I've been a part of this subreddit for a while now, and these points are definitely not espoused here. They were likely written by someone who hates the Men's Rights movement and wants to make it look bad.

You've gotta understand that if our opponents can characterize us as a) traditionalist conservatives, or b) immature, irrational sexists, then that gets them out of having to have the kinds of conversations that we want our culture to be having.

I see the views expressed in that picture as grossly offensive and irrational, I've never seen anything like that posted in earnest here in this subreddit, and if it ever were, I can't imagine that it would be given serious dialogue.

The only thing I would add however is that if something like this image were ever posted in earnest, it wouldn't be deleted or it's poster banned. We believe that the best way to respond to bad ideas is to dismantle them using better ideas. Some people choose to interpret this as a tacit endorsement of the bad ideas that don't get deleted.

Aerik is an emotionally damanged, self hating white knight.

He's an example of men who are simply beyond redemption and without hope.

David Futrelle is another good example of this kind of man.

You really gotta wonder what was done to them as children for them to turn out with such a raging hatred of theirselves and other men.

I very rarely see anything like this on /r/mensrights; and when I do, it's usually downvoted to oblivion.
I would like to say I don't know where the misconceptions come from, but I think I know. They come generally from two sources. First, those people who deliberately misrepresent what the MRM is about. They portray us as "trying to keep women down" or "whining about not being on top of the world", when what we are pointing out areas where men get a raw deal. The only way a person can get "you obviously hate women" from "wait a minute, men have problems too" is if that person has a preconceived notions about women being oppressed by men. Secondly, there are those who don't seem to understand the most basic logical argument. The read "here are some things people can do to protect themselves from sexual assault" and interpret it as "victim blaming." I think these people are more dangerous to our movement than the obvious ideologues, because they seem sincere. I have a couple of theories on why they can't seem to follow a reasoned argument, but that's neither here nor there; essentially they subconsciously want to believe what they are shouting, so presenting an argument which shows them to be wrong just pisses them off.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I have seen very, very little misogyny on this subreddit, and what is posted is usually straw men who are promptly downvoted into oblivion. If anyone would like to present examples of misogyny on this subreddit, please do. I acknowledge that the MHRM isn't perfect and I'd absolutely love to do my part in rectifying negative elements.

People say things. Radfem say things. Extremist MRAs say things. Sometimes depending on mood patterns, people accepts all these; sometimes not.

Overall, rationality prevails on this sub most of the time.

Sexists or not, it is like random thoughts of an individual. You can either ignore it or go on brooding over it.

That's pretty much the first time I've seen any of those arguments from anyone except Manhood Academy trolls and "you've never been forced to die in a war" is the only one that I don't find sexist. So you're right to not believe that /r/MensRights is responsible for comments like those.

When the other issues -- not being allowed to vote, being paid less, etc. -- come up in this sub, there are other opinions and arguments to explain why they occurred. Not such childish and sexist insults as "you're incapable of work so you get paid less" and "you lack logical reasoning skills to vote".

I think you know that the answer is no. We have a lot of people that want to vilify us, I wouldn't give them 2 seconds of thought, they aren't worth it.

It's talking points restated to look a certain way. Most of that stuff has been said in regards to the wage gap, gender parity in occupations, etc, etc. If, as Warren Farrell said (paraphrasing) women make different choices in occupation that lead to earning less money, are they "inferior" to men who earn more? Or are they "superior" in prioritizing their personal life over burning out on a job in order to get hard cash, because society likes Men with lots of money?

A person can spin that to say "You're saying that women lack ambition, you sexist pig! You want them back in the kitchen, giving birth to sandwiches! You monster!"

The whole list in that image is twisting even from a red pill perspective.

The thing that makes other communities look down on men's rights is your views on feminism. It's as simple as that.

I know you might not want to hear this but the harmful comments are things like things like "They [feminists] WANT men to be rapists"- that got 9 points comment on a front page post today- nine points isn't that many but saying something like that would get you downvoted to oblivion anywhere else.

This sub has a reputation of being an anti-feminist hatefest based on a weak straw man argument.

He is talking about subjects commonly brought up here, but without seeing the points he was obviously responding to, it's hard to comment without the proper context. It does come across as a weak rebuttal to GWW's Disposable Male imo.

TL;DR: Most of those accusations are completely wrong and outlandish, the only fair point was that women are rarely (if ever) forced to participate in war, and that men actually are responsible for many of the things you see around you (not just the bad ones), but that says nothing of any one individual man or woman.

In regards to the first picture I read the first line and thought well that is true to some extent. I suppose they meant that they have never been forced to "fight and die for their country" in a war since that would be a more exact and proper phrasing, but still.

Then I kept reading and realized it's pretty much bullshit, didn't ever read all of it but it reeks of hateful thoughts.

As to the thread you "screen shotted" there is one piece of truth there actually.

I admit that I rarely see that phrasing, but with hyperbole you could paraphrase things mentioned here into something like that yes. The truth is that men do the majority of dangerous (if someone would like to find a number to this feel free to chime in) and "disgusting" jobs. You have coal mining (the accident in turkey comes to mind) and coal is still a huge part of the worlds energy supply so it's kind of essential. You have garbage collecting and sewage working, which are both dangerous and disgusting jobs. You have oil rigs which are dangerous as hell, fishing (deadliest catch, nuff said), power line workers, construction workers, steel workers, firefighters, window cleaners (in skyscrapers etc), taxi drivers, farmers (handling toxic materials like bug repellent and often working alone with dangerous machines), and the list goes on and on. A vast majority of all these professions are held by men, and while I'm sure women could do a great job with all of this, if all men were to vanish tomorrow there would be a lot of things that wouldn't be tended to. This is probably the same for women too of course, but I think you get my point.

The same with pretty much all inventions that are made, they are made by men. This is not to say that men are better because of it, it's pointing out a fact that men do an awful lot to contribute to this society. Something that seems to go forgotten sometimes. Again this is not to say that women couldn't do these things as well, there are plenty of outstanding female scientists and inventors out there.

These things are mentioned from time to time in this sub, and they are technical and factual truths. They don't mean that any man is better than any woman because the most dangerous jobs and the most scientific discussions are both done by men. Making such an assumption from a statement like that is utterly fallacious. But it can begin to describe the group as a whole, in a generalized kind of way.

This is also something that most MRA's want to do away with, when it comes to science and discoveries there are plenty of us who realize that your gender has nothing to do with those things so most would only react to the novelty of having more prominent female scientists and inventors. But when it comes to the dangerous jobs, I think a lot of us would be glad to see the glass cellar open up actually. I do thing most of us would be even more glad if those jobs were made much safer though.

MR is an open platform and many of us come here to vent as well as participate in discussion. This is a place where we gather and bring light to the injustice towards men, naturally this will temporary color ones perception and raise the level of emotions. There are plenty of people that I have down voted only to up vote them on a later day.

I rarely see people here mention that people should be treated special because of their gender, I do see it mentioned that people should be treaded special because of what they do. This is a place where any argument can be challenged, no matter how reasonable and correct you think it is there is always someone to find a problem in it, or a different angle to a problem that you never saw. Much of these are bullshit and rather rude at times, but some are really well thought through and worth taking into account.

This got long, but now I'm done.
