Male strippers are a novelty like a gag gift. Mostly a corny joke for Bachelorette parties or for older women to see as a group for a lark.

Overall, male stripping always tripped over the fact that stripping for a woman puts a man in a subordinate position. This made it hard to really arouse them. It was also a low status thing.

This is still basically true, but there has been a shift. As being 'hot' in and of itself has become more and more a source of male status, it has become easier for women to be truly turned on by male strippers.

You've had a sheltered upbringing. Back in the late eighties in Australia there was a party sales company called Luvawear. They sold sex toys and lingerie. If the party made sales they got a male stripper.

I haven't seen Magic Mike.

The strippers at the Luvawear parties were clearly gay but still really nice to be around. They didn't seem real wealthy... probably dancers who were looking for a more regular gig than just being on a talent agency's books as backup dancers for bands and stuff. Their routines had a real sense of humour. They took excellent care of themselves physically. Every inch of their skin was clean, exfoliated, tanned, moisturized and the length of any hair at its most aesthetic from hairless to blow dried into the male big glam hair look of the era. They wore a natural look of makeup.

They'd get the call that the party had made target and show up shortly after, do their routine then socialise a while afterwards with jacket and trousers back on but bare chest. They all seemed to enjoy a single glass of champagne they would leave unfinished...more as a prop than as a refreshment.

You know...if you would like to talk to a male stripper about female attraction you could probably hire one just to talk. They aren't cheap but neither are they ridiculously expensive

I think stripping can have just as much appeal to women but it's a bit different. Women aren't generally as interested in watching random people strip (even if they look good). They often want some reason to care first, often through building some (pseudo-) connection. A woman will probably find a sex scene in a film more arousing than one in porn, all other things equal. Idk exactly how a strip club would work this out as a business model but I feel like there's a market.

Yeah, top 5% men get treated way different.

Top 5% -- are treated like kings.

Next 15% -- treated like normal people.

Next 50% -- faceless drones who don't even register on women's radar -- most of the time they will be treated civilly but in perfunctory manor.

Bottom 30% -- better not even think of talking to women -- will be treated as creeps if they try.
