I've been discussing this topic with a few other Sedditors with regards to texting women. The general consensus I find on Seddit is to only text to arrange the logistics of the date. There appears to be a notion that texting decreases attraction.
Lately I've been experimenting with the text game.
My problem?
I'm a busy person. Very busy. Typically I can be booked up with plans up to two weeks in advance. If I met an HB8-HB10 today, the 1st date will very likely be in a week. I don't cancel plans in order to accommodate dates.
Here's my theory...
1 - "Attraction wears down over time."
2 - "Built a solid attraction with HB. Date is within few days. => Text for logistics only"
3 - "Build a solid attraction with HB. Date is beyond few days. => Text to maintain attraction"
4 - "Weak attraction with HB.=> Text to build attraction"
5 - "HB or you have to reschedule date => Text to maintain attraction"
I won't go into the nitty/gritty details of texting specifically. Tips like "Don't reply right away", "Frequency of texting", etc are covered in other posts.
But I will go into detail with my theory...
"Attraction wears down over time."
Obvious right? But this statement is the foundation to my theory.
Quite a few Sedditors/PUA always advice me "Always assume attraction". This is a fantastic mindset as it helps you communicate confidence via body language.
Here's a hypothetical case scenario with what I consider the "fault" in "Always assuming attraction".
"I approach an HB. I open & she responds positively. I assume attraction, banter, etc. & #-close. I text/call to setup a date within few days. HB flakes on date."
Well what the fuck? She's attracted to me and she flakes? Bitch. Of course there are so many factors that could have been the reason I failed. But let's just make it simple:
She's just not that attracted to you.
Consider the statement "Always assume attraction" to mean she is attracted to you on a similar level as she would be if another guy approached her. Your job is to ramp up the attraction during the set. Do what you can within the given constraints (time/location/etc).
View it like this: "Always assume attraction but fuel the fire."
The fuel? Banter/tease/challenge her/kino/comfort/etc - anything! I want her to be WAY more attracted to me then to the next guy that will approach her between now and our date.
This is important because at the end of the set, you need to gauge her level of attraction to you.
High level of attraction = Lower chance of flaking
Low level of attraction = High chance of flaking
How does text game come in...
Text game is a tool. It's a tool just like banter/kino/etc. Use it wisely and it will help you. Abuse it and all your work gets wiped away.
If I fail to build strong attraction when I meet an HB, I can use text game to build some additional attraction. High attraction = Low chance of flaking
Remember also that women are emotional and attraction is an emotion. Emotions wear down over time.
So even if I build a strong attraction but my date is a week away, that's plenty of time for the emotions to subside. The woman could be excited for the date but not as excited as when I first approached her (attraction has decreased). In this case, I can use text game to maintain the level of emotions & attraction that she has towards me. Consider this situation as "buying time" before the date.
The remaining part of my theory is really a schedule guideline on how to use text game to reduce the chance of flaking. Consider attraction like a fire. Sometimes you need to add fuel to maintain it and other times you don't.
Dangers of Texting
Texting can be dangerous. You don't see the person in front of you therefore you cant gauge their response accordingly based on body language.
If a girl texts me & I don't respond, it could be for many reasons:
- I'm busy
- I'm offended
- Her text was weird - don't know how to reply
- No incentive to reply
- I don't want to talk to her
It can be EXACTLY the same for us Sedditors. Case point:
" I had a very good banter going on between an HB8 & myself. Plenty of teasing & everything was positive. I replied back with one text & there was no response for few days. Finally I "pinged" her with one of my template SMS banter texts and the banter was almost immediately alive again. To this date, I know that ONE text message threw her off. Why? I don't know. But it killed some attraction."
Overall
There are many other methods to reduce the chances of flaking however my post is based on text game specifically.
The above has been working well for me to an extent. I've had a few "flakes" but on each occurrence, the girl was the one that made a solid attempt to reschedule.
