Hogwash. Mass shooters represent an incredibly small fraction of a percent of males. 99.99999 percent of males are not mass shooters. The overlap between masculinity and mass shooters is incredibly small. There are also examples of female mass shooters. The common denominator and thing unique to mass shootings is mass shooters, not masculinity.

Blaming masculinity is basically an example of the nadir logic fallacy. Whatever is wrong with mass shooters isn’t true of men in general, if it was most men would be out there committing mass shootings. They’re not, and again while it’s more common that mass shooters are men, it’s not unique to men.

100% of mass shooters everywhere have (or had) a nose... I believe that there's a very high chance the next perpetrator of a school shooting will have a nose. We should start consider all those with a nose as potential school shooters.

Jordan Peterson got it perfectly, as usual. All those shooter boys want to do is a huge demonstration of competence. After being denigrated all their lives, and being told they are good for nothing, useless kids, the bottom of society, rejected by everyone, they want to show the world what they are capable of. And they do, and the world responds by giving them the exposition they want. By endlessly writing articles about them, giving them exactly what they want. After being in the darkest hell, they die in the brightest light.

Its quite obvious really but those people want to use this to keep oppressing boys, to blame men, to double-down in their suffering. Well keep pinching the lion and the lion will eat you.

Single mothers might cause mass shootings, but other countries with similar rates of single mothers don't have similar rates of mass shootings. So it's probably not the big of a contributing factor. That being said, I don't see how masculinity as a contributing factor can be quantified in anyway lmao.

Once upon a time, I had a dream where I was the U.S. president and made it punishable by jail to go to work as a man for ~2 weeks, just to show how many people would suffer if not for the working-class men. The law was passed on the condition it was indefinite instead of for 2 weeks (Lol), and the country collapsed in about a month.

I feel like this article isn't blaming masculinity as a whole. It's blaming the very widespread stereotype that masculinity=violence which then turns into a sort of self-fulfilled prophecy where those men who do commit mass shootings are trying to prove their masculinity by being violent. Trying to tackle the stereotype that men must be violent in order to be masculine is the right move forward.
