I have a female coworker that constantly approaches the men in the office to do odd jobs for her. Water cooler is out, please refill it for me. Can’t reach this stack of stuff, get it down. This box is too heavy, move it for me, etc. Now I don’t mind helping out a coworker regardless of gender, but this woman has an unbelievable attitude, and it finally got to me. On this particular day her usual simps were out of the office and it was me, her, and 3 other women.

Me= Me OB (office bitch) = her

OB: “ lindomano, a client dropped off a box for me at reception, can you get it for me?” Me: “Can’t you get it yourself?” OB: “It’s way too heavy, I’m just a small woman.” Me: “Well I’m busy at the moment.” OB: “But I need right now.” Me: “I’m sure Melissa or Sally could help you.” OB: “You’re a man, it’s easy for you.” Me: “Two of you could probably do it.” [At this point I’m staring at the screen and trying to focus on something. OB: “Look, why do you have to be so difficult? Allan and Joe always help me out.” Me: (holding back retort about them being simps) “I cannot help you at the moment. Please give me some space and let me do my job.”

She left in a huff and later my (female) manager pulled me aside and said OB complained I was being aggressive and unhelpful. I explain my side of the story and my manager goes: “Why didn’t you help her? You’re a guy.”

I’d been waiting for a moment like that for a long time, being a longtime reader of this sub.

I say, “What does gender have to do with this situation? There were several other coworkers she could have asked. Why assume just because I’m a male I’m most capable of lifting something heavy?”

She couldn’t say anything to that. She told OB to stop bothering me and in the future to ask facility management to help her carry heavy things
