On the 17th, an hour before I left work she says she needs space, took our kids and left for her mother’s house. It was a big deal for me but not so crazy.

She then went no contact with me for 16 days, aside from whatever childcare issues we had to address. She says she needs time to tell me what she needs to say. During this time I’m on tenterhooks but when we talk, she say’s simply “I don’t want to move forward in this relationship with you “.

So I went to the courthouse to get a packet of divorce papers. I intend to serve them Monday but my buddy convinced to talk to a lawyer first. The house is in my name. We’ve been married just over a year. We have one child together.

What am I missing in this process? Or what do you guys wish you knew prior? I’m in California btw.
