Did my first ever cold approach today. I was waiting for the bus to go home and I spot this cute girl sitting on some stairs in the street alone. I started thinking about it, trying to talk my self into approaching. What the hell. Went there, said "Hey, do you know what time is bus X?", she replied "No sorry, I don't know". Today the subway was closed so people were forced to look for alternatives to move around the city. I said "yeah, damn the subway is closed today!", she gave me a giggle. And then I fucked up. In a matter of 2 seconds, I gave her a quick smile and said "my name is _ ", she looked at me with a confused look and, to make the situation more awkward, I said "mind if I sit here?". She said "i actually have to go" and left. I sat there for 2 minutes and then I left. When I looked back she was near a friend of hers. A guy. Don't know if it was her boyfriend or not, but man did I felt idiotic after that. I never felt more embarrassed.

Things that I learn:

  • I should have been honest. I knew what the time of the bus was, but I just used it as a way to start to the conversation. Maybe I should have just said "I thought you were cute and wanted to say hi bla bla".
  • Never again try to sit next to the girl like I did. I think that just made her feel uncomfortable and thus leaving.
  • I think she actually spot me before I approached, because I did some walking around the place talking my self into it, trying to get the courage to approach. Once she saw me coming, she might have thought "what does this creep want, he was walking around and now hes coming here". See -> approach. Don't stand around walking like a retard.

The only thing positive I get from this is:

At least I didn't came home wondering "What if...".

I feel like an idiot.
