in 2025 require a strategy and a 100% effort. Your bathroom/mirror selfies won’t get you anywhere on dating apps these days. most guys just can’t do this right.

Just try it. At 18 probably wont have a ton of lucky but it did get me laid a couple times. At that age. Something worth noting: at 18 youre value on tinder is the LEAST it will possibly be. The pool of women interested in dating 18 year old guys is most 18 year olds and maybe half of 19 year old girls. But when you get to like 20, your range is doubled as you can hit more like 18-23. So dont get discouraged. If youre decent enough looking and have good pictures you can probably get some.

When I was 18, everyone had opposite-sex friends. And friends-of-friends (whom you might get a date with), etc.

That's probably the root cause of your problems, not connecting with women as people well. And if that's the case, Tinder probably won't help you unless you're tall with the body of a Greek God and awesome jawline.

Just live. They’re out there you just have to find them. Job. When you go to the grocery store (Target, Walmart, etc). Gym. Hell even out getting something to eat, such as fast food or dine in restaurants.

Your first priority should be bettering yourself and just living life. Your 18. Gym, eating right, and making money yet not blowing it should be your top priorities.

You’re forcing it and not letting it happen naturally.

This advice will also do you good in everyday life but just when you do meet those women. If you force trying to find women you’ll end up forcing yourself on those women as a result.

If you keep this in mind you’ll find yourself in situations where you’ll run into women left and right. Some may even come up or simply put themselves in your orbit.

I'm from the generation when online dating was still "taboo" at least in Western Europe, back then I thought "No looking for a girl on the internet is for losers".

Then changed my mind and thought the opposite "as long as you get succesful in dating you're not the loser, staying stubborn does make you lose".

It's funny because one time I had a reaction from an unattractive girl that was teasing me, you know she was talking about it with a tone as if I were the loser, now obviously I'm quite sure she ended up going on it later in life as well.

I'm in my late 30's and ... well the world has changed quite a lot since my early 20's, so obviously it's just way different and sometimes in a weird way.

I tried to date in the streets (when it wasn't considered harassment back then) before moving online with a "wing man", I just couldn't get trough, even when I had a tiny success I constantly self sabotaged me.

I had a few successes here and there, but even when a girl flirted with me I don't know I overanalyzed and so on.

I'm quite good looking according to most people, definetely above average so I think that got me girls primarily, I'm quite sure it played a big role, so i lost my virginity at 16, normal age. Got some girls here and theren, the average is actually very low for men and I guess it's even lower nowadays (pretty sure about it).

Online dating in the beginning was not super easy but boy did that change once I got used to it, I'm not going to reveal my number lays , I'm not here to boast, just sharing my story.

I would say "Just go for it!", it's not taboo anymore, yes dating is commercial now, it is what it is but if you're attractive it can definitely help alooooot.....

Besides you're only 18, this is an age where you can and have to experiment (personally I think that for a man experience is definetely an investment in yourself).

Maybe it's toxic, but it isn't the worse toxicity on the planet , yes I got addicted to online dating at some point but it's not like i'm going to cry about that when i get old , lol.

I would say go for it, play the game, yes it is superficial, yada yada yada but you have to laid dude...

And you can find love there too, obviously there's a bit of luck, timing persistance involved into this but at the end you just meet with people that are what you're looking for eventually, you'll have to experiment a bit with it and so on.

Also I wanted to add, don't listen too much what others think about it, sometimes there's even an unconscious (or conscious) reason that they will give you that isn't beneficial to you in the end.

As you probably know, women are more complicated than men for many reasons (biology), it's not because we have the pill and so on that that core behaviour doesn't change and female intelligence can be very confusing for men because they often advice things that they will later complait about in men.

I hope I don't offend anybody by saying that, I absolutely love women and they have an intuition that we men could not even imagine....

I was in the same situation at 18 and Tinder definitely changed the game for me, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. If you can optimize your profile and get good at texting, you can start going on a lot of dates and building some experience and confidence

Middle aged guy here. Are you in high school or college? When you're young social circle is huge. I would try to make friends at school and work. Then also make sure you're lean, 15% bodyfat (or less), make sure you've put on a little muscle from lifting weights, and wear clothes that show off your physique. You want to wear t-shirts (or shirts in general) where women can tell that you look good naked. If you're shirts are too baggy they won't be able to tell.

As a grown men, I would like to advise my younger self to stop putting girls at the center of your life, focus on yourself, hit the gym, learn how to box, do sports, go to university, grow as a professional, do business, and take care of yourself.. all the right pieces will fall by themselves in your life when you’re in the right place
