To what extent did globalism create the modern dating world? And to what extent will de-globalization reverse it?

Let’s first define Globalism. It’s the ability for any nation to sell anything to anyone with little to no friction. As an example, a country like Burma can sell a widget to Uruguay with no fears of piracy due to the US Navy operating as the policemen of the world. This is different from what existed before Globalism, which was a collection of empires. Cross border trade was limited to happening within empires. There was little trade between empires. Most trade was domestic. There was nothing resembling a long supply chain.

Globalism roughly started at the end of World War II, so most of us have ever only known a globalist world. We take it for granted that the current world is the norm. But as of 2023 the world is rapidly de-globalizing, so we're entering a new era.

Globalism created these knock on effects:

1. The predominantly male manufacturing force was outsourced. Men lost a path to a middle class wages that did not require a college degree.

2. Knowledge work and service sector jobs took on a bigger role in the economy. This work shift favored women.

3. The point of Globalism was to make countries interconnected through trade so that they wouldn’t start wars with each other. This means that there have basically been no global wars ever since. This is the first time in history that there’s a surplus of men.

4. Political nationalism basically went out of vogue. As a result things like the Euro were created. This inevitably led to a liberalization of social values, because the economic system incentivized and depended on not hating your trading partners.

De-Globalization will create these knock on effects:

5. Manufacturing is rapidly re-shoring to the United States. There’s an extreme shortage of available laborers for high-paying blue collar non-degree requiring work.

6. AI is predominantly going to disrupt female office workers. This means male jobs will increase and female jobs will decrease.

7. Wars will increase all over the world. More men will die. The surplus of men will go down.

8. Every nation will need to become more nationalist. This means that there’s now an economic incentive for nationalist politics. As an example it’s now in the interest of governments to favor nationalist laws that promote higher birth rates for reduced freedom.
