While I don't think anyone should be shamed, I don't think it should be encouraged either.

Relationships are not only for making babies. I don't understand why this is such a big goal to strive for. More important is emotional, intellectual and physical connection. No point having a kid with someone you don't connect with, right?

Also if men can 'establish themself and have time to mature' then why do we not apply this to women? A women in her 30s is probably going to have an actual career, money and assets. Isnt this a positive thing?

Are we wanting to reinforce these gender stereotypes of men have to provide everything, be the moneymakers - that our value comes only from how well set up we are financially and how mature we are?

The attitude/idea that men should work hard, get money, power etc then go find a 20 year old women to get pregnant is just toxic, and causes issues for both genders. It enforces unequal power dynamics, puts more emphasis on superficial things over real connection. I find it hard to believe that these kinds of relationships last at all. Happy to be shown research that suggests otherwise.

I think this attitude is really holding us back...

Age decreases the quality of the sperm and so causes the same problems an older female would have.

A man in his 30-40 shouldn’t be trying for kids and expect zero problems.

The stigma is from older women feeling less valuable since their looks aren’t as good as they were well men’s looks are more based on his wealth which age doesn’t affect.

It’s also gross that a human would want to date someone who is half their age. It proves they only want looks or the fact that they are young and it’s not like they would have anything in common.

My own experience is that I've found that I've gotten resentful about being passed over when I was less well off and have less respect for people who are interested in me now because I know full well that I'll be abandoned if I fall on hard times again.

When I was 15, my friends dad tried to sexuallt assault me and tried to groom me. He was 48 years old. There's a fine line between dating someone a bit younger than you and being a paedophile. As a f who is in their 20s, I think that if an older man can not date within his age group, there must be something wrong with him for others in his age group to find him undesirable. Red flag.

Add: young females are not incubators. Women can still get pregnant in their 40s. If you missed your shot, maybe you shouldn't have kids. I would expect the same treatment towards older women dating younger men too. No bias between gender.

I think this opinion is mostly bullshit. Every situation is different but in you are in your 40’s or 50’s trying to date an early 20’s is weird. There is obviously a power in-balance and you’ll likely having nothing in common, and be used for money/being taken care of. A 20 year age gap does not make sense.
