How much likes is normal to get on dating apps?

I'm sure the guys here can provide more insight on the numbers. I just want to add one often overlooked point:

Don’t post bad photos of yourself. Many of my guy friends who are actually attractive in real life, had no idea how unflattering their pictures were.

Angles, good lighting, no blurry selfies or accidental double chins etc. It's surprising how many of these slip through and end up being the 1st impression a woman gets on a dating app.

I notice I get a boost of likes when I first make a profile, then it plummets to basically zero after a few days.

Tinder is just complete garbage now, filled with girls promoting their Instagram. They all look the same too with the same poses and items, it's kinda funny.

FB dating is okay-ish but I suspect it stops showing my profile really fast just because of the wild disparity in likes I get when I start the account vs a week or so later.

Issue is, I'm not super photogenic most of the time. I'm told I'm handsome by women IRL but I just look semi ugly on photos. It's a weird thing. So even if I throw in a photo in a social setting or me doing something I enjoy, I just look like a troll so the picture is worthless. Dating apps are fun /s

I went for 7 years without ever getting a like so I would say that one like in two days is really good.

Hard to say what is "normal".

Last year I convinced my most objectively handsome tall friend to hop on the apps so I can hawk his stats. He got somewhere between 5 and 10 likes a month and even fewer messages and/or responses. He does fine in real life so didn't bother with the damaged goods that did reach out to him.

Before 2012 I had consistent likes and matches to the point I lost count, several flings and a couple ltrs. I ain't no Chad, men in general were getting better results 13+ years ago.

I completely quit apps after 2012, the dropoff in likes and matches was instant and drastic, and most other guys were in the same boat.

from what I see, the pandemic really ruined it even worse for the men that were still active on the apps because social media replaced real life for most women, even for the women who weren't sucked in prior to that point.

It's all about the body image complexes that social media created and it was intentionally engineered. Men don't think they are good enough and women think they are better than they actually are. Don't put energy and effort into the apps, I want to say even handsome dudes are normally only getting single digit likes every week.

Pretty low for guys. The majority of the women are aiming for the top guys (top as in people who get the most likes, not better)

No. Just for being “new here” you are being shown at the front of peoples stacks so you should be getting a lot more than 1 like in 2 days. On average you’d maybe get 5 a day but with the “new here” you should expect 10+ a day. But seeing who accepts your likes will tell you a lot too

I get very few good matches in the US, but get some okay ones in Colombia and Brazil.

For me, in person is way, way better.

Normal? For the average guy in a small city, probably like 1 a week. In a big city, maybe 1 a day if he's lucky.

Depends on a couple things, big city vs small town, general attractiveness, good or bad pictures, im sitting on zero likes a week, every week, even though my female friends tell me im definitely handsome enough to get plenty of likes..

That being said, apps have gone way downhill the last couple years.

And i lowkey also believe, once youve paid for premium on the apps, and later stopped that subscription, your profile might get shadowbanned or something, because i do have 2 platonic female friends that are on tinder, and they both that said theyve never even seen my profile on it, even tho we only live 30ish miles from eachother

There is no normal because the variance in quality profiles is huge. Trying to reduce it to a single expectation is futile.

This is near certain though:

Getting likes is not particularly common, and not the main source of matches

Most matches come from you giving a like and a girl matching you

The takeaway is do not sit around waiting for likes, they will barely come through

99% of my dates are from me sending the like with a funny message

Also, those 8 people you sent likes to are not opening the app every day, so its perfectly normal for someone to match your like a week or more later as they check the app periodically

If you must put a number on something, in my personal experience, I probably get 1-3 matches for every 10-15 likes I send out.

I have a good profile and send funny comments, this is key

I highly recommend not simply sending a like with no message. You can and will get matches this way, but a lot less.

A lot of variables. Your profile for one, your location & age as well & how much & how you swipe

The algorithms are wacky to really give an average number but on bad weeks, I get 3 to 5. Most I’ve gotten on a good week is from 8 to 9.

TLDR; there is no set standard number & the variables make it too hard to answer for you. Just use the app & build your elo with thoughtful, consistent swiping

Met my wife on hinge and this just randomly hit my feed. I’d say I’m pretty good looking like 7.7/10 - I’d usually get 3-7 likes per day on hinge. Maybe 2 of those converted to dates or and 4 converted to getting a number.
