From a logical point of view, having kids is always a bad choice. People have kids anyway because of their feeeeelz. If those feels didn't over-ride logic, we wouldn't be here.

I never understood the legacy thing. A legacy of what? Wage slavery? Lame mediocrity? Less than desirable genetics? If you were a baby and you could pick any set of parents in the whole world to be born to, would you honestly choose yourself and your mate? Out of everyone, you're the best choice? Really? And they say breeding isn't selfish.

Children are the right choice for most people. They would have been the perfect choice for me, had I had the privilege of having married the right woman. I can't possibly think of anything possibly more fulfilling than having kids you can raise with the right values, and feel the joy of the look of wonder in their eyes as you teach them.

However, this is an age devoid of right women, and hence children are an impossibility.

For almost anyone. If you have mental issues and can't even deal with your own self, then probably not.

Having a child is fulfilling to most people. Sure, it costs money, but it provides an emotional component that is second to none - and in most situations, it is the best investment for the person.

Men, however, have to be extra careful, because the law will give their children to the mother the majority of the time, and you'll end up sans fulfillment with a ton of child support payments, supporting the bitch's happiness(and the kid).

Woman with 2 kids here. The benefit for me is certainly not "get money." I work part time now, definitely not financially better off. I was a single mum for a while, my ex did pay towards his own child but he was still better off financially than when we were together, and a hell of a lot better off than I was.

You forgot all the happiness. That's the benefit for both genders. Blissful happiness, contentment and love. Considering a third.

It's only a bad choice if you can't take care of the child. Having one isn't about the parents, all arguments for or against it from the parents point of view are irrelevant.

If all you're really asking is social benefits, you got everything, but you seriously undermine the "fulfills societal norm of reproducing". People have much more respect for you in general and you have more common ground with other adults. Not having a kid when you're 40 (as a guy) is almost like being a virgin when you're 20.

35/f. I knew since I was 6 that I never wanted kids. Decades later, I'm extremely happy with the decision.

I do exactly what I want. I have an amazing career and make great money. I powerlift and eat sushi with my boyfriend. I live in a fantastic city.

Kids are poopy, smelly, loud money drains. Fuck no.

People don't have kids so they can be better off financially or achieve a higher SMV, so really it matters what you want and what you value. Having kids is not a cost/benefit risk analysis for most people.

"Legacy" is less about "I WILL BE IMMORTAL! THE WORLD HAS A PIECE OF ME TO KEEP!" and more about spending your twilight years invested in the future, beyond yourself, rather than just acutely aware of your mortality.

I didn't really understand the value of children and family until my mother was diagnosed with (terminal) leukemia. Contrasting her experience with those of the people who were in the hospital during her first round of chemo, who had no family visiting or taking care of them was very sobering.

Children are the right choice when you have assets you need to protect. The problem is that most people who reproduce cannot afford to take care of them financially, emotionally, and socially plus they do not have anything worth saving. They think this is fun and games and it really isn't.

I just heard a young woman in target (probably 19, looked college aged) profess to her similar aged friends that she couldn't wait to be a nurse so she could just be a mother. She then asked them "don't you feel that you were just brought here to be a mother"

Well, those who measure their self-worth through their children, I'm not sure they should be parents.

And don't you think that being a single dad has a lowered value for men? What do you think, I want to be a stepmom to a little shithead? No thanks.

Second even from a purely egotistically stand point you are saying that you are willing to never experience a huge part of life which is adulthood and family life? Its like playing only one faction in a video game. Are you really willing to delete the game never knowing how it was to play the other 90 percent? Besides the bachelor life gets boring.

These days there's barely even a societal norm with regards to having kids anymore, I don't think people would really think less of you for choosing to stay childless. Personally they seem like an enormous burden/hassle and I can't understand why anyone would want that trouble, but I understand that some folks enjoy raising children, so for them I guess it's worth it for the sense of personal fulfillment. For anyone else yea it seems a terrible idea.

In our current society? There's so many issues surrounding them and problems associated with the child which aren't directly the childs fault but more due to various laws, restrictions, general trends and such which make them a huge risk and thus many people opt out. It's part of the reason why our fertility rates are so abysmal.

In an actual functioning society which wouldn't be coming down around us crashing and burning? Yes. Having children would be the right choice and one the vast mayority picks.

I very much wanted kids. It used to be my dream. I read everything I could about it. But nobody was writing books about how women now own the children and fatherhood has been replaced with child support alone. I wasn't prepared for a woman to tell me that she doesn't care about our child and coldly use his pain and suffering as a weapon.

I would still like to have my own kids. But men don't have kids anymore. Which isn't so bad once you've adjusted. The deliberate removal of fatherhood by feminists means that they have removed all my responsibility as well.

You know, people are always telling me that kids are so fulfilling, that they would do it 8 billion times over If they could, and that it literally gave meaning to their lIves. It seems empty to me, like people have kids because they can't outsmart their own mediocrity and then put all types of titles to it to make it seem like a bigger accomplishment than what it actually is.

That's not a legacy, you didn't accomplish anything. You aren't passing anything worthwhile on to your children besides your sub par genes. You will die along with your children's children ad infinitum because life is basically meaningless.
