There's a lot of data on the growing economic inequality - a growing percentage of the income, and more severely the wealth accruing with a small, almost entirely hereditary elite, lower social mobility - and a growing percentage of the overall population (mostly younger and middle-aged women - male employment is actually slightly lower than it used to be) working, often for a wage that barely allows paying the bill and maybe some luxuries or a very slow build towards retirement. Often times people get stuck in "entry level" positions for longer and longer times, to a higher age, never reaching prosperity and/or security.

This impacts the sexual marketplace in a very profound manner - the classical family with a sole or at least main male breadwinner (wife working part time at the most) becomes less and less common partially because there are ever fewer men sufficiently stable by their mid-twenties - and even many of the women who would want that entire kept woman life either can't find a suitable mate or have to go for someone significantly older (we're talking F early twenties with M early thirties, or sometimes more extreme). Besides that, many women actually choose to be independent and go for full-time employment + higher education.

In this manner the economic inequality has also exacerbated the already increasing inequality in the sexual market place. Sexually liberated women (with less social strictures, arranged marriages or pressure to pair off young and stay in committed relationships) value sexual attractiveness (basically alpha traits - conqueror/seducer archetype) higher than suitability as a provider (high beta traits - provider/protector archetype). On top of that, the ability to be a good provider becomes harder and harder to obtain for average or below-average men.

Meanwhile, the removed stigma for casual sex as well as what amounts to pro-sex messages have lowered men's estimation of the value of sex, and in fact created an expectation for more readily available or casual sex. Women having similar economic prospects also delays or reduces the necessity to provide resources for access to sex.

The end result of this is not particularly good for most women, in the long term:

- Committed relationships to high-value men are harder to come by, and for the most part only available to women with high RMV who are in the right social groups

- An increasing percentage of women of mid-range SMV and RMV spend their late teens and twenties (thus the time of their highest SMV and RMV) as career women supporting themselves while having casual relationships and mostly economically supporting themselves (note that this also means that their labour is used/exploited economically on a far larger scale)

- The increased welfare state also creates an underclass (mostly low or at best medium range RMV) that while living unpleasant lives are relatively safe. Bad employment prospects mean they couldn't improve their lot economically by much even if they turn around later in life, but the way the welfare state is laid out they are provided for unless they fuck up too badly

All of this creates, in essence, a large middle and lower class of women who have difficulty fulfilling their long-term goal.

Meanwhile on the male side, the situation is this:

- Men who are naturally attractive or moderately attractive and invested a lot of effort into looks, status and game can basically pull a lot of casual or low-commitment sex (your typical AF guy) from what is essentially a self-supporting or society-supported free-range harem.

- Men who belong to the economic upper class out-earn the normal man by a massive margin (partially by their increased profits from the labour of young men and career women), and can basically buy a lot of things on the sexual market desirable to men (depending their temperament) from "gold diggers": Prostitutes, trophy wives, top models or virgins

- a growing subset of medium or lower men are fighting over the scraps while having an increasingly hard time economically

Women who go for either the Alpha fucks guys or gold digging without obtaining commitment (becoming a trophy wife might not be a bad outcome for some) either took a gamble that didn't pay off (trying to net a guy too far above them and failing or being strung along) or enjoyed a better life in the short term at the expense of losing some of their RMV.

In previous decades (90s and 2000s), these women usually evaded the worst of the crunch by settling down with an average man after a few wild years or failed attempts at netting a better man. The guy they settled for basically got 80 cents on the Dollar for his effort, but got enough of what he wanted to be happy.

Nowadays though...the beta guy has a harder time even coming up with those dollars, and growing economic and sexual inequality means that those short-term options become more and more attractive to women, further lowering the RMV of the women who then "graduate" to a more long-term strategy.

The end result, which we are witnessing right now, are counter-strategies employed by more and more of the lower 80% of men:

- Partially or fully withdrawing from the sexual marketplace because they perceive it as no longer worth it (MGTOW)

- Adapting a more short-term strategy to obtain sex (by deception or by prioritizing work on their attractiveness and game over working on a career)

Which to me explains the current deteriorating state of affairs, which basically hurts most women and nearly all men, mainly as a result of a multi-front attack on the economic, social and sexual middle class. CMV
