At a VERY basic level, your typical "meet and ask out" scenario works best when:

You engage in a non-threatening fun conversation with her, exhibiting attractive qualities.
Once you have a good rapport, you make a specific suggestion for meeting up again.

If your suggestion is specific, i.e. a particular place and time, it gives her some nice options:

A) If she LIKES YOU, and CAN make it: she agrees and you exchange numbers. Lovely stuff.

B) If she LIKES YOU, but CAN'T make it: she says "I'd love to but I'm off doing X that night, how about another time?" You exchange numbers and arrange an alternative date. Good.

C) If she DOESN'T LIKE YOU, she will say she can't make it, with some excuse*, and doesn't suggest an alternative. You say something to the effect of, "Never mind, have fun doing [whatever the excuse was]" and don't press the issue.

It's never nice being rejected, but the above is more face-saving than the brinkmanship of: "I really like you, wanna go out sometime?" Never say that. It's awkward for everyone**.

*If you don't have a good rapport, or she's having an off day, she may be blunter with the 'no' - but in my experience this is rare. Plus, if she IS having an off day, you should have spotted this and got the funk out of there long before this stage. Life's too short.

**I've used the deliberately crap "I really like you, wanna go out sometime?" line ironically before, to great effect. But only when the rapport/humour was spot on and it back-referenced a previous conversation about bad approaches!

I once approached a girl on a bench and told her shes pretty.

She immediately went "i actually have class" and got up and left. That was so ballsy of her that its just hilarious. I just sat there and cant help but giggle at how bad that was.

I prefer to react to them in curiousity. Id honestly prefer that to a boring 5 minute conversation where doesnt reject me but bores me to death. Entertain yourself!

You have several options. If you feel like she is just saying that because she isnt attracted to you enough, you can take a step back and build more rapport, and attraction and go for the number/date close again. Or you can shrug, like jts no big deal, and think to yourself "too bad for her. She just missed her chance with a great man." And move on the the next girl.

Its a fair question, with a lot of different answers that depend on the size of your balls (figuratively) and the nature of your conversation leading up to the question.

If the conversation seemed to be going great, it could just be basic bitch shield / basic deflection tactics... an example response straight out of the textbook "Come on... I'm only going to call you like 50-60 times per day", then pass her your phone. She might still say no, but who really cares?

On the other hand if you'd just rather leave it alone and end the conversation, I think the best response is just make jokes out of it before saying goodbye (i.e. continue the fun, confident vibe you've already got going on). If your attitude changes as a result of her saying no, it shows that you cared about the result (which is a betamale mentality), and other people around will likely notice the change in your vibe.

Failing that... how would you end a conversation with any stranger, male or female, that you met at a bar/club? Again, straight out of every textbook ever, "I have to get back to my friends, it was nice meeting you".

TL;DR Whatever works for you man, just don't be rude about it and do your best to give zero shits and continue being fun. Outcome independence is your friend.

Ive wondered this myself actually and I happened to see a post on seddit long ago (That I cant find) that had this video @1:25 that helped me when I was wondering the same thing. The poster basically said to shrug off rejection the same way James Bond does when he says "Well, you cant win them all." His attitude is ideally the attitude anyone should have when facing rejection and even a phrase you can say in response to a girl turning you down. It sounds silly but seeing how James Bond does it, helped me shrug off those situations.
