Drawbacks for men:

-might have to pay child support if he and the mother break up.

-kid might not be his yet he is raising it/paying for it anyway.

Drawbacks for women:

-ends up a single mother if she and the father break up, and so have lowered value.

-has to do most of the child care (usually), might have to put career on hold to raise child (if she didn't want to, if that's what she wants then it's not a drawback).

Drawbacks for both:

-expensive to raise a child to 18, excluding cost of college -emotionally and physically draining

Good points for men:

-gets a legacy.

Good points for women:

-can get money from father or government.

Good points for both:

-fulfills societal norm of reproducing.

Personally, the good points don't outweigh the drawbacks in my opinion. What do you think?
