it is in fact feminism that is the driving force of all the things the poster claims is the fault of the "patriarchy". The biggest failing of patriarchy theory is the reliance upon the Apex fallacy. The Apex fallacy is the idea that we assign the characteristics of the highest visibility members of a group (men, for example) to all members of that group whilst simultaneously ignoring the near complete lack of in- group bias from those same "apexuals" (tip of the hat to Typhonblue ) for the members of the group they belong to. The Apexual is in it for them and them alone but will benefit the group(s) from which they are able to garner the most power from as a side effect of attaining that power. In this case, by catering to the feminist lobby, which has an enormous amount of political influence. That said, it is from the mouths of feminists that the ideas of men being stupid, animalistic and incapable have sprung:

To then hold those same men accountable for their own social oppression in the name of "patriarchy" and hold forth the very cause of the problem as the solution is the height of dishonesty and frankly, cognitive dissonance.

Where can I get the instruction booklet for patriarchy? This poster is full of helpful information. Why didn't I get instructed in it? I'm over 30, and this is the first time I've been told I "can only experience the world in certain narrow ways".

This is a well-known pattern in abusive relationships. Create something to be afraid of. Scare / abuse the victim. Isolate the victim. Ensure that the only "protection" comes from the abuser.

Then escalate the abuse.

I don't think the right message is being received here. I could be wrong, but it seems like this isn't supposed to be a put down for men, if anything it's supposed to be inspirational to men. It says all these stereotypes and stigmas, and says that with feminism, we're all equal and there aren't any of these stupid stigmas.

In the system of one sex being superior to another sex, there are many flaws.

No one's saying "you're dirt" the author is saying "you're made to seem like dirt, and you're not."

It's not really blaming men directly. Patriarchy theory doesn't say that only men helped form it, women contributed to it and enforce gender roles. Even if men did mostly form patriarchy, obviously not every man is helping to keep it in power. In some ways I do believe in patriarchy, because it isn't beneficial to men at all anymore. From what I've read it's really just the idea that men were forced to take care of and protect women and rose to power by default, and now we're stuck with the burden of outdated beliefs. The world makes a lot more sense when you assume it was built on patriarchy honestly. I don't blame men for it though. I don't think anyone is really to blame. It seems like a similar pattern happened everywhere, it just seems like a part of our evolution. We're constantly changing though, and eventually we're going to move closer to true equality as manual labor is less necessary and self defense is much simpler.

Because misandry is ingrained and institutionalized, in the form of academic feminism and Women's/Gender studies, which do their best to demonize and vilify men as violent and vicious oppressors, with no regard to men's issues, or the fact that men are significantly worse off on most metrics of happiness and wellbeing. (I.e. Suicide rates, homelessness rates, literacy rates, high school completion rates, college attendance/graduation rates, workplace safety, lifespan, etc.)

I hate the term patriarchy. I'm fine with admitting that most men hold the powerful positions in government and in most corporations. But, a lot of people seem to use it to describe every negative stereotype ever conceived. There's a good discussion goin on over there on this topic.

Its tempting to advocate the idea of matriarchy, but then I'd be blaming my problems on other people. Then I'd be focusing more about bashing people than actually fighting for human rights. There used to be a decent argument behind that, like men in power wanting men keeping their old gender roles. But it's just an absurd dismissal at this point. Patriarchy is claimed whenever either men or women are disadvantaged, and it's become synonymous with female oppression and male empowerment.

They could have used it for the OP, if they hadn't already used it to attack every man in the world.

The poster is a lie. Somewhere in the archives on my website I have a 1970s quote of Gloria Steinem saying that feminism was about equality for men, too. Followed by a 1990s quote of Gloria Steinem saying that feminism was only about women. The feminist fog will is worse than a crooked politician.
