Definitionally you cannot have another “first.”

Also I think there is nothing special about a first love. My first serious bf ever cheated on me when we were away at different universities. It cannot be that special if that’s what happened.

And I don’t think there is a “one” either. There are 8 billion people on this Earth; 340 million and some change alone in the United States. There are likely a multitude of people that we might be strongly compatible with, but it depends on who you meet first.

you can never find "First" anything again, you can easily find love again and "first" is not always some comic book anime fairytale, its usually a drama filled horrorshow

First is no more special than any other love, it tends to be pretty unimportant as it’s normally not long lasting

Because I agree - MOST people don’t stay with the first person they ever dated. They also don’t stay with the first person they have sex with. So obviously being someone’s “first” doesn’t magically create a psychic bond between you that makes you like each other as people.

The relationships that last the longest are ones where both people have the best compatibility with each other.

And sometimes, it takes a few relationships to figure out who you are and aren’t compatible with.

“Failed” relationships are not a waste of time. They’re how you learn what works and what doesn’t.

It’s only called first love because it’s the first time you have that romantic feeling for another person. Of course it comes n goes throughout our life.

There isn’t somebody out there for everybody though. So some of will never have a first love because that love never existed for us.

First love is not necessarily best love

There’s nothing inherently special about a “first love”. Most people improve with time as they do things. The first time more often than not is not going to be one’s best work, so people probably shouldn’t be so attached to the concept of it.

First love and true love aren’t the same thing. And often, when someone experiences that deeper really meaningful relationship that’s true love (some even call it “the one”) then first loves seem almost naive. It’s not that it isn’t super intense, especially since it’s the first time those feelings hit you and it’s overwhelming! But when you look back thru the lens of True love, it often seems quaint.

I believe there are three big 'firsts'.

First love which is being in love with the idea of a boyfriend/girlfriend. You're in love with the concept of love, not the person. This normally happens as a teenager or young adult. It's like 'oh wow, I love kissing and sex and having someone tell me how awesome I am'.

Loving someone for the first time. You enjoy their company and care about them deeply.

Being in love for the first time. Like the top but it's a very deep connection with the person. You can sit on a park bench and talk to them for hours. You can often communicate with them non verbally, sex feels like it's on a spiritual level and they're the closes tpeoppe to you (bar your own children).

‘First love’ is usually meaningless in the grand scheme of things and is more about nostalgia than anything else. Mostly it’s not even about the person directly, but it’s about this new fresh experience of it all. Like most times people don’t want anything to do with their first loves, and it’s merely just reminiscing over a simpler, less complicated time. Missing it or feeling nostalgic about it doesn’t mean wanting it back

Most people lose their first love, its a normal human experience - and yet, many people (who often have had multiple loves) end up falling in love again anyway

Don't know if this answers the OP question, but ..... Widower here after 33 years happily married and dating a widow who was happily married for 30 years.

We are totally "in love" - like a couple of teenagers (and get it on most nights to boot! ;)

Naah I hate my first gf. She cheated on me with a freind of mine just cause he was taller and good looking even though I was much better than him in literally everything else .

I have great memories of my first relationship. She chose to be with me even though her friends said she could do better. At the time, I didn’t realize how rare it is to find someone like that, someone who sees you for who you are and stays anyway.

But I was the one who ended things. Over time, I started to believe what her friends had said, that she could do better. I’m not sure why I let those thoughts get to me, even after knowing that one of her friend started liking me.
