My core argument here is that I think the evolution of our species explain much of the social dynamics we see in the modern western world and it shouldn't be considered alt-right or misogynistic to believe this. No doubt cultural/environmental factors have an impact in specific areas too- but we pretending that we are all frontal cortex driven blank slates and that hard-wired basic instincts do not exist.

I do need to preface this by saying, that women do face discrimination and challenges at the hands of men and there are arenas where complaints are very valid. Equally however, something overlooked is that men also face discrimination. Another major caveat I need to add is that logically I do not agree that everything should be the way it is- my point is solely that so much of social dynamics really is evolution driven rather than patriarchal and as a group women have much more power than is said within modern media.

However very often, what are clearly very basic survival driven traits/structures are determined to be the Patriarchy raising it's ugly head to domineer over women- indeed it's quite the opposite, tribes benefited from sacrificing men to protect women for the survival of the group, and the select "best" men were the ones who reaped the rewards (power/sex/resources) while being in serious competition with other males.

Any way, let's get down to a few pretty pervasive modern examples.

  • Stay at Home/Career Expectations:
    • A lot of the discourse on this assumes it as being patriarchy led- however I actually think women wield more power in this arena. They can opt for either option and it will be socially acceptable, while men are expected to work.
    • Men in general are much more ambivalent about there partner having a job or not, indeed most men do not care what salary their partner earns, with attraction being largely based on perceived beauty and personality.
    • Women in general do not want to be partnered with someone who stays at home. For men it's pretty well understood that having a good stable job helps with attracting a partner- certainly not the only thing.
    • Let's go back in time and think about how it was. Women in the tribe looked after the kids, took care of the living quarters etc. while men went out and hunted, providing for their tribe. What a coincidence that is! I think there is some basic instinct that tends (but doesn't hardcode) men and women towards these positions (provider/caregiver)- again let me caveat this by saying of course exceptions exist, but the tendencies seem expected and obvious
  • Partner Preferences are Evolutionary influences
    • Why do men like younger attractive women? Why do men prefer to marry women with less sexual partner
      • Younger attractive women are more fertile and capable of bearing kids. I'm not saying this is a logical thought that crosses a mans mind- but it's pretty obviosuly a good trait for the survival of any species that sex is used on
      • Related to this, I think it is an interesting question why womens fertility window is shorter than mens- perhaps because it would have been too physically dangerous to give birth?
      • Equally men will invest in raising a kid that is certainly theirs. That is the reason
    • Why do women like confident men with good jobs? Why are women ok with older partners and why is sexual history much less of an issue
      • We'll who were the men who led tribes? It certainly wasn't the timid men. Why would there be preference for the leaders? Well they had access to power and resources that can be used to provide, equally confident men were/are able to look after their partners in a way that timidity cannot.
      • Sexual history doesn't matter because a man cannot ejaculate another mans semen into you. A man certainly is more dangerous as he can overpower and rape, thus it is not a surprise that women are fearful of strange men
      • Again men have a longer fertility window, it's much less of an issue- though equally women do not want a man so significantly holder he might pass away while a child is being raised.
    • These preferences leak into many avenues, as both men and women consciously or not end up going down routes that improve their chances. Ie. so much of going to the gym is about being attractive. Both groups universally prefer healthy partners- it is more important to men though, as child bearing is the physically most challenging task for a human.
  • Victimhood and Mens ability to be "Weak"
    • We hear a lot about gender based womens issues, but very little about gender based mens issues- outside of generally shamed groups. Is this because men do not face gender based difficulties? Why do groups of men who discuss it universally get shamed.
    • It is socially acceptable for women to discuss these topics (as indeed it should be!). Women do a good job of supporting women, while neither men or women do a good job as a collective supporting of handling discrimination against men based on gender.
    • Men discussing these issues are basically committing social suicide within most groups. I have never seen a man discuss these topics in public and indeed I've never seen a protest/action where I live about these issues.
    • This will spur comments of what issues do men face. Well suicide is overwhelmingly male. Homelessness is overwhelmingly male. Men receive harsher sentences across judicial systems for the same crime. Men by default get worse judgements in divorce. In Ukraine it is the men who must die for there country.
    • I must add why I think these are problems that society accepts. The simple answer again comes from our ancestors. Men could be expended without harming the future population of the tribe. Some men reap rewards, many men lose out.
    • So why is it the case that men do not talk about these issues? Well as a man, we are keenly aware that perceived weakness from a womans perspective does hurt attraction. Being publicly "weak" is something that men do not want to be known for.
    • In modern society it is taboo to discuss gendered issues that men face and lands you in the "strange man" category that women need to be protected from. Thus both men and women will shun you. The social perspective of women holds huge, huge power in society- we did recently see that trial by media (without evidence) is largely accepted where the victim is a woman

Anyway those are a few points. I am sure that I'll be labelled as incel/misogynist- I do love both men & women and the above is my understanding of significant drivers that are almost not allowed to be discussed while pretty extreme ideology is quite pervasive within the media. I again do not believe the world should be the way it is, as indeed our environment is wholly different than our ancestors- but it makes complete sense that we tend towards the default hardwired in our subconcious (some more than others).

Anyway, I hope this post will be allowed and that it's possible to have civil disagreement about ideas!
