It's Monday, so you know what that means (well, not yet, but you will)!

Tonight will be the first night of our Monday topic threads, which will focus on a specific topic.

First I'll do a little outline of the topic; then people can respond, ask questions, etc., and get some answers. Please participate! If you have a question about something, either ask me in a "main" reply, or ask someone else. If you want to give your opinion on something, don't hesitate! Even if it's only slightly different than mine, we want to hear your thoughts. Even if you're a "keyboard jockey," feel free to share your opinion, and we'll see what we can do.

Mondays will be dedicated to certain topics. I figure Sundays will be a "What'd you learn this week?" day, and I'd like to do certain things for other days as well (to be announced).

Since today is the first day (the first for me as well), I'll make it easy. DIRECT VS. INDIRECT APPROACHES.

Back when Mystery lorded over the seduction community, indirect approaches were the standard. Over time, direct approaches got more popular.

Direct approaches are great because they're often very "honest," and can be done within a small amount of time (even as little as a few seconds). A direct approach is something like "Hi, I saw you standing over here and I thought you were cute, so I just had to come talk to you." You're displaying interest up-front and basically spiking attraction through your honesty/bravery.

Indirect approaches also work very well though (and I go indirect about 99% of the time). "Indirect" just means you don't show much interest upfront - instead of telling her how cute she is, you might make a comment on an article of clothing, or you might make some random joke. Basically you're just trying to start a normal conversation. A big problem with indirect approaches is that you might be too afraid to show any interest or escalate in any way, so the conversation dies pretty quickly.

Some questions: When doing a direct approach, do you need to show much interest after showing a lot of interest at the start? How long do you stick around before asking for a number? Do you even ask for a number, or do you do something else entirely? Does a direct approach have a larger chance of success than indirect? For an indirect approach, how long do you stick around? What do you talk about? When do you escalate?

Just came up with this stuff off the top of my head, so if you can think of other stuff to add, bring it up in the comments. If you have other questions, ask them. Let's get some good discussion going. No answers are "wrong" here (though some may be a bit better than others).

Also a reminder -- Tenmagnet will be doing an AMA tomorrow night at 9pm ET.
