Ultimately, the fact that many women don't support #MeToo doesn't actually matter that much.

The reason being is that far to many women DO support #MeToo, making it not worth the risk to interact with any of them beyond what is strictly necessary. You just never know if she is going to make an accusation that will cost you your career, your home, your good name, or even your freedom. In this day and age where even the merest accusation is enough to destroy your entire life, without any kind of trial, or any kind of recourse if and when the accusation is proven false, is it any wonder the Mike Pence rule is becoming so popular? Is it any wonder that MGTOW is exploding in popularity?

Basically she realized that being a good party member meant executing bad party members, but didn't realize that anyone who is accused becomes a bad party member. The way she's framing this may be coming out in defense of the James Gunn's of the movement. She's also becoming dimly aware that being treated like a child isn't a desirable state to be in. That being said, she believes in patriarchy theory and might be holding onto the idea that the wage gap is a thing based on what she said.

Not only many women. The overwhelming majority of women (and men). Even feminists around me - of the staunch but not completely unreasonable variety - nowadays, unprompted, qualify their celebration of metoo with concerns about its extremes, the poison of internecine conflict within their own ranks, and even its resistance to include male victims.

That has changed recently. A year ago, they would probably have dismissed concerns with references to the larger question of female victimisation.

The problem of the movement now lies in the political dynamics that underpin it. Once a movement picks up such speed and acquires and accepts radical elements, it cannot go back and will have to dismiss moderation as reactionary for fear of losing momentum. It will lose followers and fizzle out. Perhaps next time we can get it right - make it nuanced, inclusive of men, and the trigger for a well-informed debate about how men and women communicate with one another, what drives them, what misunderstandings occur, and what we could do to avoid them. But not at this stage.
