My favourite bit is this phrase (on p.4):

startling anecdotal evidence

Think about that for a second. What could that even mean? If evidence is anecdotal, it can't be startling, not to anyone with a vaguely empirical outlook.

All this article does is string together a series of anecdotes interspersed with comments from gender feminists like Laura Bates. That's it. That's all it does.

The anecdotes that can actually be followed up upon (e.g. the Glasgow uni story) are reported inaccurately. This was an injustice, but it was that these men were pursued for booing the female speakers' comments in a debate. The accusations of sexism, in short, were groundless. Not that this stopped the media from picking up on the story and reporting it inaccurately, of course.

As for 'uni-lad', something else we can verify independently, it's a website that quite deliberately tries to provoke "Down with this sort of thing" reactions from idiots like The Daily Mail. They are not veridical representations of the authors' or the readers' actual opinions. The author of this piece seems to miss this rather obvious point. It's also not accurate to say it's 'thriving'. I see no evidence that anyone who isn't using the site to create moral panics takes the website at all seriously, or that it is that popular. Alexa confirms this.

So do we have a reliable credible source even on the anecdotes supplied, poor evidence as that is in the first place? I would say - no, we don't. It can't even do that right.

What we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is a piece of shit article.

To join my university's rugby team in first year, you had to undertake the following ritual:

Acquire a drinking horn full of ale.
Allow your team mates to put into in phlegm and semen.
Down that horn on a wall.
Vomit it into the ground.
Jump down and get on your hands and knees.
Eat the vomit while people spit on you.

Needless to say, I couldn't take part because I didn't want to do any of the above.

Just kind of an odd thought I had while reading through this... could this not be seen as the result of more women at universities?

I mean, if there are more women at a university and less men, then that would mean that a sexually charged environment is going to be struck with a large amount of competition for those majority females to find themselves a man. To me, it doesn't seem like they are being forced into any of this behaviour, but participate in it freely in order to sexually attract a mate (or a one night stand)... But, maybe that's too simplistic.

I was in college once too. Much like many of the students at my university, I also went out and partied. And when I did stupid shit, I never tried to blame the man. I just thought, "Wow, that was some dumb shit I did last night. I should probably grow up a bit."

I have no problem with articles such as these and the culture it is spreading. You know why? It says women are children. It says they have no responsibilities, no agency, it says if a man says "dress slutty" then all women in ear shot must follow orders of their own accord. In short, it says women are children.
