Why do female feminists treat their male supporters with such toxicity?

It's like all abusive relationships. The perpetrator likes the feeling of power out of abusing their victim and/or they have pent up rage/hate inside them that they want to express.

These victims are an ideal outlet for this ~~hate/rage~~ abuse, as they aren't going to fight back or leave. Often the victims response to increased abuse is to try to placate the perpetrator to a larger degree. It's really a self fueling engine.

Most feminism is rooted an idea called patriarchy theory, which states that women are actively oppressed and prevented from achieving their potential by all men.

To someone who believes this, a man could at best be a defector who is well intentioned but who used to commit horrible crimes, but could never be fully trusted.

It follows the same ideology of SRS and the like. It's not harassment or assault or sexism if the other party has more "privilege."

I've talked extensively with feminists who think they are completely justified bashing male feminists. Everything those guys do is apparently wrong. They are not allowed to have an opinion about feminism. And if they do or if they try advocating anything, they aren't a "real feminist."

In most feminist's eyes, the perfect male feminist is a complacent doormat that doesn't get in anyone's way. Who also acts as a punching back for their female counterparts' frustrations at the patriarchy. It's sad though. Men who go out of their way to support an ideology that definitely does not have their best interests in mind are treated so poorly by the very people they support.

Feminism is based largely on fear and distrust of men. That is pretty heavily ingrained in their beliefs. As such men can never really be welcomed. Even the self hating ones that parrot feminist lines back to their masters sheepishly and without even a hint of an individual personality are still men so still distrusted. Hence the need for women only safe spaces at feminist events to keep out even these sad people.

Because according to the theory men oppress women and if men support feminists they disconfirm that theory. To resolve the dissonance, it is posed that deep down all men are violent oppressors, but that higher up some men have overcome themselves. These men are allowed admittance to the movement but are regarded with suspicion and cautioned to guard themselves against their deep down intrinsic oppressiveness.

Contrariwise, women who support the MRM are welcomed precisely because they disconfirm the theory. They cannot be so easily dismissed as just self-interested.

I wouldn't suggest Tumblr In Action as representative of feminism. I lurk on Tumblr a lot, and either I've been lucky enough not to run into the crazy or there is less crazy than people seem to imply.

That being said, the more over-the-top feminists blame men for everything (patriarchy something something). Everyone else around them backs away slowly.

This is one of the reasons why feminism doesn't get too far in achieving actual equality (is female btw lol). I think the reason is that there are a lot of misunderstandings going on between the genders, women feel like they are less important for several different reasons and so feminists they want to empower women instead of actually allowing people to act more aware about any social issues. Also they probably just enjoy it and take it as a sort of revenge or re-domination :/ (or maybe that's just my thinking that people enjoy power).

I think it relates to several things, but one which hasn't been touched on much is the fact that they can get away with it. Considering the level of problems faced by men in society, for a man in the western world to then identify with a group that ignores those problems and focuses on the other gender which is largely the creation of false issues, and about issues with no real solution, (excluding a 1984 type society)... It requires a degree of masochism that enjoys self hate.

Because they see males as "sinners" and criminals, and male supporters are nothing more than criminals with enough morality to say "I was wrong, I'm sorry". They see men the same way you would see a convicted rapist who claims to be all better now - you can never really trust them.

These people are insane. It is not worth your time to think about why they do their crazy things. It's like asking why other mentally unbalanced people think aliens are going to abduct them.

There's a simple truth that encompasses all activists who try to promote change by shaming, "call-out" tactics, and general abuse.

It's only effective on people who care.

I expect most of what a social justice warrior encounters, when confronted with their particular brand of batshittery, is a resounding "Meh" or "Please get out of my way, I need to catch a train" or "Whatever lady, double your medication". Nothing of what they say penetrates, because they lack the ability to communicate in an effective way and so alienate their targets.

But allies, supporters, friends, orbiters, whatever you want to call them... they're close, they'll listen, and they'll be affected. They can pour their hate and malice and loathing into these hapless schlubs and actually see themselves changing something. Of course, none of that change is for the better -- all they're doing is either further destroying an already fragile ego, or feeding into masochism. Of the ones who stick around, that is; anyone with self-respect bails on the lot of 'em the moment the abuse gets too much. Proof of their "closet (race|sex|whatever)ism" and post-facto justification for the abuse as a tool to root out bad people.
