That is always a loaded question... "Is it acceptable to hit women?"

It always requires a follow question: "Well, what did she do?"

If the answer to the follow up question is: "She cooked the eggs wrong." Then no... It is not acceptable to hit that woman.

If the answer to the follow up question is: "She is drowning your kids in the bath tub." Then yes... it is acceptable to hit that woman.

Basically "Any situation where violence against a man would also be justified being a woman is not a shield from that."

Most of the questions have pretty standard answers. Men feel like they have to succeed because no one else is going to help them. Men feel like life is a competition. Men like to spend time working out.

Nothing unusual.

And then all of a sudden (section 7, p.20), an uncharacteristic set of answers that do not represent any German I have ever known (yes, I used to live in Germany).

I call bullshit.

The reason I call bullshit is that the charity that funded it is exclusively interested in women and girls. They say all sorts of things about "equality", but always follow it up with "for women or girls". It is in there interests to paint men with a bad brush.

I have only found the report (german/translated). Nothing about the questions they used. I find it a bit strange that religion is not mentioned at all.

In the end, it's all about how men have to adapt so that women are satisfied.

In my opinion, this reeks of propaganda.

And I wonder just how many women think it's okay to strike a man? 80%? 90%? From my limited experience I've had SOs who've hit me and didn't think twice. I'd tell them to stop and it would for maybe a few weeks, but it would start up again. Of course the public view of domestic abuse towards men is usually something like 'he probably deserved it'.

As soon as I read "x% of country A in study B" I turn off because the data is already flawed: studies are never done on the entire population of a country, only a sample and depending on the questions asked are easily manipulated.

A group of 1,000 men and 1,000 women aged 18-35 from across Germany were asked to give their views on masculinity for the study, which was carried out online.

What about the balancing study on femininity and violence? Women can be very slap-happy when emotionally aroused.

34% of men from that age bracket admitted to being violent towards their female partner in the past, to “instil respect in them.” 33% said they thought it was acceptable if their “hand slipped” occasionally during an argument with their partner.

How was "violent" defined?

Was that 33% of men in that age bracket, or 33% of 34%?

It's important to be clear about these things else its simply propaganda.

I’m gonna go over the debate of if the survey is valid or just gaslighting bullshit, I still think there’s a lot of factor missing here, like the context of hitting a woman. There’s a huge difference between hitting as abuse and hitting as self-defense, for example. But since the survey also say those men said things like hitting their lovers in the past, dislike of public homosexuality and dislike of a woman having partners before then, I doubt they agree to hit women for the good reason
