I feel like the community name is way too broad and attracts ALL men including feminists and conservatives. The level of conversation there is nothing compared to this sub and is being watered down by having to explain shit we all take for granted here (like for example women can rape men too). How is anyone supposed to have any meaningful conversation when we have to also continually explain that misandry exists?

Why can't this sub just go private or nsfw? Either that or make a new community on kbin with the exact same name as we have here so there's no confusion what it's about.

But is the whole content of the sub safely archived elsewhere? This is rather important as there is a ton of usercontent here that is still unread by many that would benefit from it. Can the sub's content be preserved elsewhere (off or online) even if the sub goes under?

I'm fully behind anyone wishing to leave Reddit themselves, but please don't damage this sub. Fediverse based social media is deeply unpleasant for me to use, so I'm not moving there, but I don't want to lose this space, it's important for many of us.

Hand moderation over to someone if need be, but don't expect us to follow into a space that isn't well designed, and where opposing the feminist orthodoxy is likely to get us banned.

So, I do understand the ethical concerns but the selfish side of me doesn't want you to step down or leave. This sub would be losing a great mod/contributor and though my overall confidence with the sub isn't lost, it does leave me a little nervous. Anyway, best of luck to ya and I'll come by the other site when I get chance.

Hello, I made an account just to post on here. Longtime lurker and lover of this sub. It has helped me with my mental health so many times, reading the posts and comments here. I respectfully think it is a terrible idea and we should weather the storm a bit longer. That the primary location should still be reddit, and people should be encouraged to post here, but it's ideal too if you slowly build communities elsewhere, for when they are needed in that moment if we really need to jump ship. The sub is still growing, and moving offsite risks the great progress you've made disintegrating. I used to somewhat be a part of the mgtow community(in a nontoxic way) and once they were banned from reddit, nothing ever really picked up steam, it seems to be fragmented and uninteresting. I think we should wait a few months and see what happens with reddit, seems u/spez is getting terrible press every day. I understand your concerns for how moderators are being treated, but isn't this right now primarily felt on the large subreddits that are now posting porn/John Oliver etc. I was hoping our humble sub could escape without too much intervention. Just my 2-cents.. Thank you for all the work that you do.. Cheers!

The fact that the mods are not simply leaving this community with a new set of mods is horrifying. This place has been a genuine place of support that simply does not have an equivalent elsewhere on the internet.

Gambling that community on not just the idea that Reddit will die, but that you somehow correctly chose what will be its replacement is arrogant, selfish, and destructive. To imagine that you can recreate this community within another simply titled "men" is the absolute height of hubris.

Appoint other mods. If you like, have an agreement in place where they try to funnel members of this community to your alternative.

But to destroy this place is to destroy one of the only true places of support that exist on the internet at all. So arrogant, in fact, that it undermines all the advocacy you have ever done up until this point.

Don't take us all down with you. Appoint other mods.

I'll miss this sub a lot, it was great having a politically left-leaning sub that wasn't woke or SJW but still pretty liberal/progressive-minded and acknowleding of issues affecting men and boys. I've always hated the extremely negative association male advovacy has with the Right and likewise also hate how things like female violence against men and boys is so overlooked and trivialized.

I still feel closing the sub altogether is a mistake.
