It is a common tactic to paint your detractors as irrational with labels like "angry" and "jealous". That's much easier than actually addressing their arguments.

Nicely put! Some white males are mad as hell not that minorities or gays or women aren't "kept in their place" anymore, but more that they feel that "they" are taking places that were "rightfully ours."

Or they think they're being taken away based on something other than merit.

But just to say that it's a real feeling doesn't make it "true" - that is, it is not an accurate analysis of what caused their situation

This applies to other groups as well.

I honor that feeling, but I don't think the cause of their miseries is the enormous strides made by women, or gays or people of color.

Unless those strides were made not simply by removing barriers, but by reserving special spots for them.

There are some good analyses of Tea Party women that suggest that they are motivated not as "women" - to advance their position as women in the marketplace, let's say - but as "mothers" and especially as "stay-at-home mothers," which is what they wanted to be. They resent having to work, they resent losing their ability to be homemakers and wives.

Calling stay at home moms lazy and entitled, now?

Well, what's more true is that "guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people."

Yes, including in self defense and police action, but the gun debate is a bit more complex this his or my response here.

Let's ignore that firearms are a much greater equalizer for women than for men as well.

"More equal" based on one particular measure of equality, which happens to be outcome, which requires by definition unequal treatment.

I am a white male from the south, but I am so not the stereotype he's selling for demonization and marginalization. In that regard, I may not be typical as an MRA, either, Im not sure. I do not subscribe to a conservative social agenda, I have no problem with greater opportunity for all people, there is no religious motive to my beliefs, I never felt entitled to certain positions or social privilege, in fact, in school, I more often felt that being male was a liability. This guy is an unqualified asshat and the interviewer is even worse.

This article misses the point and lumps together mostly unrelated ideologies.

As far as I am concerned and as seems to be the norm here, the narrative which I subscribe to is one of equality, fair treatment for all and about questioning toxic traditions and outdated social expectations.

If I am associated with Neo Nazis, school shoters and duly convicted wife beaters just because I happen to care about the male side of certain social issues, so be it.

I'm a fairly bright person and can usually grasp the point of a writer pretty quickly. But this guy has me stumped. I'm guessing he just cobbled together a lot of crap and some editor with a severe hangover and a deadline to fill a slot in a genre published it as a book.

Everything in the article sounds like random ramblings to me. His "opinion" on MRAs is no exception. Considering that most copies of his work will end up as unsold pulp, I could give a fuck.

It's the misguided white knight manginas who can write well that concern me. Not naming names like The Good Man Project or anything though.

It will be assumed that if you are in an Mra circle that you are a white male, as the author notes, they are being targeted for systematic removal and depopulation.

People like the author cannot comprehend that anyone without the "social privilege"(the cornerstone of their ideology) that they are attempting to dismantle would align themselves with something that in their view is "fundamentally incompatible", such as the rights of men, it goes against the inverted social pyramid or whatever they're calling their new hierarchy now.

It's as ridiculous a concept to them as a Jewish Neo Nazi, or black klan leader.

Racism has to be their next attack posture. Their accusations of misogyny failed completely and actually ended up hurting feminism by exposing it to real scrutiny. The race-baiting is a poor plan that will fail as well. Gender supersedes race every time -they know this because it is their mode of operation.

I'm more concerned that angry white men suddenly have no reason to be angry (even though society insists these people cannot be discriminated against and happen to live lives of extraordinary leisure at the costs of others) as well as no reason to be taken seriously.

Would they care if it were men that weren't white? If so, what does that say about how we as a society view white men? Oh, right - I think we all know already. It's the only group where racism doesn't count for some invalid reason.

Really though, are white men not allowed to be angry?

You have to understand that progressives have always engaged in hatred and bigotry. Throughout the early 1900's the KKK was the militant auxiliary of the progressive movement. The reason for this is, progressives are psychopathic in nature.

Concepts like reason, truth and fact, are non existent. It is all about how they want to perceive the world, not how the world actually is.
