Ahh well that’s the patriarchy you see.

If we supported feminism and tore down the “patriarchy”, they could make life better for men by not requiring us to pay for a woman and her child, for 18 years because we both had a drunken one night stand, she decided to keep the baby and society placed all of the responsibility on the man’s shoulders, despite us both being mature, capable adults.

So be a feminist and stop the patriarchy from doing this.

In their own heads the logic makes perfect sense. If the kid exists at all, she’s chained down for 18 years, so the sperm donor damn well better be whether he wants to or not.

The idea of themselves consenting to parenthood doesn’t even enter their mind, that and they don’t consider subjugating a man for nearly 2 decades to be suffering for him… because they’re often incapable of seeing his suffering at all.

And the state sets it up in such a way so the person is as divorced as possible from the money they are trying to extract from him, every opportunity to feel bad or guilty about it covered and put back on men.

I don't think the pregnancy itself is harder than the slavery the man can be put into. If the woman either has the child killed or adopted, the man is not likely to end up in indentured servitude (though as one poster says, it has happened to them). However, a woman who does not want to endure the trauma of killing a life growing within her, or the emotional anguish of giving it away (and the problem here is that it is her choice alone, without him having any legal rights), will end up having to bring up the child.

In that case, the more comparable situations are

a woman who goes through pregnancy (one she didn't want, to make the comparison accurate) and then has to bring up a child for 18 years;
a man who did not want to become a father, yet forced to pay for the child he never wanted.

Unlike feminists, we cannot pretend that human biology has left men and women equal in every way. This is most obvious when it comes to parenting. In the scenarios I've given and presuming the father is not entitled to even contact, let alone living with the child (or woman and child), the woman has her time much more restricted (at least for ten years or so) but that it offset by the joys she can get (if she allows herself) in being a mother. The father has his abiliity to set up a family of his own made much more difficult, has a portion of his time for 18 years (or more) given up to the child (and maybe the woman) and has no joy to offset this.

The difference with the woman's position over a normal nuclear family is not great, as she might well still be able to find a man to live with and can have an otherwise normal family life. The difference with the man's position over a normal nuclear family is largely that he doesn't get to enjoy his child, doesn't get to mould that child as he wishes and, because of financial limitations, may not be able to afford to have a family.

Because women simultaneously get to be seen as strong and powerful, and childish and inept. The court refuse to take into account the strides they have made economically and still treat women as if they are chained to men, when the reality is more women graduate from college than men, and all it takes is hopping on a dating app and you'll see all these women with these impressive degrees and high-falutting jobs making close to if not over six figures to see they no longer need us financially, many at least.

Do you somehow think that the woman is not also financially tied to the child? The average cost of rasing a child to 17 in america is about $230,000. The average child support payment over 17 years is $87,000. That leaves the woman with, on average, a little under 2/3 of the monatary cost.

Pregnancy can kill you if you are unlucky enough. Or make you disabled if you are less unlucky. So comparing the two directly is....not that great of an idea.

You can also end up with permanent health issues that even if they will not make you disabled, will fuck your life up, severly. Its not super high chance but its way more than zero. And abortion is not always a way to resolve the issue, or you might not make it in time to the clinic. Preeclampsia, for example. Or pregnancy-stemming diabetic complications. Or a shitton of other things. Want something "less severe"? Google Alicia Tysiąc from Poland - permanent effectivelly total-blindness, due to giving natural birth. Not so nice, eh?

And I just listed very first few issues that came to my head. Its two hours after midnight, Im still at work, and didnt sleep for last 48 hrs. So just those few :P

We can diss women in really many ways. But pregnancy is not something safe. Its safe-ish. And labor is way less than safe, even including full medicated situation like c-section delivery (because, tbh, anesthesia is not 100% safe, ever, too)

childbirth is described as one of the most painful experiences the human body can get :/. id rather have to pay some lady 200 dollars a month for 18 years then to have to push a 9 pound living being out of a hole the size of a toonie. plus pregnancy can hurt too, back pain, swelling, weight gain, hormonal issues, pain in breasts, back issues later in life, puking, and over all even the inability to do sports. my life does not need all that for almost a year. plus there other health issues that can come through with it, honestly it sounds nice to not have up to 2 years worth of lactation and to have to have that struggle
