Seeing Men abandon personal wealth and greed outrages pretty much everyone. 'Loser' Men are universally disregarded following the idea that the only thing that matters about a Man is what he provides. If you've ever been a loser with a girlfriend there's *always* someone who says something about it, it outrages them that somehow a male slipped through the system of exploitation and in into someone's pussy.

So relatable! When I was around 30, I had to travel internationally a lot due to work. This made me fell in love with travelling, and I've been constantly doing it since then as a hobby. I switched to a quite minimalist lifestyle to support this: I have all my stuff in a cabin baggage sized suitcase and a laptop bag. Thats it. I really enjoy this lifestyle. However, whenever I go home or speak to my family, women always mock me or make cinical comments. Like "How can you live off of a small suitcase. You're like a bum!"

Go figure!

Being a simple man is demonized for one very good reason - living a simple life for yourself means you aren't benefitting women in any way. And as far as society is concerned your only reason for existence as a man is to benefit women.

Indeed we can see it everywhere. Look how much hate the MGTOW movements gets simply for wanting nothing to do with women. Note all the shaming to try and get men to date and marry up women they have zero interest in (e.g. "oh you don't like the fact she's fucked 6000 men? Reeee insecure reeee"). Note how the most revered men by society are those who basically give their lives for women - Indeed the shining examples of men we are given are men who put themselves under huge mental and physical stress to provide for their wife and kids. Note how any time a man does ANYTHING for himself it's demonized ("mid life crisis" is the best example of this, when a man finally buys a toy he wants and gets criticized for it).

Your only reason for existence as far as society is concerned is to be a servant to the superior class that is women. If you aren't doing that then you're evil and dangerous. Because how dare you put yourself before the happiness of some woman.

Materialism has it's roots in the female biology and for good reason. If she has great material wealth, her offspring are far more likely to be well provided for and thus survive and thrive. This can explain why women like to marry up, if a suitable candidate exists. It's literally a cavewoman survival strategy for her and any offspring she's going to have.

So the cavewoman part of her brain is screaming "THREAT. AVOID." when a man does not show interest in acquiring wealth and status. Not only does she have nothing to gain from him, thus she will rate her level of attraction to him as zero, but also she can't understand what is actually driving him. This is threatening on a primal, base level. It will be a wonder if any woman can even articulate why he is a threat, but she instinctively knows this is the case.

Hence why non-materialistic men are attacked.

Being a man itself is demonized. As for how back this goes I'm not sure. Feminism is an offshoot of traditional conservatism which teaches that men by nature are wild beasts that need to be controlled. Specifically by being shackled to a woman to raise children. In this way and through war, a man can earn respect. Therefore by ducking out on society and your duty to care for a female or fight in a war, you're not only useless to society but a loose cannon just waiting to cause trouble to the elites. Therefore you have not earned any respect and remain a wild beast.

Of course not. The masters are other men, CEOs, company owners, politicians, etc. The Elite always needed slaves, and now they found in feminism an excellent tool to enslave men (and women).

Minimalism lifestyles in an indication of a preference to not conform to societal norms and expectations, a desire to exist outside the accepted paradigms. and most importantly, not in a position to be controlled by a government, or the agents of a government. From a security standpoint, I can see how that would be a threat to a system of control, where conformity is expected at every level. Obviously, that's bullshit from a logical view of just being tired of the grind and wanting to be away from it all. The good news is that at least here in the states, there are millions of acres of land to live out that lifestyle and not a damn thing some talking rancid milk carton of a pronoun can do about it.

Where did you get that idea? I know way more women who would without a doubt prefer a non-materialistic man over a materialistic man. They are (ofcourse, I guess) not the women sharing “perfect” self-images in abondance on Instagram and such. It seems to me, you are seeing ghosts, if you think all women want materialistic men and honestly, I see a lot of similar misunderstandings in the threats in here, with a lot of men who seem to think women are all the same, acting the same, wanting the same, having the same values etc. All based on the something that it actually only true for quite few women. I think a lot of men in here are creating a false narrative and I’m wondering where it comes from, if maybe it is a defence-mechanism, because its easier, more comfortable and feels more safe to be defensive instead of recognizing the wrongdoings of some men towards women. Either way, we are just digging the ditch deeper.

I'm going to ignore this question and just make the point that being a "simple man" is no longer an option for survival.

I mean it's fine in your 20's, 30's, and 40's, but once you hit 50's reality kicks in. you can't ever afford to retire, can't ever afford a family and kids, so you're now old, lonely, no family, no kids, you just watch yourself get older and slowly die in total poverty. and then when you need help you get sent to a nursing home where you get fed disgusting food in what looks like plastic dog bowls, and you sit in your sh-t and p-ss soaked bed for half a day before anyone notices you or clean you.

I've seen what happens to "simple men" .... you don't want to be a simple man. It's a miserable miserable fate, and it's done like that on purpose.

I simply Hate struggling. If I dont have to do that, to figure out how to pay this and that knowing I'm in a deficit before I even get the paycheck in, then I'm OK with life. Yeah, having a little extra so I can do something with my fishtanks or get some plants for the yard, that stuff makes me happy...it honestly does, and I won't apologize for that. But otherwise? Pfft...having more doesn't equate to having more happiness, because happiness isn't even something people can define. It's an umbrella term people like to throw out as an Ideal they claim to be aiming for.

I read somewhere as a teen that when people say they "just want to be happy", what they really mean is they "just want Money"

I prefer to just be content with what I have, take care of that stuff and that's that. The rest is background noise.

For most people minimalism and simplicity aren’t there cultural areas of the world. In the greater NewYork (from phily to NYC and Boston) megalopolis there is a cultural expectation of ambition and material gain. As a consequence that area creates some of the most productive and ambitious men and women in the US. As a consequence they have a disproportionate say in our wider society and there cultural values in turn shape everyone else’s.

The idea of minimalism and simplicity can be beneficial but practically it isn’t a good philosophy for encouraging economic growth at a national level. Our most important technological and medical inventions started under mass stress events such as war and only became mass producible and easily accessible because the materialism of the private sector drove those inventions into a marketable product. Yes there is absolutely problems with this but it is undeniable that our cultural materialism and consumerism are powerful forces in improving everyone’s lives.

You exploring an alternative lifestyle is commendable at a personal level but I don’t know if I’d call it a threat to society as we know it unless everyone did it. Which again for most people isn’t there thing

A lot of women have not just fantasies but expectations of marrying a man that works to provide her with 'the good life' she doesn't have to work for. The older generations also keep trying to instill this mindset into young women even despite the supposed approach to making the sexes more equal. As a result, men in general are treated as if part of their purpose, if not their entire purpose in life, is to play ATM to women. If you're one of the men that isn't doing that, either by being willfully single, thrifty, or broke, you're going to get demeaned and insulted, because they can't control you and you're not useful as a resource to women.

I feel you, I've been able to create a very successful life for myself and yeah I've had all the "cool cars/houses/etc" but I sold it all and live simple now, I don't even really socialize much honestly, and it pisses my family/people who know me off, like they scold me for wanting to live "basic" and "simple" its actually really fucked up honestly and blows me away because they literally get angry about it and rage. It's so crazy.

I also get demonized for working, I actually genuinely enjoy my work, I've always worked for myself and I love it, but people around me, always talk about how "easy you have it, you're so lucky" and they are mad about it too, it's like they don't realize it takes literally 100,000 hours of grinding to make something of yourself.
