Maybe someone could invent an app for hookups and casual sex and then we can tell how many one gender has on it compared to the other? We could name it something stupid like Tinder and then they could reveal the data and it would say something like there is 1 woman for every 9 men on this app designed for casual sex/hookups. I'd answer this not correct. In my opinion, women would want as much casual sex but would be more picky on how it happens and with whom.

A man can be attracted by any girl next door and will enjoy some casual intimacy right away if she offers or accepts it.

But women... They just got to be more wary about the guy they will meet.

On the whole, men have a higher sex drive and are more easily attracted to women than women are to men (the triggers are different), they have less need to protect themselves socially and physically, and they suffer fewer potentially negative consequences (STDs and pregnancy).

Psychological studies have confirmed this.

So it should come as no surprise that more men want casual sex than women.

The only reason to deny it is ideological (feminism, blank-late theory, etc.).

Men want it more because they don’t have to suffer the consequences of having sex as much in terms of childbirth and supporting a child from an evolutionary perspective.

Birth control makes no difference. If it did, women would be much less discriminating about whom they choose to have sex with like how men are. Women’s choosiness means that they desire casual sex less.

I think both men and women like feeling connected in equal amounts. We all like to experience being treated like we're desireable and appreciated.

I think men more readily feel connection through sex (because it's very easy to feel good, and thus easy to have positive associations!) So men more often go straight for sex, as it's the quickest route for us.

Because sex doesn't guarantee pleasure for women (not for any fault of "men" so much as they simply don't arouse as readily, and take more time and care for their bodies to be "ready" for sex), I think women more often prefer to diversify their romantic experiences, because "romantic appreciation" is much easier to experience than sexual arousal.

This takes many forms, form base demonstrative acts like thoughtful dates or gifts, to romantic kissing/embracing, or generally a really good "memory" that stands out and is unique to the experience she has with her man.

So... SOME women probably want casual sex as much as men... but those women are the ones getting good enough sex that it's something they appreciate and feel appreciated during. It seems to be hit or miss with casual. Too many lackluster exchanges (or, for the anxious, the idea of too many lackluster exchanges), probably account for why at least some of them stop bothering with casual if they can get other, more enjoyable options (ie, a regular partner/FWB will know her body and what she likes, making it easier to feel appreciated.)

Ultimately, it seems that men feel appreciation if the woman is willing to have sex with her. Women don't seem to feel appreciated unless the sex is either personal for her, or really good.

Women in general want just as much casual sex as men in general however they need to be much more careful about getting it. If women had a fool proof way to determine if a man is safe to be with or not then they would absolutely be having more casual sex.

There's been studies and surveys proving this. Most women try out hookup culture and immediately leave it behind after 1 or 2 guys. The rate female orgasms in hookups is also extremely low.

Just talk with a sample size of random women or man.

Most Man could look at a woman for 10 seconds and decide they want to have casual sex with them.

Most women want a lot more than a 10 second look at a man to decide to want casual sex with them.

As a result, man are much less picky and context dependent on whether having sex or not. If an attractive woman could magically appear at a man’s doorstep ready to have sex every morning, it would work out for most man. The reverse, not so much.

I don't think it's true at all. I think men are indoctrinated to believe that they're supposed to be having more casual sex than women. But I've rarely met a hypersexual man that genuinely enjoyed having sex with a ton of women.

Most sexually promiscuous men that I meet are victims of sexual abuse and have emotional attachment issues where they can't bond with other people. Sex for them is usually a form of self harm, or an attempt to feel wanted/close by someone. It's rarely ever about the act of sex with attractive people.

In the seduction sub so many men say that once they finally racked up a high count of casual sex partners that they felt empty inside and that the experience was no longer enjoyable after a while.

The hypertextualization of men is a way to dehumanize men and to make them more malleable for social exploitation. Men are at the top of the social hierarchy, so they're in denial about how social indoctrination harms them specifically, since they believe they reap more benefits by participating in the system.

The proper claim is that

"Women are more likely to be OKAY with NO casual sex than men."

Both genders would love to be fucked by prime George Clooney or Emma stone or whomever you choose.

But a man will settle for the Plane Jane. The woman won't settle for Average Joe.
