I would hope that if a man did this it would be considered largely innocent, although I suspect in real life it would depend entirely on the man.

If it were an attractive guy with a TikTok following, he'd probably get away with it, almost like a sort of reality TV show stunt or something, people are receptive to good-looking charismatic people doing something unusual and fun.

If it were Nerdy Norman who usually hangs out at the local board game and comic book store... probably not so much. He might not be arrested, but it probably wouldn't go nearly as well for him, I would expect a decent amount of "ew, please leave me alone" rather than "aw, I'm flattered, thank you".

There would, I agree, be a difference in perception, as women aren't considered to be "predatory" or "aggressive". The good looking guy would probably overcome that limitation, but the nerdy/shy one likely wouldn't, instead being perceived as "creepy" rather than "charming and quirky" like this woman.

This is the difference: https://ibb.co/WWWGzwm

u/TheSnesLord is looking rather good today aren't they?

[–]pearl_harbour1941 66 points67 points68 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good for her for taking a proactive approach to dating. Not many women do. Shame she doesn't just talk to them, that might be less creepy, but she is innovative at least.

Yes, I think there may be a double standard. I can imagine that a guy doing this might be seen as creepy, but it all depends on how hot the guy was.

[–]5shad 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

She has been turned down quite a bit from what I've gathered. I mean the kind of men she picks though. Like come on, step down a bit. She's way too ambitious. There are levels to this.

[–]somethingneet 58 points59 points60 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Average women think they're 9/10 because we've driven the price of pussy up

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Interesting take. Usually we hear about how the price of sex for hawt guys has gone down. He used to get pressured into a shotgun marriage if his GF got pregnant, but that stopped working after abortion and the pill became widely available. Tinder makes it easier for him to find plates. The issue seems to be that when an average 4/10 woman gets a hawt 9/10 guy to sleep with her, she thinks she's a 9/10 too and then gets very frustrated when her biological clock signals an emergency and she hasn't been able to get any to commit to her.

It's pretty hard for a 5/10 guy to find a 5/10 GF anymore. So for them, I think you're spot on. It takes a lot more work by him to get a 4 or 5 than it used to.

The reasons for more and more women aiming too high are multiple and complex. I've gathered that a large part of has to do with many of the old cultural norms that kept their expectations in check have been disbanded.

[–]IceCorrect 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And even if she eventualy date/marry men on her level, she would resent him and eventualy divorce, beacuse in her mind she is settling

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep, it's a real problem today. Men really need to watch closely for the signs she may barely be sexually attracted and/or settling hard.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yup its very complex and the complexityies work both way especially when guys are getting towards 30 or more and are no longer naive.

The women seem delusional in their own value eg they all want an 8+. But this works against them because they ignored their respective counter parts in their 20's completly.

Byt the time a 5-6 womn now walks up to a 5-6 man and pays them a compliment, asks them out or somehting which has happened so rarly to them in their 20's. They are like "Umm? What scam are you trying to pull here" since literally almost all past events like this have been used for some form of expliotation eg sales, free drinks, free meal, prank or walking wallet basically or some kinda deal like this.

The result of this is the guys have stopped asking but they also reject being asked because they have nearly ZERO trust or respect for the women asking them because they have been messed about too much.

At the same time the women have to now invest time to get a guy to actually go for them... cause of this and the women expect "magic stuff" to happen in the first 1-3 dates / meeting them or its off and the guys don't "take the bait" until well after that. The result of that is nothing happens because of "silly" rules and game that people follow and play.

[–]TheSnesLord 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men can date down and f**k down. Women only date on par or up, and f**k up.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yup. But what happens when the men who are a 6 think they are a 4 and the women who are a 4 think they are a 6 because of hookup culture.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I realize it was probably a rhetorical question, but you got me trying to think through the answer. Thought I'd write it out in case I got it wrong.

A 4/10 woman who thinks she's a 6 is pretty much undateable for anything other than a hookup. A 5/10 would be in her league, but she won't ever be happy. Any 7+ guy she want's isn't going be happy marrying a 4.

A guy who's a 6 and thinks he's a 4 might settle for something pretty dismal like a 3. Even before hookup culture or outside of it today, I bet there are a lot of guys that don't realize how much their score goes up from 15 to 35. I know I didn't. A smart woman wanting to marry up could catch one young (22-25) and lock him down. I'm really surprised more women don't do this. My only explanation is they keep holding out for someone better and only realize the best they're going to ever do was an ex-BF who's no longer an option.

The interesting thing is if you put them both together. In theory the woman would be content to get a 6 when she sees herself as a 6. The man may be content to get a 4 when he sees himself as a 4. So there seems like there could be a chance this could be a stable relationship.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mostly year. But its just one variable in many. Looks is just one thing but like online dating it just broken for many reasons.

eg Nobody fills out the profiles "honestly" so the only actual selection criteria is looks. so thats hte outcome we have. eg people can only make a decsison on data that presented.

Part of the problem with that is the data mostly is a lie. eg Fat people taking high angle shots then selecting "average body type"

You know what they said? Its about putting the best foot forward right? Well somebody forgot to mention you have to do it with integrity and honesty and be authenic and that just isn't the case any more.

The bigger influence that I see. Online dating removed peer review from dating, People used to date people who were in loosly connected social circles. So you could really kinda find out if somebody liked you before putting skin in the game. People also came with reputation this way eg every girl knew who the guy was who was a "bit to forward", the player or the town bicycle was etc.. etc.. that way they players dated the town bicycle like you could see hte girl who changed the bloke every 3-4 weeks was. All of that now has gone with things like online dating.

Another is actually the pickup artists. Where its basically guys are going "club game" which has now turned into "day game" and the women are just treating it like spam and are fed up with it. Cause its the same idiots who just spam people like email marketing but in person.

You see this in the clubs where I am. Where 2 girls go for a drink somewhere and ever 5 minutes some guy walks up to them. then walks to the next girl, the next afer that then leaves to the next club to repeat until success (rarly this happens).

Note: Was out with some friends one of the girls got like 37 phone numbers or something in one night or something to put this in perspective.

The result of that is the women now go to the clubs in packs and the normal level headed guys don't even bother to approach. Cause like above don't realize they are just spam... much the same way companies don't realize they are spam when 100 different companies each send 1 email per week to you and "but I am not the problem"

Theres a lot more variables at play here. Looks is just one of the simple ones. The rest has to work as well... currently nearly none of it lines up.

What we are really seeing with dating is both sexes having reactions to behaviour they don't want to see from each other and this is bouncing back and forth while at the same time basicalyl coming up with genizations and not treating anyone as an individual any more and actually getting to know the person. eg silly rules like... "Well if its only a coffee date its not good enough for me" while that has occured because its a reaction to "These women keep taking advantage of free meal dates"

Thus creating a constant and deeping loose loose situation. The best thing people need to actually do with it.... Take a step back and stop trying and just go do things and stop trying to "make something broken work"

This means. dropping the online dating, the speed dating, dumping the makup, dumping the fake hair, nails. Dumping the silly rules. "I gotta sleep with each other by the 3rd date", "Gotta go to best restraunt in town" and then actually going back to getting hobbies intrests and peer social groups which we have lost so much of.

[–]foreverstudent8 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women play on easy mode in their teens and 20s. When they get to be 30+ the game stops being rigged as much in their favor and so they cry sexism because they think they're being treated unfairly when in reality they've just had their game set to normal.

[–]somethingneet 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's not that complex. Men like to fuck, there's an abundance of average women, tinder exists, average women can fuck all the men they want and naturally drift up the ladder.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I completely agree with you for the hookup market. I didn't do a very good job trying to make the distinction that the marriage/LTR market is very different.

[–]somethingneet -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't fully believe that either. I don't think there's as much of a difference between the 2 as people like to say there is. There's no reason to believe that the decision making is any different between hookups and relationships

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

the decision making is any different

If you mean attraction, especially sexual attraction, then yes, I'd say that's identical.

The main difference in the hookup / marriage markets is that one guy can "service" several women in the former, but not the latter (unless polygamy comes back). That's what lets the 4/10 women drift up in the hookup market but not the marriage market. Sure, there's overlap and things don't fit neatly into one bucket or the other.

[–]somethingneet 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is false

Research has shown that around 50% of young 13 year old American girls
reported being unhappy with their body. This number grew to nearly 80%
by the time girls reached 17 years of age.

In one Switzerland study of 1000 adult women (aged 30-74 years), despite
73% of women falling within the normal weight range, more than 70% of
these women expressed a desire to be thinner. This trend also held
true for older women (> 65 years); 65% were of normal weight, yet 62%
of these women wished to be thinner

And yet average women still expect to be with only the most attractive men. This has nothing to do with insecurity

[–]h3th3y -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you have a source for that?

Sorry buddy but if you don't have sources to support your "facts", youre just a stranger on the internet making up numbers.

What a creep.

[–]Fuzzy_Department2799 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Honestly its an awesome approach to it. Seems like I remember that introduction cards were a thing back in the old days. But also judging from the guys she approached I have a feeling she is limiting her potential partners due to her personal preferences. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just saying if you seem to be having trouble making matches maybe you are being too picky or over valuing what you have to offer.

Edit: I just visited her tiktok. She is absolutely one of the average girls who think they are hotter than they are. Nothing wrong with having confidence in yourself but it wasn't hard to figure out why she cant get a date with the guys she pursues.

[–]bottleblank 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Heh, yeah, I was thinking looking at those guys, I don't think I'd be on her list of people to hand a card to...

Then again, having seen some of what's written on the cards, I'm not sure I'd be immediately interested. If one of your hobbies is "eating bagels", you probably need more hobbies. But, with that said, if she was charming in her approach and seemed fun to chat to, the cards are nothing more than a prop and what's written on them doesn't mean very much.

[–]biff64gc 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I caught the bagel thing too. Which is odd considering one picture has her handing out the card in a gym with a rock wall...Even if she doesn't climb, I assume she works out, but bagels made the list three times over that.

Not a strong resume.

[–]Jbr74 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Guys she chases have options, and you ain't one sweetie.

[–]TheSnesLord 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She might want to look in a mirror before handing out those resumes so confidently.

[–]SpicyNippss 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

To be fair, you shouldn't have to be hot to do this, but the men she was going for is really telling. She's definitely not going for a good personality.

[–]TheSnesLord 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

but the men she was going for is really telling.

So you should understand on why I made my comment as is.

She's definitely not going for a good personality.

The notion of women going for personality in a man has always been a myth.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

It makes me wonder if her generation has forgotten how things worked in person back in my day (I'm 44). As a young adult, I didn't have much luck when I pursued the women I found most attractive (not the hotties, but just ones that fit exactly what I liked but peers would have put at a 6 or 7). It didn't work very well. Then I learned the signals women give to show they're interested in a guy and paid attention and watched for them. If I wasn't interested in return, I ignored them and they gave up. But it surprised me some of the more attractive ones I thought were out of my league showed interest and so I got some dates. I remember a couple that were kind of shy and their attempts at showing interest were a bit awkward even. Some were pretty darn direct - twice a woman took my arm in hers while walking next to each other and pressed my upper arm pretty intentionally into her breast.

Do people not read body langue from interactions like this anymore? I think all the body language, flirting, and watching before things ever got to the asking for a number or date helped people figure out what league they could hope to attract and therefore what league they were in. Maybe that's been lost - everyone has their nose glued to their phone these days. Hook up apps like Tinder aren't helping women who seem to often get confused that a hawt guy would be willing to have a fling with her but there was never any possibility he'd offer her long term commitment.

It does seem like the gal in the article is aiming too high and missed the stage in life where you get this calibrated. Some women refuse to admit there attraction starts dropping as they age past 25 too. But she's only 27, so that's probably not the issue here.

Anyway, good for her for being proactive instead of so many women being way too passive about things (like only going to work, home, and the grocery store) and never showing any interest in a guy she likes.

[–]IceCorrect 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But she's only 27

I wont belive it, or she have history of using many drugs/alcohol so her skin looks much older than some female friends of mine that are 30+

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, when I read the article I thought that was a pretty rough 27.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The33secrets would say that some girls become the DG already at 25.

[–]Jbr74 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So chick who is a 4 or 5 at best, trying to pick up guys outside of her league. How cute.

She'll probably score some one night stands though.

[–]foreverstudent8 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's be real, she's a 4 on the internet. In-person, she's probably a 6 or 7. She could get a husband easily. And that man will swear he's the luckiest guy on earth and bust his ass to give her the world. That's just how pussy starved men are. And that's just how fucking easy life as a woman is.

[+]DeddestNash -6 points-5 points-4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd hate to see how I would score on your scale man, I thought she was pretty...

I guess my ratings are very different from yours lmao

[–]klouted_pollo 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’d tear it up in front of her

[–]Scandi_Navy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude knock it off.

[–]Melkor7410 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Eh, I knew a guy that handed out business cards to women for the same purpose. They weren't his real job business cards, but literally cards about wanting to hook up. He never got arrested or charged for harassment.

[–]TheSnesLord 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then this guy must have been good-looking or/and attractive.

inb4 anecdote "no he was short and average looking", etc.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, theres Chris Chan, and he was arrested...

[–]mcc9999 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is just funny. Sad though how she felt the need to document her efforts w/ TikTok.

[–]ANUS_CONE 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly that sounds like a pretty good idea. I don’t think this would get you arrested for harassment. You might get laughed at a few times.

[–]Naru4odo 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She is busted.

[–]thenameless685 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she can't get the dudes she wants to date her in an app designed to date and hook up. What makes her think she can get a date in real life. 🤔

[–]supersonicsixteen 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More power to her. There are a lot of dudes in this world and she’s putting herself out there.

Why not apply?

[–]Laytheblameonluck 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's nothing wrong with this, it's just that women don't do this because they argue that the men will use them for sex, which is totally a ridiculous argument because if a guys going to use a woman just for sex, he's going to approach any old trash.

The real reason seems to be hypoagency.

[–]sumfacilispuella 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i think women would much prefer this. hand them a resume and walk away and leave the ball in their court. no harassment or fear of a rejection taken badly.

[–]DronesandBones 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No different than guys handing out business cards. I’ve known quite a few men that do that. With mixed success.

Most likely you would be accused of that. If not a wave of lies about who they handed it to.

I think the article must be written by a friend. Rather long for a puff piece with a few too many photos. I suspect the article might be part of the dating strategy.

Oh ma’am… you have a great body that you worked for and a face even god can’t save.

She’s a brown bag special acting like she belongs on the showroom floor

True, and this is the most cringe-AF way to look at dating, but at least she's doing the obvious thing and making the first move. If she'd be willing to immediately get a coffee and talk about how that's just the worst approach ever, I'd be happy to have her hand me a "resume", and would gladly prefer this over the current "hope you don't get falsely accused" system.

[–]msennello 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To follow-up, though, I think it's pretty obvious what's at the heart of this. She isn't "busted", but she's really "average" in the looks department, and the guys she's approaching are obviously 6'2"+ absolutely shredded athletes/male models, who probably have 11/10's approaching them non-stop already. Guarantee this woman has a completely delusional view of her own physical attractiveness, and probably a completely delusional view of herself in general. Guarantee this wouldn't be a story if she had any real sense of her own physical attractiveness, because she'd have been in a relationship 3 years ago and walking down the damned aisle today. And, sadly, common knowledge and all of the data suggest this is a universal problem with women: way over-estimating their own physical attractiveness, and way under-evaluating the average male attractiveness.

I think this sub will sometimes takes things a tad too seriously.

This is just a light news story, come on.

Yeah, what a crazily whiny post. Some inoffensive cutesy story and it's straight to "I suspect a man would be arrested for this", which they probably wouldn't even be.

Honestly, this is one case where I would accept a double standard. It will help to normalize women making the first move. Normalizing women making the first move will take the pressure off of men making the first move. Which would prevent men from putting themselves in a position where they might get accused of harassment.

The problem is women that are solid 6's think they should pull in 10's like Chad McThundercock. So no joy. Just lower your standards ladies.

This did happen in real life. Chris chans love quest was essentially this. He got kicked out of college and banned frlm several malls for doing.
