It’s been over two years for me now, and while I’ve made progress, sometimes it feels like its 3 steps forward, 2.9 steps back.

I didn’t want the divorce. I was happy. But my wife switched within the span of a few months, which eventually led to her leaving, and destroying everything we had built over the course of 12 years.

For those of you who were in the same situation for a couple of years, but then finally healed some time after, what helped you the most? Was it simply time? Dating again? Finding your purpose?

I’ve been doing it all. Reading all the “recommended books”, journaling, gym, new hobbies, new job, travel, some unsuccessful dating (just haven’t gone out with anyone that compares to my ex before she transformed. I miss deep conversations, sexual chemistry, and compatible humor more than actual sex at this age). I even moved to a new city, and then even a new country. But a couple days before Christmas here in the developing world now, I’m still feeling like crap. I continue to miss the happiness I felt pre-divorce / separation, and I’m embarrassed I haven’t sufficiently healed from the divorce yet.

Interested in hearing your insights. They weren’t kidding when they said the holidays could be a tough time for some people. This is my first time really experiencing that. Happy holidays fellas.
