Solution. Do not use dating apps.

[–]CrownlessRegent 109 points110 points111 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

What the.... Are they speaking about the same dating apps that exists in this reality or some other dreamt up apps?

Just install one and see the charter of demands women put up for "eligible men". If you criticize those demands, you're misogynist and an arsehole but if men put up few requirements of their own, it's still misogyny and xyz phobia.

If a woman plans dates through apps and ghosts multiple men, it is "empowering" and "progress" and if a man does so, the whole world comes after the man and doxxes him.

What a load of crap; it's not an article but a work of fiction.

[–]Typhooni 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a whole loaf of crap indeed haha and that's what makes it so much fun to laugh at! ;p

[–]neveragoodtime 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at how many women it brings out directing men to their instagram advertising their OnlyFans/ Porn site. Really empowering, ladies. The women set the rules, the men are just playing the game.

[–]HenryCGk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Adding to this she complain about the behavior of the handful of fuckable guy in her city.

Most men and women on dating apps are very reasonable people that just want to start communication with people outside of their day to day life.

Most women don't have crazy demands, most men arent playboys looking to lie to women, and women do not encourage eachother to ghost men.

Your views of what dating apps are like seem like someone that just reads horror stories about dating apps and has never actually been on one.

[–]Bara-enthusiast 39 points40 points41 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Stats speak otherwise

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -42 points-41 points-40 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

There's no stat that says most women have crazy demand or that women encourage ghosting.

[–]Bara-enthusiast 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Women have crazy demands and if they get pumped and dumped because they shot out of their league its their own fault

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -26 points-25 points-24 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Do you also blame men that are constantly rejected on dating apps because they are clearly 'shooting out of their league'?

[–]ThatOneCrusader1 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. I blame everyone for that. That's equality.

[–]Bbqwings23 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Clemicus 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most men and women on dating apps are very reasonable people that just want to start communication with people outside of their day to day life.

When have you been on a dating site? Remember way back when you claimed you're happily married to a stay at home wife, no children and, you work long hours

Keep. The. Story. Together. Now

Most women don't have crazy demands, most men are playboys looking to lie to women, and women do not encourage eachother to ghost men.

No. But there are groups and forums for judging men under the guise of protecting women. Look up Prick Advisor on Facebook. That was used to spread supposed red flags and get information about potential dates

[–]Yoramus 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are we really at a level where nobody gives a peep about an article putting 100% blame on men?

It takes two to tango. Dating apps absolutely encourage damaging behavior (from both men and women, it's ridiculous to have to emphasize that), since you take an interpersonal interaction leading to intimacy, sex, relationships, and you make it more an emotionless free market that what is already is.

Are you telling me there are no women who date multiple men at once? Or that there aren't women who take men for expensive rides? Or that the experience of having basically a "sex menu" in their hands does not make any minimally attractive woman (most of the 18-32 age group, a much bigger percentage than the men) objectifying and mean?

[–]Yesyesnaaooo[S] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thing that really stood out for me about this article is that a man would NOT be given column inches in a national newspaper for an opinion piece saying dating apps turn woman into sluts.

To me that's the problem.

Are some guys arseholes? Absolutely!

Are some women? Absolutely!

But the fact that this is given air time shows how toxic the debate has become!

[–]AbysmalDescent 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are we really at a level where nobody gives a peep about an article putting 100% blame on men?

How is that any different from the entire dating culture in general? All the onus of success is placed on men. If a man and a woman go on a date, and nothing stems from it, it is always assumed that the man was just not good enough or somehow messed up. It is considered "his" failure to close. Women will actively treat themselves like NPC's, simply because it makes it easier to fault men when things don't happen.

[–][deleted] 57 points58 points59 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

It's not the dating apps that bring out the worst in men, it's the women on those dating apps. They are the ones making the selection.

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -28 points-27 points-26 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

How exactly are women in dating apps brining out the worst in men by choosing partners? I get that you feel it's women's fault but how do you feel it's women's fault?

What are they specifically doing to bring out the worst in men?

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

They don't bring out the worst in any particular man, but they do pick some men based on certain characteristics, and reject others.

The ones they pick have superficial sexual attractiveness, good looks, tall, fit, high confidence. If several women then pick the same guy at the same time, he knows that he doesn't have to settle for a long term relationship. He can just get the easy sex and hop to the next. The process reinforces itself, because men with many options are more attractive to women, and the men get more confident as they get success. They also learn better how to get what they want. The other men that don't get any attention on these platforms get disillusioned and quit using them.

I'm not saying it's anybody's fault. It's just how the dynamics play out.

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, but you said "It's not the dating apps that bring out the worst in men, it's the women on those dating apps."

You didn't say women pick men that are already the worst. You said women bring out the worst in them. Which implies it's something women are doing wrong that leads to men treating them badly.

Did you mean to say 'women choose men that are already the worst and then don't like the outcome' or something like that?

And do you think women should start matching with more unattractive guys so they will treat them better?

[–]Yesyesnaaooo[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The guy just didn't explain himself very well in this case, well spotted, but you'd have a nicer time in life if you applied the principle of charity to strangers on the Internet.

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think thr knee jerk reaction of 'this is women's fault' when that obviously isn't isn't case should be called out.

People flock and give upvotes without ever having to answer the question 'how is this woman's fault'.

It's a concerning mindset to mindlessly blame women for something that isn't there fault and I believe that notion should be challenged.

[–]Bara-enthusiast 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If women shoot out of their league its their fault for being burned

Its like a 60 year old rich guy being mad that the 25 year old model is a gold digger

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tbh, men should never date down the social ladder - and that would solve kany issues. Not that good looking? Ignore her totally. Not earning enough to his standard? Ignore her totally. Anything not matching? Same.

Give nothing, unless she is good enough. Tske evrrything away if she fails even slightly, and put her through the emotional shitshow when she does fail. That is a norm of what women do, why shouldnt we?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I took some artistic liberty to keep it short and snappy. Probably a bit unfair, but the article was much worse.

do you think women should start matching with more unattractive guys so they will treat them better?

That's up to them. I do think it would be good for women to understand how the dynamics of dating and dating apps work. The article is claiming that 'straight men' have a seemingly endless set of options, and that the these men on these apps are 'privileged', without ever explaining that they're only talking about a small percentage of men that get all the matches.

[–]Yesyesnaaooo[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I admire how you admitted your error. Excellent work!

[–]imgurRefugee85 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Because that entire article was about how all women on these sites are choosing "West elm Caleb". Tinder doesn't "create" these men, it makes it easier for women to find them.

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/love-sex/women-men-dating-websites-picky-australia-study-a8418886.html

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Right. But how is it women's fault that the men on there are 'the worst'? When a woman chooses a man if he is 'the worst' and treats her poorly, how is it her fault?

[–]Wylanderuk 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She chose him and put out.

Fuck in the original article about this dude there was one that was complaining he did what she was going to do.

Frankly they are reinforcing the behaviours they complaining about because it works for the dude in question.

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So when a man marries a woman and she ends up making a false allegation against him, it's his fault for choosing her and putting out?

This is just pure victim blaming right?

Why?

[–]Wylanderuk 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You should stop trying to use analogies because you fucking suck at it.

Short term vs long term learn the difference.

[–]unaskedforbutgiven 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The women choose men on apps 90% based on athleticism and looks. Athletic men have much higher sex drives, lower commitment levels, (you can look it up, it’s science baby) and far more options - so they f*ck around.

If a woman cannot get her need for athletic alpha men (not super muscular - just low body fat) under control she will be used like trash - if you choose on looks you’ll be left forsooks

[–]denvercaniac 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's mystifying how so many profiles demand height and putting their kids first and hypergamous bullshit that caters only to her. Perhaps. Being self-absorbed for the world to see is not a good thing?

[–]aigars2 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men bad, women good. What's new?

[–]Dark_Knight2000 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I find this comment very telling ““West Elm Caleb is a pandemic,” said Molly, 34. “He’s everywhere. Except there’s no vaccine.””

I think this person meant cure not vaccine. A vaccine would be getting fucked by an average douche in high school and then learning to avoid those types of men and to pick out “safer” men. A vaccine puts the onus of protection on the victim, and the fact that they are getting constantly fooled by men like this shows they aren’t learning from their mistakes.

Same thing would go for men that “stick their dick in crazy” simply because a woman is hot. Learn your lesson, take smart risks, don’t take massive risks and then be surprised that you got the short end of the stick. Yes, that Toyota Corolla isn’t as exciting as a used Bentley, but it won’t leave you stranded and won’t screw you over when you least expect.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The three Chads she's seeing are each seeing three women...and radical feminist women hate when men have options. With tons of slut shaming.

[–]pabibismo 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People in glass houses and all that.

Dating apps have created a culture of worthiness around women where they hold most of the decision power but somehow that is not an issue.

[–]hudibrastic 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

“Apps like Tinder and Hinge give straight men unfettered access to women – and a new sense of boldness through a seemingly endless set of options”

[–]BoostedThrower 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If anybody ever needed more proof that the majority of females barely see men that do not fall in the top 20% as human just search up an article like this

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why do you say females and men in the same sentence? It's either one or the other but not both

[–]judasfire 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ofcourse it does , because when a man tries to approach a woman in real life , its not possible anymore , everyone tells that dating apps are the new trend. Alright so you go on a dating app , what you find is prostitutes , fake accounts , scammers , guys running a fake female account , real female accounts ignoring men.

I mean who wouldn't be mad?? Dating apps are useless and a scam.

[–]xdzgor 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Tbh I didn't realise you weren't allowed to date multiple people at the same time. Since when did dating mean exclusivity or monogamy?

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Until you have "that talk", then dating is not exclusive. Some women hate it that men could get attention from women without fitting their tight definition of what makes a "good" man. A manslave.

[–]TraehNoil 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude what a clown world. These apps have inflated women’s ego to the moon. Literally 5’s on that app are thinking they’re 9’s and 10’s while demanding a man that’s a 9 or 10. Gonna be a rough life when they hit 35

[–]Lifeisfantastic_95 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lmfao !

I think the Guardian messed up the headline, because actually the headline should have been " Dating Apps dont bring out the worst in people, only women"

But hey, I know if I put that exact headline on another sub reddit, I would be called an asshole and sexist for it . Thats why I love this sub reddit because it actually values men and mens rights

[–]Parzival_007 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Where is the dislike button on that site for that load of filth?

[–]belon94 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women setting lunatic dating standards and this article is here to blame men. No wonder, a lot of men are joining Mgtow movement because men are also at fault by default.

[–]k0ol-G-r4p 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As someone who has used dating apps in the past, I am completely baffled by the hypocrisy surrounding this Caleb situation. The majority of attractive people on these apps literally do the exact same things Caleb did. The reason for that is simple, they have many options hence their reluctance to settle on just one person. They are not wrong for exercising all their options, all human beings with options behave this way. Yes ghosting is a shitty practice but just like shit happens, sex happens and nobody owes you their time for giving up your body on a first date.

The dating app scene in general is one big game of deal or no deal, trying to figure out which suit case is legit. There are women and men that literally use these apps as free meal tickets. I had a woman try to claim she had a secret admirer in the restaurant gassing herself up I can only assume to encourage me to spend more to win her affection. The look on her face when I told her to get her secret admirer to pay her tab was priceless. That is how you play this game, that is how you avoid looking like a fool.

Who knows how many men she's tried to play that game with. I can guarantee you though if men tried to put her on blast like women have done to Caleb, that guardian article title would read "ANGRY INCELS ORGANIZE HATE RAID ON WOMAN FOR REJECTING THEM ON DATING APP". Its a truly disgusting double standard and why we should stop posting articles from websites like that. You don't click it, you don't buy it, they go broke and no more shitty people writing shitty double standard articles.

[–]Al_Modir 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The women I have met on dating apps have all been terrible. Rude, entitled, lying, cheating, extremists, openly racist, substance issues, plain stupid. Yet I always treated each with courtesy and respect. Now I am starting to question what the point is when they feel literally zero obligation to reciprocate that respect. Also you want to see how crazy a woman can become, literally all you have to do is reject their sexual advances and watch as they bring the whole world down around you. And people say men feel entitled to sex. Most men I know would just move on without any drama after being rejected even if it hurts. Women on the other hand… I swear if they were physically capable they would rape men more than men rape women.

[–]Huffers1010 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In general I can only echo u/EzzyLight's view that dating apps are a bad idea; how about we make some real friendships? Being buddies with someone before you go to bed with them used to be considered a good idea.

One specific phrase in that article, though, actually makes me wonder whose side the author is on:

Apps like Tinder and Hinge give straight men unfettered access to women

Unfettered? Really? Do women who put up profiles on these services not have any ability to turn people down? If true this would bring into question the entire concept of female agency in dating. Nobody on any such service is required to meet anyone, regardless what that service tells them to do. I would have thought it was fairly well established at this point that people are allowed to say no, isn't it? Slightly well-established? A well-worn point? I've never used a dating app in my life, but I suspect I might feel free to not meet people I'd matched with, and even freer not to meet again with anyone with whom I didn't hit it off at first meet.

The article is completely vacuous, giving the impression that the author and her friends lack the maturity to form normal, healthy relationships and have put their love lives entirely in the hands of a piece of technology, so as not to have to deal with complicated interpersonal relationships. Predictably, that's led to disappointment, embarrassment and social jealousy. I'd laugh at anyone who was idiot enough to do that, man or woman.

[–]EzzyLight 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks.

Apps. Well, apps are here to make money of communications, as most of social media are one way or another. What could possibly go wrong?

Also, I think we have a problem akin to porn addiction here, but it is much worse.

People get lonely, go to app find a hookup. Have casual, often mediocre sex, get dopamine rise because of novelty. Do it again. Get accustomized to ever changing partners.

As a result they do not really learn how to form lasting relationships and are hooked up on dopamine from ever changing partners, who are alvays new.

Plus woke society with sex-positivism, pressure and vanity.

This is the way to end up old and alone, because you do not know how to make lasting relationships and do not get off to one same person because you get addicted to change. But you are not such attractive to have a big succes on Tinder anymore. Also you could be pregnant or have an STD in worse case.

So, the only side, that really got benefits from this cock/vagina carousel, are the ones who get money for people using dating apps. By the cost of making a lot people wanting partner they can not afford, producing a lot of lonely bitter people, and potentially lone mothers, who's children have higher chances to have all manner problems in life themselfs.

De facto, dating apps make money for selling future that does not belong to them, exchanging it for an illusion of vanity and popularity now. I personally think it is not a fair deal at all.

But if we look things in a wider scope, things are much worse even. Why dating apps became a thing at all? Because people work a lot to get all things that should make them seem having status, and have no time for a long courtship, (wich is here for both sides to know each other and decide if it has a chance at all), to form a stable couple.

Don't you think that whole system is evolved (i do not belive in conspiracy theories, mind you) to the stage, where any and all human impulses no matter good or bad, are monetized?

I think it is very fucking wrong. System, that once was created to fulfill needs like shelter, food, money, etc and serve people now turned to make people serve the system.

I think huge bunch of reformation really needed. On all spheres.

Alas, I have no idea what can make people abandon that pass to void with as less collateral damage as possible. Covid seemed to fail in this regard.

Also women on such apps are already a vast minority of the users.

Wasn't stats something like 80% users are men 20% were women?

The rest are bots I'd say yeah.

When you look at any situation of a 5:1 ratio of two people wanting the same thing, the side with the bigger advantage will always filter the other one. Its a shitty reality but you see them have the highest standards and say the meanest things.

There was a study somewhere finding most men weren't anywhere near as shallow as women were on tinder I think it was?

[–]Aybarand 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was a 'Not attractive to Very attractive' bar graph, and women rated something like 60+% of men as less than average attractiveness. Yet all their pictures have ten filters on top of the makeup. It's fucking ridiculous, tinder and its ilk are such fucking shit.

And then there's talk of them being biased against men, sending non-paying parties to the bottom of the list and never getting seen, it's so wrong.

Well apparently it's the app-s fault for not vetting men... I wonder where is this common theme comes from that everything should be "ready to eat".. Perhaps, the manosphre teaches men to take responsibility (grow up) and don't wait for the world to cater to us. The current zeitgeist (whatever you call it..) teaches women to blame other things and people (most commonly men) for their hardships. Articles like this are the most devastating to female agency. The claim is that they are present to help women, but all they do is ripping them from responsibility (agency) and infantilize them. Feminism (if it was truly for equality) should be the first to call this out, and yet..

It's like they can't even see or understand the level of apathy and disdain that women develop towards men in the first place. Women have all the power on these apps and then still not only choose to do nothing with it(they don't pursue, instigate or enquire) but still maintain the same poor choices they would make in real life as well, consistently limiting their options to the best looking fuckboy/player.

They have all this power at their finger tips, if not simply to seek character over presentation, but they choose not to every time. Dating apps are not the problem, the entitlements, vanity, superficiality and narcissisms that so many women bring into dating apps are the problem. It's like women online are just fully incapable of humanizing the men on the other end of those apps, as if they were just popularity objects.

And that's not even going into the countless women who use dating apps as twitch, instagram or onlyfans recruitment apps either. And nothing is actually being done about any of it because we live in a society that just does not want to hold women accountable for their toxicity and bad behaviour, especially towards men. The people running these apps don't really care either because they can make a profit from the men being duped into thinking that paying for the apps will somehow address the way women judge men.

It's the guardian. Don't expect anything good to come from it.

Are you sure about that? Women on Tinder seem to want men who are at least six feet tall, with an eight-inch member, and making six figures. Meanwhile, if I ever wrote, “Must be a C or larger,” I’d get blackmailed left and right.

Women pass on 95% of men on dating apps. Men match with less than 2% of the women they swipe right on.

Get off of dating apps lads. Want to meet women! do it in person.

“Apps like Tinder and Hinge give straight men unfettered access to women – and a new sense of boldness through a seemingly endless set of options”

So anyone not top 1% is not even considered human.

Exactly dude!

And imagine a guy going in a national newspaper and writing

"Tinder gives whores the chance to have as much cock as they like, on tap!"

It's actually disgusting.

The thing is, women complain about men only being on dating apps to manipulate and sleep with men but play along with their shenanigans. Doesn’t that hold women accountable as well??? For all I’m concerned, if a man sexts a woman and she sexts back without commitment to actually meet up, they should both be held accountable for not making their intentions clear enough. Yet, there’s one difference in this situation. The woman is the one not serious, leaving the man whom wanted to meet her wondering where he went wrong and how he could improve. More than once I’ve heard women customers come into where I work and talk about the men they lead on like it was a joke, saying stuff like “I loved to see how he kept coming back thinking he had me” and “he really thought he could get someone like me???” I’m not denying that men don’t do this as well, but more than not, men will follow through whereas women won’t. The same women calling said men they also flirted with ‘creeps’ and ‘pervs’ because they where too scared to admit they liked someone less attractive than them or someone not up to their usual standards.

The women choose men on apps 90% based on athleticism and looks. Athletic men have much higher sex drives, lower commitment levels, (you can look it up, it’s science baby) and far more options - so they f*ck around.

If a woman cannot get her need for athletic alpha men (not super muscular - just low body fat) under control she will be used like trash - if you choose on looks you’ll be left forsooks.

Like the saying goes, "if you can't see the problem, then the problem is you".

Lmao dating apps are not "turning men into fuckboys". Guys getting 0 pussy irl are still getting 0 pussy on these apps.

The amount of degenerate women I have met through dating apps...
