Went to a wedding, nice couple, late 20s. The Reverend was a women who used the ceremony to 'roast' the man. The bride was 'rescuing him', would 'make him a man', 'fix his life'. He was to do whatever she told him, try not to screw up badly and be grateful that ANY women wanted him, etc.

To their credit everyone, including the couple, looked embarrassed. The couple stood there looking pained. The ceremony lacked any dignity or gravitas.

I think this says something about men and about marriage - both are big jokes. It also says women are so fucking weak and insignificant society needs to take every opportunity to prop up their fragile egos.

EDIT, to everyone who implies that religious misandrism is isolated, here is another from a current post, and I could easily find and post many more examples of churches denigrating men as a joke:

EDIT: It was a civil ceremony, not in a church, but the Reverend was Presbyterian.
