For the women that wanted to be housewives from a young age: what did you major in?

I majored in art history. Yes, I did use it. Working was a pleasant distraction when kids did not come along as planned.

Business! It's a blowoff major but still employable I guess.

So far, it hasn't helped but it hasn't hurt. I made sure to be debt free. I got married at 21 with a positive net worth and immediately became a homemaker.

Engineering Physics with a Chem minor.

In true STEM fashion though I struggled with dating and it took ten years to finally get engaged lol

I majored in K-6 education with a concentration in Spanish. I never used my degree as I got engaged while still in college and graduated into a recession. I only went to college because I had always been told that it was necessary, and that no man would ever want to marry me until we were at least in our late 20s. So at 17 I went to college under the assumption that I needed a career to support myself for several years while I searched for a husband. It was a waste of 3.5 years (I took summer classes to graduate a semester early) and $32,000.

I would say that I always had aspirations of being a homemaker - but I also was pretty academically driven because I loved learning. Went to college and had a bit of a meandering path through engineering, biology (originally was going to be a pharmacist), and eventually majored in history. I loved my major and my classes and all the fascinating things I learned.

I then went to grad school for public history & library science on a dual degree program - because I didn't want to teach. Met my husband during those years, followed his career and, joke was on me, ended up teaching as part-time adjunct and then a few years in public schools before jumping ship to do a completely unrelated part-time job. Now I'm at home full time as we're getting ready to have our first child.

The degree definitely helped me get the jobs that I have had - but I would probably not major in history if I could go back. A lot of the value of my education trajectory for me was the fact that I met my husband, and would never have known him otherwise. I do still think I would enjoy a library job, but the fact is they are really difficult to get, and my priorities are really different now. If I do go back to work, I'll probably go back to my low-skill part-time job that was relatively stress-free. It was a good balance for us as a household!

Accounting. So if I ever needed a job to fall back on, I’d have one. And it’s useful for budgeting/financial planning/investment purposes.

Nursing :) I did a 12 month program and got my LPN! We got engaged a month after I graduated nursing school, currently been at my job for a year and a half. Planning on ttc in 2023 so if we're blessed with children then I'm most likely looking at another year or 2 of working. I love my job and feel like it was definitely a good decision. If nothing else it gives me security in knowing I have something to fall back on should I ever need to go back to working, since you really never know what God will throw your way.

Fine Arts (photography) with a minor in Art History!

I still take photographs as an artistic outlet and hobby, and my Art History minor has come in handy as neutral, yet charming dinner party conversation more than once :)

My wife always wanted to be a stay at home wife. She has a B.A. in Psychology, A.S. in Nursing. She is not a stay at home wife, because she decided she wanted a brand new custom home which cost a small fortune that we could not afford on my salary alone. So now we have 7 kids and both work full time. Worked out in the end, family wise. But it's been a rough road and if time travel we're possible, I would have taken a different path. But such is life.

Physics and Computer Science and a minor in Literature. I worked in computer security for almost a decade. Just because I knew I was more traditional didn’t mean I wanted to stop learning and growing. I also speak five languages. I’m an asset to my HVM.
