Male or Female attorney?

I had a female and she was very effective and attentive. Aggressive and wouldn't back down when wife wanted to push off hearing on her paying half daycare fee. My lawyer got the judge to decide then and there.

I started with a male attorney and ended with a female. The male was very thorough when we were doing discovery and getting stuff done. But my ex hired a bitch of a woman and he backed down to her, I felt like, and was putting stuff off until trial. I fired him and hired a female attorney, because she was a bitch too. I feel like she understood the crazy better than he did and enjoyed being a bitch back to my ex wife's attorney. I will go with a bitch of a female should I ever go through this again.

We had a kid together so another thing that impressed me about my female attorney was the fact she learned our child's name and always referred to them by name. My male attorney always referred to them as the "the child" and I noticed my exs attorney did the same thing. I think I felt more comfortable with her because of this and it's always pissed me off when I heard or read something with them being referred to as, "the child."

I ended up hiring a female attorney and she not only unfucked the mess made by a couple of male attorneys, but she helped me terminate alimony a couple of years after the divorce. That said, I don't think gender really matters. Do your research and start interviewing attorneys then choose the best fit for the job. I hired the female attorney based on her experience with the court in my jurisdiction. She had tons of cases representing men and women and was very familiar with the judge presiding over my case. She also seemed to have it out for women like my ex(self-entitled cheaters who abandon their own children)... this was obviously a plus.

My lawyer is a gay man. It might be offensive to say, but I find comfort conceptualizing him as immune to women. I’m still in the early phases so I hope it goes well, so far so good.

It doesn’t matter male or female. Stick with the lawyer that realized that divorces are about money.

Also had a female attorney, and think it was a strategic advantage. She was referred to me by a friend that went through a very nasty, contentious divorce, and he couldn’t have spoken more highly of her. I was very happy with her counsel and representation.

Regardless, go in prepared, and with a strategic objective. Will save you time and money.

It's important to have a male attorney if during your marriage you couldn't stand up to your wife. If you were intimidated by your wife during marriage, then a female attorney or female mediator will steamroll you like your wife did.

I had a female lawyer. I regret it. She did not stand up for me to my expectations.... but on the flip side, she understood female tactics.

If I had a do-over, it would be male lawyer.

Go with a man. He'll likely understand a man's issues better and won't play with kid gloves with your wife.

Do you think you’re going to have a contentious divorce?

Remember that attorneys are incentivized to make divorces as difficult and expensive as possible. They’re paid by the hour. If there’s any chance of a splitting up somewhat amicably you should do that, even if it means making some concessions to your employer ex.

My first divorce I had a man and he did ok. Ex wanted it done quickly and so did I. Grown child and only property was a gift of land from my parents and her 401k. She tried to make me pay half the land until my lawyer mentioned I was entitled to half of the 401k, so we called it a wash.

Doing it again now and chose a woman. We'll see this one might try to put her hooks in a little deeper, but again no property and no children.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have definitely got a female attorney.

I mean I clearly was going to get 0 advantage as a man in family court, maybe she would have been. Also, female lawyers seem to be more savage.

My lawyer was an old judge, stupidly I thought that would be a good thing, I didn't realize how shitty he was until it was too late.

I had not just a woman, but a black woman as my attorney. She was great. First thing as soon as we get the initial draft stuff out of the way, she was like "dude, you're offering her waaaay too much. You gotta think about yourself and your own expenses. Look, my last client was makin basically same as you and his ex was just like yours and this is what we ended up payin."

I think she had my then-soon-to-be-ex figured out. My ex thinks she's the smartest person to ever smart their way into smarting anything. So my lawyer sent paperwork and everything with some deliberate and calculated grammatical errors so my ex got super overconfident thinking my lawyer was stupid, and so my ex made dumb tactical errors and focused on the stupid little details instead of the broader content.
