How expensive was your suit? As someone who wears formal clothes fairly regularly, I can say that there's nothing LESS impressive than a cheap, ill-fitting suit. I saw someone on Reddit on New Years Eve that posted a pic of himself wearing a suit with "I'm celebrating in style". He was not stylish at all.

If you can look like Neal Patrick Harris in a suit, you can wear one to formal or semi-formal events. Dinner at an expensive restaurant, or drinks at a very swank hotel bar, those are the kinds of situations that it will get you positive attention from the ladies. But you're not going to hit on girls wearing jeans while you are wearing a suit at a sports bar on a Friday night.

I want to restate this one more time: a cheap suit is a fucking ender. Women know fashion better than you and I do, and they can spot a cheap suit a mile away. Same thing if your pants are too long, or too baggy, or your suit jacket is just a little too big... it looks fucking trashy, and they will notice.

Plausible deny-ability (was just at a wedding) i would suggest doing it with a few others dressed up aswell. when if its just you and everyone else is casual. sure you get looks and the odd whistle, but if that turns into more, who knows.

The purpose of peacocking is to draw positive attention and give yourself props you can use to interact with girls. You don't want a suit if you end up "explain it away" to everyone you meet. A quick guide to peacokcing (with pictures is here and here)

Always overdress just a little bit. People you see will assume you've just come from somewhere more important, or are going somewhere more important after you leave them. Your difficulty is going to be picking the venue where a suit is only a shade overdressed and not total overkill.

I have to agree with the men at MFA. You are much better off showing a girl that you have enough social awareness to know the proper dress for the event rather than intentionally looking out of place in hope it will get a few more girls to talk to you.

If you are somewhere where the suit plays first and then go somewhere else after without getting changed, that's no big deal though.

Disagree with everyone around here saying not to wear suits. I've integrated suit game into my dating life and it's done wonders. Also good to bait an IOI (lots of compliments on my suit fit/pocket square).

The caveat is that you have to act like a guy in a well-tailored suit, very cool and charming. If you act like an insecure shy guy it obviously won't work.

If they ask why I'm wearing a suit, I'll say I just bought it and wanted to 'try it out', and tell them not to get a big head (in a playful way). I'm also a tall, skinny, fairly good looking guy so suits really work well. If you were out of shape and not too good in the face...then maybe not a great idea?

Surprised I have not seen this before. I occasionally wear a full suit out, not often though - it tends to beckon "what are you dressed up for?" However, I do wear a button up/tie every day to school, and a blazer over it along with dark jeans and light DVS shoes. Yep. And I typically get the "you look really nice/good/dapper". If I am questioned, I simply say I like to look nice and prefer the style. Attention and congruence with my own motives, even if I am one of 3 people wearing more than a t or button down shirt.

If you can wear it, go for it. 99% of the guys that want to pull it off can't because they a) don't know anything about suit fit/quality and b) continue to carry themselves about like immature nerds instead of someone who just realized he owns a partial share in the club/restaurant.

Disclosure: The only time I'm not wearing at least a blazer is when I'm sleeping or dancing.

I often go to college house parties with a wing dark jeans with a button up shirt and a tie. Usually sleeves rolled up and top button undone. I get a lot of looks, but it instantly draws attention to me and allows me to own the room. I like to think of it as a visual opener with everyone there. I always have a good night when I dress up like that whether I close or not.

I still go out in suits almost all the time....

Here is what I have noticed:

Wearing a suit is to make you look different, so find suits that are different color than the standard, black. If you gonna go black. Do it in your style. Mine is Black suit, black shirt, black shoes, and gold accents(gold cufflinks and pocketsquare)

Its all about colors, shirt color etc.

Know how to wear a suit: suit etiquette, etc. Dont look like an idiot wearing a suit. Goes without saying that wearing a suit that doesnt fit is pointless.

Its all in the accessories, pocket squares, cuff-links, shoes, belt. Tie-Clip. Keep balance, Don't overdo it: If you have a striped suit don't wear a striped shirt. I have done it and many girls tells me it is just overwhelming.

Make sure the shirt is pressed. If you going to do a bit more hipster like suit look ( out shirt, sneakers and suit for example ) make sure u have a fashion sens.

I think dressing one level above is good, but going too far makes you look like a retard. Like wearing a suit to a baseball game. Sure you'll stand out, but people will be like wtf.

Every Friday my buddies and I dress up for "Fancy Friday". We have had fantastic results. I think dressing up as a group has a better effect than if I were to go out alone in a casual suit.

Instead of a suit, try a simple vest over a nice button-down shirt. If you're in decent shape it has the same visual effect for a man as a corset has on a woman: it emphasizes how narrow your waste is in comparison to your chest and shoulders. It looks classy but never too dressy. You go to any formal setting and you won't be turned away at the door, but you won't look like a lonely businessman stopping at the bar on the way home from work.

Do what you want, fuck what people online say, and test it yourself.

You go out in a suit and people respond positively, then sweet. If not, don't do it or tweak it a bit.
