Anyone notice that neurodivergent men, ESPECIALLY autistic men, face some of the worst difficulties in this world?

Being an autistic man can be some of the hardest difficulties a man could face. The statistics on autistic people is insane. According to the statistics I've read, autistic people have an exceptionally high unemployment rate, even higher than people with ADHD. Many, if not most, are unemployed. In fact, autists have some of the lowest employment rates or postsecondary education rates of all disabilities/disorders. Autistic women were more employed and more likely to be in college than autistic men, and autistic men were somewhat more likely to be NEET. Many employers won't hire autistic people, and even if you don't tell them you're autistic, they'll still perceive you as abnormal and won't hire you. Another study (although it is a sampling bias and the autistic participants was typically in their late 30s/early 40s, an often undiagnosed and older age group) also found that autistic women were more likely than autistic men to have a bachelor's (54% of autistic women and 46.8% of autistic men). They didn't find a difference in employment rates or being in both education and employment, but when asked why they're unemployed (if they were), 34.4% of autistic women did not want to work at present compared to 13.9% of autistic men, whereas 30.6% of autistic men compared to 19.1% of autistic women said they wanted to find a job but could not. This means autistic women might not want to be employed right now but autistic men often do but lack opportunity.

Homelessness

Autistic people also had a high homelessness rate, and most homeless people are men. Most autistic people who get put in mainstream classes in school get bullied, too.

Crime

90.38% of autistic people under 21 who are murdered are males, with almost two-thirds of offenders being parents. This isn't simply because 4 boys are diagnosed for 1 girl, given that would mean 20% of children diagnosed with autism are girls compared just 10% of autistic murder victims under 21. 47% of the offenders said it was due to overwhelming stress of caring for an autistic child, and given that autistic girls are better at masking, it could be they're more likely to be stressed by taking care of an autistic boy.

Autistic people are not more likely to be victims of crime, but they are disproprtionately incarcerated due to being sentenced harshly and being at an increased likelihood of being confronted by police due to police misinterpreting autistic behavior and being more likely to be arrested due to police not knowing how to understand autists. One study showed that autistic men were 1.9x more likely than autistic women to be questioned, arrested or charged by police but autistic women were 32% more likely than autistic men to be crime victims, but autistic people in general are victimized by criminals more.

Statisticsshow that autistic women are more likely to be victims of stalking/harassment, sexual violence or sexual harassment, but many autistic men were victims of it, too. Also, although many autistic women were victims of physical violence, autistic men were more likely to be victims of physical violence.

Social

Autistic men have it a lot worse socially than autistic women, and they are less likely to be able to mask. A study found that autistic men are far less likely to have experienced their first kiss, to have had sex before, or to have been in a relationship compared to neurotypical people, but this wasn't found to be particularly true for autistic women. Another study found that most autistic men had a strong desire for sexual intercourse, but 44.6% never had sex, and the ones who did only had sex less than once a month compared to the neurotypical men having regular sex. 50% of the autistic women never had sex, and most who did had sex less than once a month compared to regular sex among neurotypical women. Nonetheless, 42.5% of the autistic women never desired sex. Only 30% of autistic women desired sex at least once a week compared to 85.7% of autistic men.

Multiple studies have consistently found that regardless of age, both male and female participants stigmatize autistic men more than autistic women, even when controlling for masking (it's not because autistic women mask more). They perceived autistic men as much less likeable, much more awkward and much less worth hanging out with and talking to compared to autistic women, but they only stigmatized autistic women slightly more than neurotypical men and were slightly less willing to hang out with autistic women than hang out with neurotypical men. Nonetheless, they perceived neurotypical women as the most likeable, least awkward and most worth hanging out with and worth talking to by a long shot. Autistic women were perceived more favorably even when controlling for masking, and they concluded it could be being a woman makes them less socially stigmatized rather than masking. Masking doesn't create the gap. It might exacerbate it, but it doesn't create it to begin with. When controlling for masking, there was still a big gap.

The Internet targets autistic people

I noticed that cringe culture disproportionately targets autistic people, especially autistic men. Even when specific, individual people are targeted by the Internet, it's disproportionately an autistic man. I mean just look at Chris Chan and Joseph8276. Yeah, people will argue they both were bad, but if they were neurotypical, they wouldn't have been targeted NEARLY as much as they already were. Besides, Chan was originally only targeted for a drawing he made, not for immoral behavior (which didn't happen until later and possibly as a subconscious result of cyberbullying). I even remember when LeafyisHere was popular and he made a video ridiculing a man who turned out to be autistic, and his fans bullied the man to the point where he had a breakdown on video.

In fact, go on subreddits that engage in cringe culture, and they ridicule men who have obvious autism traits, and even r/fakedisordercringe will accuse people randomly of faking autism but some of the people they accuse of faking a disorder weren't even faking it. Even on subs like r/AmITheAsshole or r/offmychest, you have so many posts about some autistic man with many upvotes. Many times when I even hear people online talk about some person they dealt with who they thought was "weird" or "creepy", they describe behaviors characteristic of autism. Even r/AutismInWomen had multiple threads I've seen where women there talk about how they hate autistic men and view them as predatory and rape-y. People on the Internet often target autistic men.

Masking

If you look up about it, autistic women mask far more than autistic men, and have better social skills, which is why they get jobs and an education more, have better social lives, and can find a relationship more, but even when controlling for masking, autistic women were not as socially stigmatized and people were still more willing to be friends with them (as mentioned earlier). Most high-functioning autistic men cannot mask and you can easily tell they're autistic. The problem is, there's high-functioning autists who aren't necessarily the most high-functioning, but they're extremely good at masking, have virtually neurotypical social skills, maintain good conversations, and who only are seen as quirky at worst by society. These kinds of autists are overrepresented in studies/surveys on autistic people (for example, I remember reading that most autists in surveys report masking, but if you meet autistic men in real life, most clearly cannot mask), they're overrepresented on subs like r/autism and other autism forums, they're usually the autists who promote autism on social media, and they're the only autists who ever have a decent social life or have relationship/sexual experiences. These kinds of autists comprise a lot of autistic women, but a minority of autistic men.

The thing is, as an autistic man, it annoys me how people look at these autistic people and think that autism cannot make life harder or condemn you to social isolation because of what these autists are like.

TLDR

It's awful what it's like for neurodivergent men, especially autistic men. Men are expected to live independently, have sex and a girlfriend, be rich, have a good job, etc., and most autistic men cannot fulfill these expectations. Many still live with their parents, are virgins/relationship virgins at an older age, struggle to get jobs or make money, have arrested development, and lack a social life.
