I'd say its perfectly fine for women to have the option to get an abortion if they don't want to deal with the financial consequences of having a child, after an accident happens. Accidents do happen and i am not in favor of forcing people to pay for 18 years for a child they did not want.

The problem is men needs to be given the same option. If an accident happens, then the man should be allowed to "opt out" of child support, and then its up to her to get an abortion or not, but if she has the baby then she's on her own.

This is only fair considering how women usually have more tools to avoid the accident (morning after pill, birth control pill, condom).

Yep. The double standard is strong. Women have the choice to not have sex, and also have way more contraceptive options. If all else fails, the just get to murder the baby. A man gets no say once the sperm leaves his body. Even if a woman impregnated herself with a used condom she dug out the trash, the man is on the hook. It's fucked up.

A man can want a baby and the woman will abort it anyway, unfortunately. A man can not want a baby and the woman has the right to keep it. Either way the woman has ALL the say. If a woman can make the decision to have an abortion despite her partner wanting the baby, then I do think it’s only fair that a man has the right to be financially absolved if the woman chooses to keep the baby and not put the child up for adoption despite the man not wanting a baby.

Idk if this makes sense. I’m against abortion altogether so this conversation feels weird. But if well😂

Unfortunately (for your hypothesis) they DID used to say that, way back 50+ years ago. That was the smug and sanctimonious claim blurted out by angry conservatives/religious folk and was meant to shut down conversations about abortion by making it clear to women that yes, there are consequences that may arise from the conjugal act. I use that imagery because that is how the pro-choice movement framed those that made that argument: ignorant bigots on the wrong side of history.

When abortion became legalized that argument ceased to be useful. Now women CAN have sex without needing to have a baby.

It's just convenient that everyone has forgotten just how clumsy and damning that argument was 50 years ago, and deliberately and conveniently forget that by simply passing laws you can make the argument void. If there was a will to pass such laws. Which there isn't for men who want the same right to fuck with impunity.

It is absurd, of course. A lot of abortions happen because a woman just changes her mind. So when they had sex, it was she wanting a baby. Now all of a sudden, not any more. It should be him to get financial payments from her for the stress an emotional suffering she caused to the man so inconsiderately.

They rationalize it away by saying that child support is about the rights of the child while normal abortions are about the richts of the woman which conveniently hides the way in which this kind of thinking gives women more power than men.

I'm of the opinion that abortion should be legal and decided by the mother only but if the father lets his partner know that he is not ready to raise a child he should be able to opt out of the responsibility because biology gives the woman complete power over the decision and with power comes responsibility.

I dunno, I think more or less everyone regrets the necessity of abortion; I don't think any woman in her right mind wants to undergo any of the various procedures that are necessary to make it happen. Even the early-stage pharmacological approaches can be a pretty unpleasant experience.

I think it's worth separating "obviously we'd all prefer this wasn't necessary" from "sometimes it's necessary anyway." Both can be true at once, of course.

Here’s one example. So many many many many more out there. Usually they focus on how the woman is a hoe, a whore, should have kept her legs closed, should be exercising abstinence, needs to be responsible for her actions, etc.

Biggest problem with financial abortion is the context, as someone pointed out, with financial abortion there is a child that needs health care, education, clothing and a lot of financial support, with abortion you don't have that. Most countries are not equipped with the social policies to support those expenses. One solution, not a comprehensive one but still somewhat useful, is setting a time limit for the parent to make use of the financial abortion, have a meeting with lawyers and such to make the financial abortion final, this way the bearing parent has to ponder whether they can afford to go through with the pregnancy and the other parent is protected in case of any troubles.

It comes from and old school point of view that sex isn’t for pleasure only for baby making.

I do believe that men should be able to financially abort the baby. At least up until the point in time that the mother is able to. Men definitely experience it to but saying that only men get that sentiment is just untrue.

Ironically I was told today I was bashing women because I said men should have financial abortions if women can abort for financial reasons, and that at least women had better birth control to prevent it
