Hey guys! So, context: An mra I follow on twitter made a post about sexist posts against men so someone replies to her and asks if there are ten ways men get discriminated/oppressed. So I decided to compile ten of them. You can find my response in the replies.

  1. Very few countries around the world have anti-MGM laws while having anti-FGM laws. Boys in some countries are publicly mutilated while being denied some rights for being uncircumcised. In some tribes, like the Satere Mawe tribe in Brazils, boys are publicly tortured as part of their passage to manhood.
  2. In the vast majority of countries in the world, men are more likely to be killed and beaten. Globally, men make up almost 80% of those killed.
  3. men are drafted in over 60 countries in the world while women can be drafted in only 9. And among those, women's time is shorter like in Israel. In countries like in countries like Singapore, men who refuse to be drafted can be jailed or fined, also if men publicly protest the draft.
  4. aside from the draft, men in a crisis are usually put last while women and children are saved first. Look up Srebrenica massacre UN response.
  5. Men are the 92% of those who die on the job. Out of the top ten most dangerous jobs, all ten have more men than women. Boys are also more likely to be child laborers than girls.
  6. Men get longer sentences for the same crime, in all countries of the world, men are more likely to be put in jail and executed. Men in the US are 22 times more likely to be killed by the police than women.
  7. In every single country, men are more likely to commit suicide than women. Therapy is more accessible to women. Even when methods are considered, men committed suicide more, and men showed a higher intent to commit suicide than women. Over half of men who join therapy drop out.
  8. Men make up 70-90% of those sleeping rough and almost 90% of those who die on the street. The vast majority of street kids are male.
  9. Women live longer than men on every country in the world, this can be due to the fact that men are more likely to die from cancer, heart disease, suicide, covid 19, etc. Many countries spend more on women's health research than men's. Many countries also have a women's health office but no men's.
  10. Men are almost as likely to be raped, beaten as a partner, and sexually harassed as women but these don't get taken seriously on any country on earth. Almost no domestic violence shelters for men exist. The Duluth model which is used in many countries, only recognizes female victims of domestic violence.
