Attorney here but not a divorce attorney. However, as long as the prenup meets the basic legal requirements: in writing, signed by both parties voluntarily, free from duress or fraud and the party seeking it must have made a complete honest disclosure of assets and income (this is the one that trips guys up). Most states also require that it be notarized. Courts will look at whether it’s reasonable. If it is unreasonable unfair, it may not be upheld.

But you should be good. Doesn’t mean that you won’t spend a boatload in legal fees litigating the issue with your fucking crazy ex though.

It's really interesting how that particular sentiment seems to fall along gender lines. It most places you get downvoted and subject to attacks for saying so, but it's true. Our family law system is out of sync with the times, and culturally we're still telling women they get best of both worlds (who wouldn't want that, until you see the price tag), which makes it that much more difficult for everyone.

Marriage is a lie and is nothing more than a legal contract that women use to take advantage of men. It's really simple fellas. Do not get married. Im sorry and it's a shame you have to go through this. Many of us men have or are being financially ABUSED by woman.

With the marriage being this short she is probably not entitled to much/any of your separate assets. She would be very wise to take the $50K and run like hell. Prenups are enforceable if done right.

Same sentiment here. There is no upside for men to marry. With the current divorce rate, getting married is like playing Russian Roulette with only three of the chambers empty.

Make sure she also had separate counsel when entering a prenup and all assets are disclosed. Also, put an arbitration clause in the prenup. Much quicker and easier to enforce. So if they challenge it, it is a quick and separate arbitration proceeding to determine if pre-nup is valid.

There are plenty who married again and failed - at least learn the lesson for next time even if it cost you 11 years and 50k of your life.
